The school’s campus (校园) looks like a “floating forest.” The classrooms are “hung” in different corners of this “forest.” There are also treehouses where students can take a break from their stressful studies. A ramp (坡道) leads up to a rooftop that serves as both a lecture hall and a park with sports areas. Everything on campus—from the theater and library to the labs and stores—is connected by a long walkway. Students are constantly surrounded (环绕) by trees as they walk its zigzag (之字形) design.
Ma Di is one of the school’s designers. He is always trying to create fun architecture. While working on this high school, Ma set his sights on designing more than just a collection of buildings. By bringing the power of nature into his design, he hopes to reshape how people think about school life. The architect stresses the importance of “blank spaces” in a school. “I want to give students a place to relax, daydream and discover beauty,” he said. “You know, people are often most creative when they seem to be ‘doing nothing.’”

The telephone is one of the most creative inventions. People can speak to each other from one place to another with it. The mobile phone takes this technology further. It means we can make contact with people from almost anywhere in the world.
The mobile phone allows us to communicate in a quick, cheap but silent way. A few years ago, a study was carried out on teenagers’ preference between texting and talking on the phone in the UK. It found that 49 percent of teenagers preferred to send a text message rather than speak to someone.
Certainly, sending a message through a chat app allows us to carefully choose our words and say things more clearly—especially if we express ourselves by using emojis. Texting also keeps your message private. That’s because other people can’t hear your text message if you’re in a public place such as on a train. But in some ways, texting instead of talking can be harmful. We may forget the art of talking. What’s worse, a text message can be misunderstood too because you miss out on a speaker’s intonation (语调).
Of course, either texting or talking is just a way of communication. Imagine two people trying to communicate with you at the same time—one is texting, and the other is talking. Who would you pay more attention to It’s up to us to choose which way of communication in different situations!
36.What is one advantage of texting mentioned in the passage
A.It is always faster than talking. B.It is more personal than face-to-face communication.

B.Because it can be misunderstood because of the lack (缺少) of intonation.
C.Because it is only for private use.

An Unforgettable Class Activity
Looking back on my junior high school years, I’ve taken part in many amazing class activities. Among them, a drama-performing activity in English is really unforgettable.
In that class, our teacher first divided us into several groups. Then, we spent some time reading the story, Next, we discussed roles and writing our own scripts. Finally, it was our turn to act the drama out. Everyone of us was excited but a bit nervous.
I was lucky to play the lead role. Standing in front of my class, I took a deep breath and tried my best to perform. My vivid body languages brought the characters to life.
This activity is unforgettable because it not only improved my English-speaking skills but also strengthened our teamwork spirit. It was a wonderful moment filled with laughter, efforts, and growth.
