Yang Li, a native Miao woman passionate about embroidery (刺绣), owns a
folk culture products shop that sells Miao embroidery, batik cloth, and silver jewelry. At first, the small shop struggled as there were many similar products on the market. Yang realized the need for a unique brand to stand out from the competition. During a
试卷第 4 页,共 15 页
hike in Fanjing Mountain in July 2011, Yang accidentally cut her hand on a thorn
leaf. This gave her an idea: “There are leaf-vein bookmarks and leaf-vein paintings.
Why has nobody created leaf-vein embroidery yet ”
Obviously, the reason behind this is that embroidering on leaves requires
delicate skills that few possess. Yang Li collected thousands of leaves from Fanjing
Mountain and processed them by steaming, boiling, and tanning to expose their veins. When the leaves became dry, they were also extremely fragile. The biggest challenge was improving the flexibility of the leaves. After consulting a local expert Shen Min, she learned that soaking them in acidic water could make them tough enough for
embroidery.
Through continuous learning and practice, she succeeded in creating her first piece of leaf-vein embroidery, which perfectly combines traditional embroidery
patterns with the natural textures of leaves. By adding traditional designs from the
Miao, Tujia, and Dong ethnic groups, she produced art that exhibits unique aesthetic appeal of traditional embroidery with contemporary craftsmanship. Yang notes that typically, only those with decades of embroidery experience can independently
complete the entire leaf-embroidery process, and there have been fewer than 20 people in Tongren since 2011 who can do so.
Two years later, Yang opened an embroidery processing factory and offered
jobs to more than 500 laid-off female workers, rural women, and people with
disabilities. “Guizhou is a province with a large number of ethnic groups and a long
history of ethnic embroidery skills,” she says. “I will keep doing leaf-vein embroidery for the rest of my life because it is meaningful.”
24 .What inspired Yang Li to create leaf-vein embroidery
A .An accidental injury to her hand. B .Her love for Miao embroidery.
C .The discovery of a special leaf. D .A decrease in her shop’s earnings.
25 .What is the biggest challenge for Yang Li
A .Drying the leaves B .Making leaves more flexible.
C .Collecting suitable leaves D .Exposing veins of leaves.
试卷第 5 页,共 15 页
26 .What do we know about Yang Li’s leaf-vein embroidery
A .It is costly to complete a single piece
B .It is well-received by international consumers.
C .It is a unique combination of artistic elements.
D .It demands cooperation between craftsmen.
27 .Which of the following words can best describe Yang Li
A .Passionate and humorous. B .Ambitious and cautious.
C .Creative and dedicated. D .Optimistic and considerate.

Going against the tendency of flooding to well-known yet crowded tourist
attractions on vacation, a growing number of holidaymakers in China are spending their holidays at lesser-known places to look for special and relaxed holiday
experiences. “Reverse tourism” has appeared as a new trend among young holidaymakers in China.
During the public holidays, large numbers of vacationers, especially youth who long to escape their busy city lives, avoid popular holiday tourist attractions in order to get off the beaten track and enjoy some peace and quietness.
According to data from online travel agency Qunar, the number of rooms booked at hotels in less-traveled cities during the holiday was up 30 percent
year-on-year. Bookings for four and five-star hotels in less-traveled places, including Linxia in Gansu province and Shizuishan in the Ningxia, all increased at least 10
times from the same period of the past year. Even 12.5 percent of youth who normally have little time for themselves simply had a time in a hotel to make the much-awaited holiday more relaxing.
Besides crowds, some vacationers chose less-traveled places to save on the cost of trips to popular attractions, which often include expensive tickets, meals and hotel stays. What’ more, lesser-known attractions are able to offer more natural
experiences, according to social media posts. And unlike popular attractions, some undeveloped places with little online attention can offer more surprises.

When plates are set on the table, phones, rather than forks, are at the ready. At
this point in our social media entanglement (纠缠), the fact that the camera eats first is pretty much a given. Sure, some chefs, including Michelin rated star chefs, express
their displeasure at this, but efforts to make the table a screen-free domain have mostly fallen flat.
New research from Aston University has found that people are indeed
influenced by the food photos that their friends post on social media. For example, for every serving of fruits and vegetables that a person thinks their friends are eating,
they’ll eat one-fifth of a serving more. This number makes more sense within the
context of the recommended “five a day”, meaning someone who’s being influenced
试卷第 7 页,共 15 页
would make a point of eating six portions of fruits or vegetables. Similarly, for every three portions of junk food that a person sees friends consuming on social media,
they’ll eat an extra one.
The researchers have also suggested that social media can be very beneficial
when it comes to people’s choices of food and their diets. Study supervisors Dr. Jason Thomas said, “The implication is that we can use social media as a tool to encourage each other’s eating choice within friendship groups, and use this knowledge as a tool for public health interventions.”
Actually, the daily food situation is somewhat different from everything else posted on social media. People also desire to copy what they see but they need good social media literacy skills in order to grasp what’s realistic and what’s absurd. It is necessary to avoid the fake perfection of social media.
It gets boring trying to figure out what to eat three times a day, week after week, so no wonder people want to take the path of least resistance and eat what their
friends are eating. Unfortunately, most of what gets posted is the more
time-consuming recipes or the attractively styled restaurant meals. By all means, keep your antennae (触角) out for new ideas, but gather them from food magazines,
cookbooks, store flyers, reliable cooking websites, and recommended recipes from friends and family.
32 .What phenomenon is talked about in Para.1
A .The influence of social media on people’s diet.
B .People’s taking photos of food before eating.
C .Chefs’ efforts to make the table screen-free.
D .The pursuit of dining in fancy restaurant.
33 .What’s the consequence of people’s seeing their friends’ online post
A .They’ll copy what their friends do.
B .They’ll take junk food more seriously.
C .They’ll consume more than their friends.
D .They’ll care more about their friends’ eating habits.
试卷第 8 页,共 15 页
34 .What’s Dr. Jason Thomas’s attitude towards social media
A .Positive. B .Doubtful. C .Concerned. D .Unclear.
35 .What does the author intend to do in the last paragraph
A .Point out the unreality of social media.
B .Call on people to enrich their knowledge in cooking.
C .Introduce the general classification of food posted online.
D .Encourage people to broaden their sources of food inspiration.

Standing in front of the classroom, I felt my hands shake as I stared at the
wrinkled (皱巴巴的) note cards. Just a month ago, I’d avoided speaking English by
any means — my vocabulary was limited, and I feared mispronouncing simple words. When Mr. Li announced the “English Story Sharing” homework, I wanted to give up immediately.
The first week was a terrible dream. I spent hours searching for basic words like “courage” and “determination” in my dictionary, only to forget them the next day. My partner Lily noticed my worry and offered to practice with me after class. We read
short stories aloud, and she corrected my pronunciation of “th” and “r” patiently.
Though I made mistakes when speaking sentences and felt bad about my mistakes, Lily never laughed — she just said, “Mistakes are part of learning.”
As we kept practicing, small successes started to add up. One afternoon, when I was describing how a person felt, I naturally said “excited” without stopping to check the dictionary. Lily’s eyes lit up, and she clapped hands with me, “You did that
试卷第 13 页,共 15 页
without thinking!” That moment filled me with a little confidence. Every night after that, I began practicing in front of the mirror. I used hand movements to make the
story more lively, even if I made mistakes with a word or two. I’d repeat the hard sentences over and over until they came out fluently. Slowly, the note cards didn’t feel like something I couldn’t live without — they felt more like a helpful friend guiding me along.
One evening, I tried recording myself telling the story of my favorite book.
Listening back, I was uncomfortable with how bad my sentences sounded. But instead of giving up, I rewrote the text, replacing difficult words with simpler ones I’d
learned. Mr. Li also gave me valuable advice, “Focus on expressing your feelings, not being perfect.”
注意:
(1)续写词数应为 150 个左右;
(2)请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
Finally, the day of the story sharing arrived.

M: OK, I watch people a lot. I do that when I travel. I have been to many countries such as
Britain, Italy, and Sweden. So I spent a lot of time at the airports. While waiting for my flights, I watch people passing by and start my imagination. For example, the other day when I was waiting for my flight to Greece, I saw a couple. They were buying magazines at that moment. They were not wearing business clothes, but the man was carrying a suitcase. Every few seconds, the women looked around. I wondered if someone was following them. Perhaps they were running away and, you know, this reminded me of a story in the newspaper that day: a banker stole one million
pounds a week before and disappeared with his wife. There was a picture of them in the paper. The couple really looked like the thieves. Maybe I should stop them. Just then I saw them say
goodbye to each other and the woman walked away. Well, sometimes I make mistakes like that, but I find things like that very useful for my writing.

Getting Close to Chinese Intangible Cultural Heritage
To promote traditional Chinese culture, our school organized students to visit the city cultural center last Friday and participate in the activity themed "Getting Close to Chinese Intangible Cultural Heritage".
The activity kicked off with a vivid lecture by a professional, who introduced the historical origins and unique characteristics of intangible cultural heritage like paper-cutting, Peking Opera and calligraphy. Afterwards, we admired a wide range of fascinating works and joined interactive hands-on workshops. Under the guidance of local artists, we tried our hands at paper-cutting and sugar painting, experiencing the profound charm of traditional crafts .
The activity was a great success. Not only did it deepen our understanding of traditional culture, but it also inspired us to pass on these precious cultural legacies.

67 .Finally, the day of the story sharing arrived. I walked to the front ofthe classroom with my heart pounding. Taking a deep breath, I started to tell my story. At first, my voice was a bit shaky, but as I got into it, I remembered all the efforts I’d put in and the encouragement from Lily and
Mr. Li. I used the hand gestures I’d practiced and pronounced each word as clearly as possible. I was fully immersed in the story, forgetting my fear for a while. The note cards were right there, but I hardly needed them. Every line seemed to come naturally from my heart.
When I finished my story, the classroom erupted in applause. I looked around, seeing the
smiling faces of my classmates. Lily gave me a big thumbs-up. Mr. Li nodded with approval. I felt a huge sense of accomplishment wash over me. All those hours of struggling, the frustration of
making mistakes, and the determination to keep going had paid off. I realized that with effort and the support of others, I could overcome my fear of speaking English. This experience was not just about sharing a story; it was a journey of self-growth, and I knew I would be more confident in
facing future English-related challenges.
