the animal itself. He was a frequent visitor to the royal stables and even
moved in to live with the stable workers for quite some time. The horses,
whether resting or on the move , offered him plenty of inspiration
.[5]The more time he spent observing these animals, the more his
understanding of them grew.
Day after day , Han Gan painted the horses, his brush presenting
every detail that he saw with his own eyes.
It is said that when the Emperor asked Han Gan to take a master of
horse painting as his teacher, the artist replied, “I have my own
teachers, Your Majesty .All the horses in your stables are my very
teachers.”
[6]Those who saw Han Gan’s horse paintings all sang high praises
for his unique skill, saying that his horses “could gallop off the

What is the place of art in a culture of inattention? Recent visitors to
the Louvre report that tourists can now spend only a minute in front of the
Mona Lisa before being asked to move on. Much of that time, for some
of them, is spent taking photographs not even of the painting but of
themselves with the painting in the background.
One view is that we have made tourism and gallery-going so easy that
we have made it effectively impossible to appreciate what we’ve
travelled to see. In this society, experience becomes goods like any
other. There are queues to climb Everest as well as to see famous
paintings. Thus, leisure is considered as hard labour rather than
relaxation.
In the rapidly developing society, what gets lost is the quality of
looking. Consider an extreme example, the late philosopher Richard
Wollheim. When he visited the Louvre he could spend as much as four
hours sitting before a painting. The first hour, he claimed, was
necessary for incorrect impression to be removed. It was only then that the
picture would begin to disclose itself. This seems unthinkable today, but
it is still possible to organise. Even in the busiest museums there are many
rooms and many pictures worth hours of contemplation (沉思) which
the crowds largely ignore.
Marcel Proust, another lover of the Louvre, wrote: “It is only
through art that we can escape from ourselves and know how another
person sees a universe which is not the same as our own and whose
landscapes would otherwise have remained as unknown as any there may
be on the moon.” If any art remains worth seeing, it must lead us to
such escapes. But a minute in front of a painting in a hurried, harried
(烦扰) crowd won’t do that.

From woodworker to great artist — this was the course of Qi
Baishi’s life.He achieved success by coupling talent with hard work.In
1953, he was honoured with the title “People’s Artist” by the
Chinese government.
For most of the general public, his masterpieces are his paintings of
shrimps. At the beginning, he painted these small animals by following
ancient models.Later, he developed a personal style by using shades of
black ink to show a shrimp’s body, giving it an almost real-life
feel.Besides, his paintings of flowers and vegetables, indicating rich
harvests (丰收), are famous as well.People love these nature-based
paintings because the works remind them of the countryside and of their
hometowns. The dove is another common image in Qi’s art during his
later years, showing his wish for world peace.
Be it landscapes, birds, flowers or figures, Qi’s paintings are
rich in expression and detail.Using heavy ink, bright colours and
energetic strokes (笔画), he created works in a fresh and lively
manner, expressing his love of nature and life. His art reflects an
international trend in modern art at the time, yet he expressed it in a
typical Chinese way.
Qi was hard-working even in his 70s.He kept looking for higher

the lives there. In recent years, I have realised that what I run after is
world peace.”
In 1956, he was awarded the International Peace Prize by the World

Mona Lisa is the famous Leonardo da Vinci painting of a woman with
a mysterious smile. This week, the painting gave up a secret.
Scientists using X-rays to examine the chemical structure of a small
part of the painting discovered a technique Leonardo used in the work. An
oil paint used for it was a special, new chemical mixture, which
suggests that the Italian artist was in an experimental mood when he
worked on the painting in the 16th century.
“He loved to experiment, and each of his paintings is completely
different technically,”said Victor Gonzalez, a chemist who has studied
the chemical element of several works by Leonardo and other artists. The
researchers found a rare lead compound
plumbonacrite, in Leonardo’s first layer of paint. The discovery proved
that da Vinci most likely used lead oxide to thicken and help dry his paint.
The paint in the study is about the thickness of a human hair, lying in the
top right area of the painting.
The scientists looked into its atomic structure using X-rays, moving
particles at the speed of light, permitting researchers to look deeper into
the paint structure. “ Plumbonacrite is really a fingerprint of his recipe,
as it’s the first time we can chemically confirm it,” Gonzalez said.
Dutch artist Rembrandt may have used a similar mixture when he was
painting in the 17th century. Gonzalez and other researchers have found
plumbonacrite in his work, too. Leonardo is thought to have put lead
oxide powder, which has an orange colour, in the oil to make it thicker
and dry faster. “What you will get is an oil that has a very nice golden
colour,” Gonzalez said. “It flows more like honey.”
But Mona Lisa — said by the Louvre to be a portrait (肖像) of
Lisa Gherardini, the wife of a Florentine silk businessman — and
additional works by Leonardo still have other secrets to tell. “What we
are saying is just a little brick in the knowledge,” Gonzalez said.

mental states such as fear and worry与上文lower stress and mental
calmness相照应。
词That指代的内容,D项中the creation of artworks即其指代对象,艺术

UNIT 4 Amazing art
Chinese painting is one of the oldest continuous artistic traditions in
the world. The materials used in Chinese painting, brush and ink on
paper and silk, have determined its characters.Originating from
calligraphy, it is a linear art, using brushwork to inspire images and
feelings.Once on paper, brushstrokes cannot be erased or corrected,
so a painter must have a complete mental concept of the painting before
even lifting the brush.
Chinese painting is closely related to harmony between man and
nature. The painter must work with speed, liveliness, confidence, and
technical mastery.Chinese painting doesn’t attempt to capture the actual
physical appearance of a subject, but rather its nature or
character.Chinese painting doesn’t present a single view; every area of
the painting is interesting to the eye.
Landscapes are often painted from a direction above the scene, so
that many areas can be seen at once.In large scenes or landscapes, the
eye is meant to travel along a visual path from one area to another.
There are three main subjects of Chinese painting: human figures,
landscapes, and birds and flowers.Figure painting became highly
developed during the Tang Dynasty, and landscape painting reached its
height during the Song Dynasty. After Chinese painters recognised
Western art during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, they began to
develop new styles combining traditional Chinese painting with Western
impressionism and perspective.
Traditional Chinese painting involves the same techniques as
calligraphy and is done with a brush dipped in black or coloured ink,
typically on paper or silk. The finished work is then fixed on scrolls,
which can be hung or rolled up.Traditional painting is also done in albums
and on walls, and other media.

M:Here is the news from Dallas.
Walmart posted its worst monthly sales results in history, declaring a
large decrease in April.
Monthly sales measure sales gains or losses at stores open for at least a
year. They are an obvious sign of the returns a supermarket earns, and
thus an influence on the amount of profit it makes. Most US supermarkets
are reporting their April results on Thursday.
Walmart’s 5% drop in the four-week period fell below its earlier forecast
of “flat” sales of a 2% to 3% decrease. In a recorded phone message
Thursday, Walmart blamed bad weather last month in most US areas.
Walmart’s chief financial officer warned a month ago that the
company’s earlier goal of earnings for its latest quarter would be “a
challenge” to achieve, considering what the company foresaw as a
difficult April. The company didn’t provide an update. It did,
however, predict a sales gain for this month of a small decrease.Walmart
will report its results for its first quarter on Tuesday.

Cristina Mittermeier is a marine biologist, activist and multi-award-
winning photographer who has given her life to ocean protection.
Recognised as being one of the world’s most influential conservation
photographers, Cristina has travelled to 132 countries to achieve her
goal — to communicate the immediate need to protect wild places.
She began her career as a marine biologist, but soon realised that
she could better work for the interests of the oceans and the planet through
her camera than with scientific data. In her eyes, science is basic to
understanding what is happening to our planet, but it fails to convey the
emotions that make us care.
According to Cristina, photography allows us to humanise (使人
性化) stories and create something meaningful, and she had an urgent
need to share the difficult situation of the planet. For her, it’s all about
the emotional connections we can establish with the subject matter. She
loves creating pictures that engages people in conversations and makes
them stop and think. Establishing a successful career as a photographer
has not been an easy journey. She worked hard at teaching herself the
basics of photography and then she went back to school to learn more
about the underpinnings of fine art.
When asked what has inspired her focus on marine life, she
replied, “The ocean is barely mentioned but it is the largest ecosystem
on our planet and is the ecosystem that has the most influence on Earth. It
absorbs at least 25% of all emissions and most of the heat on our planet. I
want people to recognise that the ocean isn’t just hurt by climate
change — it is our solution. If our oceans die — and they are dying — we
will die with them. Life on Earth is not possible without a living ocean.”

A 16th century drawing by one of the key figures of the German
Renaissance has been valued in excess of $10 million after it was initially
purchased at a yard sale for just $30 in 2017. According to Agnews
Gallery — the London auction house in possession of the artwork —
Albrecht Dürer, who died in 1528, is regarded as both the greatest
German artist of his time and as one of the most important artists and
intellectuals of the European Renaissance. The drawing that has been
rediscovered is titled “The Virgin and Child”. As Dürer’s career and
legacy have been studied in depth since his death, it is extremely rare to
find unknown works of his.
Boston-based art collector Clifford Schorer, who is a consultant to
the gallery, added Thursday that he came across the rare artwork,
thought to have been completed in 1503, by chance on the way to a party
in Massachusetts in 2019. He had forgotten to bring a gift to the party, so
he went to a bookstore, which sold collectable volumes. The bookseller
told him his friend had a Dürer drawing and asked if he would take a look
at it. Schorer agreed, but held out little hope.
“The artwork had been purchased at a yard sale at the home of an
architect who had been gifted the piece from his art dealer father,”
Schorer said. “Generally speaking, it’s an inverse (反向的)
relationship between how dramatic the claim is and how much of a let
down it is. For example if someone tells me they have a Leonardo da
Vinci, I’m usually pretty confident I’m going to see some images that
are unimpressive.”
But when he arrived to examine the artwork weeks later, he was
taken aback by its quality. “It was like experiencing a kind of electricity.
When you’re in my world you spend your life looking for unknown
things that lead to fascinating research avenues ...and I could see I was at
the beginning of something extremely exciting,” Schorer said.

28. Why is it rare to find the unknown works of Albrecht Dürer’s?
( )
A. He was a key figure of the German Renaissance.
B. His real works were only sold at the yard sales.
C. His works were studied carefully after he died.
D. He had few works like “The Virgin and Child”.
29. What did Clifford Schorer do on his way to a party?( )
A. He went to buy a gift.
B. He collected old volumes.
C. He went to a gallery.
D. He visited his old friends.
He had forgotten to ...
sold collectable volumes.
30. Why did Clifford Schorer mention the example of Leonardo da
Vinci?( )
A. To show the value of Dürer’s drawing.
B. To describe his contradictory feelings.
C. To improve his own confidence in art.
D. To show the painting is unimpressive.
31. What does the underlined phrase “taken aback” in the last paragraph
mean?( )
A. Sold. B. Shocked.
C. Excited. D. Excused.
It was like
experiencing a kind of electricity.

An artificial intelligence system that has recently caught the spotlight
for numerous reasons has been asked to produce images of real-life iconic

AI art being accepted among the community, saying, “Is it common

I had just poured my second cup of tea that morning and sat down to
read the paper. From somewhere, an inner voice said, “Go and see
Jeff and bring him the chair to repair.Go right now.”
It was such a strong impulse (冲动) that I hurriedly dressed and
lugged (用力拖) a dining-room chair to his door.Jeff was a neighbour
who had lost his wife a while back, and he occasionally did minor repairs
for me on furniture because he enjoyed working with his hands.
I knocked on his door and waited a while.I was about to walk away
when he answered. He looked like he was far away in his thoughts.I felt
awkward about disturbing him so early.I greeted him and then asked if he
could repair my chair. He invited me inside. We sat in his living room.He
looked depressed and not his usual self.He said he had had a stroke (中
风) recently, and while he was home now, he still needed to attend
outpatient physical therapy (门诊理疗).He had to build his strength
back up.I apologized for the chair and told him, under the
circumstances, I would just bring it back home.He said to leave it.
We talked for a while. It had scared him to be in the hospital. He
hadn’t been there since his wife had died.Having worked as a mental
health therapist, I listened to how hard it had been since his wife passed
away and how much worse it was now since the stroke. The longer we
talked, the more I saw his mood lighten.
We even started talking about his diet and how he had not been
eating. He said the dietician had told him to eat more fruits and
vegetables, but he didn’t care for them.Mostly, I was concerned
because he was not eating much at all.I stayed talking with him until I saw
his mood lift and the tension leave his face.

After I left his home, I went to the grocery store and gathered
ingredients.I made him a hot meal, which I thought would lift his
spirits.Carefully, I cut up some vegetables and prepared a dish for him.I
believed it was the best dish I’d ever made. Then, I made some home-
made biscuits and prepared fresh fruit for dessert.I dropped it off for
him.He was delighted that someone cared.Emotionally, he seemed in a
better place.
The next time I saw him, he said the dish was wonderful.Though I
am usually skeptical of praise, I understood because I’d made it with
love.He talked of his next physical-therapy appointment.I made sure he
had transportation; I would gladly have driven him, but he had figured
it out. What’s more, he repaired my chair. He said it gave him a reason
to get his strength back.He had returned to his usual self, and his
confidence had returned.I was so thankful for the inner voice that directed
me to see him that morning.(共20张PPT)

The Night Watch was commissioned (委托) around 1639 by Frans
Banninck Cocq, the captain of Amsterdam’s civil militia (民兵组
织), and described him and his 17 members. It was completed in 1642
by Rembrandt van Rijn and spent more than 70 years in the hall of the civil
militia.
In 1715, Dutch officials decided to move the painting to the city hall
in Amsterdam’s Royal Palace on the Dam. The almost 12-foot by 14-
foot artwork couldn’t go through the doors, so the movers made a
decision and cut off the edges of the painting. The missing parts were
never recovered. However, art historians have been aware of the missing
items thanks to a smaller copy of the original scene painted by Dutch artist
Gerrit Lundens.
In 2019, officials of Amsterdam’s Rijksmuseum, where the
painting has been displayed since 1808, decided to recreate the missing
parts. To help them with the restoration (修复), the team, led by the
museum’s senior scientist, Robert Erdmann, turned to a new AI
algorithm (算法). Called Convolutional Neural Networks, it helps
computers figure out what images may have once looked like. The
scientists scanned high-resolution images of the original (原作) and
Ludens’ painting to the computer. The AI was able to study and correct
the painting’s perspective. It also recognized the exact colours used by
the Dutch master and could even copy his brushstrokes.
The “missing” parts were printed and mounted to the painting. The
left side included two men watching the event and a young boy running
away from the militia. A drummer and a barking dog were added to the
painting’s right side.
The AI helped the museum reproduce the best possible version of the
missing pieces. But Taco Dibbits, director of the Rijksmuseum, thinks
that the original missing parts are still around and will be returned to the
museum some day. The restored painting will be on show and it can also
be seen online on the museum’s website.

Every year in May, museums prepare shows to honor Leonardo da
Vinci, who died in France on 2 May 1519. He is remembered as one of
the greatest artists and creative thinkers of all time. His most famous
paintings are Mona Lisa and the Last Supper.
Recently, researchers have been studying a painting, Landscape
8P which they think is da Vinci’s earliest-known artwork. They used
special lighting to study the artwork and discovered there were two
images, not one. One drawing is on the back of the piece, which dates
back to 5 August 1473.
The drawing on the front was painted when Leonardo was 21 years
old. It shows a river valley and a castle outside the city of Florence. There
is little left of the drawing on the back, perhaps because it was wiped off.
Only a bridge over a river can be seen. But there is writing on both sides.
The writing on the front gives the date and goes from right to left.
Some people would call this “mirror-writing”. It’s a way Leonardo
often wrote in his notebooks. The writing on the back goes from left to
right and tells about an agreement, probably to produce a work of art.
Cecilia Frosinini is an art historian. She said, “Leonardo was born
left-handed, but was taught to write with his right hand from a very
young age. By looking at his writings, including from this drawing, we
can see his right-handed handwriting is educated and well done.”
Experts compared the two handwriting samples and said they were
both made by Leonardo. They show he could write well using his left hand
or his right hand.
The drawing is known as Landscape 8P from its number in an art list.
It will be part of an exhibit at Italy’s Uffizi Gallery. The museum
director, Eike Schmidt, said by studying the drawing researchers gave
us a new way of looking at Leonardo’s drawing techniques and his
abilities in writing.

researchers recently?( )
A. Mona Lisa. B. Last Supper.
C. Landscape 8P. D. Mirror-writing.

6. What does the writing on the back probably tell about?( )
A. A statement about the painting.
B. An introduction about Leonardo.
C. Something about the city of Florence.
D. An agreement to produce a painting.
7. What can we learn about da Vinci from Cecilia’s words?( )
A. He could write with either of his hands.
B. He did bad in right-handed handwriting.
C. He wasn’t good at writing with his right hand.
D. He taught himself to write with right hand.

A. Unclear. B. Positive.
C. Doubtful. D. Cold.

During a dark period in his youth, Bill Murray was wandering the
streets of Chicago, feeling extremely sad and hopeless. “I was no
longer excited about anything in life,” the actor recalled. That day he
decided to visit the Art Institute and found himself in front of Jules
Breton’s 1884 painting The Song of the Lark (云雀), which shows a
young woman looking skyward, sickle (镰刀) in hand, a bright
orange sunrise behind her. Suddenly, Murray felt he had a promising
future.
“I just thought, well, the girl doesn’t have many chances of success,
but the lark’s flying high up in the sky and the sun’s coming up anyway
and she’s got another chance at it,” he said. “That gave me some
sort of feeling that I’d get another chance every day the sun comes up.”
Murray credits the painting with changing his life forever.
Though making art has long been regarded as a form of treatment
through self-expression, recently, passive participation — looking at
art — is now being regarded as a different way of improving mental
health. “We know that for a lot of people, making art can be a useful
way to treat a mental illness,” says Tim A Shaw, artist and co-founder
of the arts and mental health charity Hospital Rooms. “But doing some
painting or drawing isn’t usually an easy, relaxing thing for those who
suffer from a high level of mental stress; it’s an uncomfortable
pleasure.”
A few months ago, doctors at one of Brussels’s largest hospitals
partnered with — and began advising patients to make visits to — the
city’s fine arts museums. “We’re in the middle of a crisis that has
brought so much stress to people, and I think culture may be the
answer,” says government official Delphine Houba. The World Health
Organization, in 2019, also published a 146-page report that
recommends the inclusion of arts in the treatment of mental health. In the
UK, Hospital Rooms has been changing dozens of wards (病房) by
painting their walls and filling them with artworks by artists like Nick
Knight and Gavin Turk.

A
Jamie Wardley is a special kind of artist — an ice sculptor. He first
trained as a sand sculptor. Later,he learned about ice sculpture. Now he
does sand sculpture in summer. And in winter, he sculpts ice.
When sculpting ice, Wardley has to work in cold temperatures. If
the weather is cold enough, he can work outside. But winter in the
United Kingdom is not always very cold. So often he works in a large
freezer where the temperature is about -12℃.
Wardley enjoys sculpting ice outside in winter. When he sculpts in
the open air, people can watch. They can be part of the creative process.
Wardley makes ice sculpting sound simple. But the tools Wardley uses
are sharp and dangerous. And the ice is very heavy. Each block of ice
weighs 120 kilos. And some larger sculptures are made of several
combined blocks of ice. Sometimes ice sculptures can be as big as
buildings. In Kemi, Finland there is an ice hotel called the Snow Castle.
Each year, Wardley helps build the Snow Castle.
Inside the Snow Castle, the temperature is -50℃. Even the dining
tables are made of ice. So you have to wear winter clothes when eating
and wear a hat when sleeping. “The ice hotel is built every year in
January. Then it melts in April. Each year we rebuild it and create a new
design,” Wardley said.
The Snow Castle is a large and amazing work of ice, but
Wardley’s smaller ice sculptures are special too. One winter, in the city
of Bradford, the UK, Wardley created several small sculptures. He
used the sculptures to tell a story which contained an important message
about goodwill and understanding.
Ice sculptures are temporary works of art. When the temperature
rises, they will melt. But that does not mean that their beauty is lost. The
sculptures from that day in Bradford have now melted away, but their
message of goodwill, understanding and acceptance remains.

Finger painting is an art that most people have experienced in
childhood. But there are still people who know little about this art form.
Finger painting is a simple activity that involves dipping fingers in paints
and then using fingers to create objects and shapes on a piece of paper. All
you need is a table at elbow height, a few sheets of plain paper, and a
few bottles of watercolour.
When engaging kids in this activity, one should use non-toxic (无
毒的) paints only. If not available in the market readily, non-toxic
paints can be made at home easily. Preferably, the paints should also be
eatable. Finger paints come in bright colours and can be purchased
relatively inexpensively. Adults can save money by making their own
finger paints using a mixture of cornstarch, food colouring and water.
It is a common fallacy that finger painting is for children alone,
rather it’s an activity that can be enjoyed by adults in equal measure.
Adults can use rubber gloves while painting to avoid dirty marks of paints
on their hands. When a group of people are gathered for an exercise of
finger painting, it can be a great way of creating a bond between the
group. Art and painting parties are a popular concept in the West.
Organizations can also use finger painting as a team-building activity by
making participants paint together on a large canvas (画布).
There’s no limit to the expression of feelings in finger painting. All
one needs to do is go all out and put all their feelings on a piece of paper
by dipping their fingers in paints. While painting, one may
unconsciously choose colours that reflect their emotions. For example,
you may choose the colour red to express your anger or green to express
hope. At times you may be confused, and the painting will help you
describe your confused state of mind. Once you get your emotions on
paper, you are likely to feel relieved.
So what are you waiting for? Plan a finger-painting session soon,
and experience the joy.

Huang Gongwang was a famous Chinese artist in the Yuan Dynasty.
He was good at music, poetry, writing and especially painting.
Huang was born in 1269 in Jiangsu Province. Sadly, when he was
young, his parents died and he lived a poor life. But then, a nice man
from Zhejiang Province adopted him and took care of him. The kind man
was impressed by the boy’s talent. Later Huang began to learn painting
under the guidance of Zhao Mengfu.
Between the ages of 50 and 62, Huang often travelled in nature.
During the long-term travelling, he developed an interest in rivers and
mountains. When living in Songjiang, Huang often watched and enjoyed
the fantastic scenery there. Sometimes he sat in the mountains all day,
even forgetting to eat and have a rest. While enjoying the beauty of
nature, he got lots of good ideas about what to paint.
Huang drew lots of paintings during his later life. But most of them
have gone missing over the centuries. Dwelling in the Fuchun Mountains
is one of the few surviving works and it is considered to be among his
greatest works. It describes the autumn scenery along Fuchun River in
southern China with ink and wash. After years of efforts, Huang finished
painting Dwelling in the Fuchun Mountains. Unluckily, this painting
was later burnt into two pieces. Now, the two pieces are carefully kept in
two different museums.
During Huang’s life, he made great achievements in painting.
Because of his great ability in art, Huang was considered one of the Four
Great Masters of the Yuan Dynasty.

Scarlett did not eat regularly when she was three years old. At the
time, her parents thought she was just a picky eater, but after a blood
test and some other tests, they learned she had a rare heart condition.
“I was shocked. I always thought it was her stomach, but the result
was beyond our imagination,” her mom, Shanna Tabron, says. “It
was really tough to understand and let it sink in. The heart is the engine to
your body, and it was heart-broken to hear it.”
In the following 5 years, Scarlett was in and out of the hospital
while she waited for a new heart, before receiving a transplant in 2019.
Since then, Scarlett said she’s been “feeling better”. And she is a
cute and active girl and has found great joy through dancing, which she
finds both fun and challenging. This year, when the doctor told
Scarlett’s parents that they should not worry about Scarlett’s heart any
more, the family even held a dance party for the lucky and brave girl.
Out of all the dancers in the world, Scarlett’s biggest inspiration is
the amazing Rockettes. “They are the best,” Scarlett says. “Even
when I was sick and went through so many tests, I could felt the power
and energy they gave me.” She always wished to see the Rockettes in
person.
Through a partnership between Make-A-Wish Southern Florida and
Make-A-Wish Metro New York, Scarlett and her family recently got to
fly to New York City for an unforgettable weekend.
And when she found out that her dream of going to New York City to
meet them was coming true, she was excited. “I’m really excited to
go dancing with the Rockettes and watch their performance,” she
said, after changing into a special dancing suit to show off her high
kicks.
注意:1.续写词数应为150左右;
In tears, Scarlett’s mother observed the little girl during the
show.
Then, Scarlett got to attend a private meet with the Rockettes
dancers in person.
In tears, Scarlett’s mother observed the little girl during the show.
During the performance, Scarlett had the biggest eyes and smile,
forgetting everything around. It seemed as if she had joined them,
dancing with them. She felt so special. “After the show ended, they
had some flowers falling from the ceiling, and she opened her bag to
collect them as a sweet memory of the best day,” Scarlett’s mother
said.
Then, Scarlett got to attend a private meet with the Rockettes
dancers in person. “Scarlett kept saying, ‘You are perfect,’” her
mom recalls. The dancers surprised her with a bag filled with gifts. “The
minute I met Scarlett, I could see her eyes light up with joy,” said one
of the professional dancers. “My favourite part of spending time with
Scarlett was seeing her excitement as she talked about her love for dance,
and for the Rockettes,” she added. The dancers felt thankful that they
could be a part of Scarlett’s holiday this year, while for Scarlett and her
family, this was a trip they would never forget.
