Charlie Bucket lived in a tiny wooden house with his parents and four grandparents.
Every night. Grandpa Joe told Charlie stories about Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory. “The factory has rivers of hot chocolate!” Grandpa Joe would say. “And candy trees that grow sweets!”
Charlie’s family was very poor. They could only afford one chocolate bar a year, on Charlie’s birthday. One cold February morning, as Charlie walked home from school, he found a collar bill on the ground and bought a bar of chocolate with it. It was a golden ticket inside a chocolate wrapper (包装纸)! The ticket said: “Come visit the world’s greatest chocolate factory. Only five children will be allowed inside. Find this ticket and you may come!”
The next day, Charlie stood at the factory gates with four other children:
Augustus Gloop: A boy who loved eating.
Veruca Salt: A girl who always wanted more.
Violet Beauregarde: A girl who chewed (嚼) gum (口香糖) all day.
Mike Teavee: A boy who watched TV all the time.
Mr. Wonka, the factory owner, opened the gates. He wore a purple coat and a top hat. “Welcome!” he said.
“Let’s see magic!”
The Chocolate Room
The first room had a chocolate waterfall flowing into a river. Augustus ran toward the river. “Stop!” shouted Mr. Wonka. “The chocolate is too hot!” But Augustus fell in and disappeared quickly. “Greedy (贪婪的) children always get into trouble,” Mr. Wonka said.
The Invention Room
Next, they saw Oompa-Loompas (little workers) making special candies:
Candy that never gets smaller
Gum that tastes like a three-course meal
Pills that make people tiny
Violet took the gum even after Mr. Wonka warned her. Her face turned blue, and she became as round as a ball! The Oompa-Loompas sang:
“Greedy gums make you grow! Good children never chew too slow!”
The Nut Room
The workers here were all little squirrels. Veruca wanted to keep the squirrel as a pet. “I want it!” she screamed.
But the squirrels threw her into the trash bin.
Mike tried to use a TV machine to send himself into a movie. Instead, he became very small!
Only Charlie remained. He had listened carefully and never taken extra caud. Mr. Wonka smiled. “You are kind and honest. Will you take care of my factory ” Charlie asked, “Can my family live here too ” “Of course!” said Mr. Wonka. “Let’s start our new life!”

Chinese star skier Xu Mengtao won the gold medal on February 9 at the 2025 Harbin Asian Winter Games. Over 1,200 athletes from 34 countries and regions competed in men’s, women’s, and mixed-team events, adding excitement and diversity (多样性) to the competitions.
But do you know where the birthplace of skiing is in China On January 16th, 2025, the Altay Museum of the Origin (起源) of Human Skiing was opened to the public. The museum shows how skiing started and developed in Altay.
In 2005, some cave paintings were found in the area. They show ancient people hunting with skis on their feet and poles (杆) in their hands. Experts say the paintings could be more than 10,000 years old. For this reason, Altay is known as one of the birthplaces of skiing.
Altay is covered in snow for nearly 180 days a year. In ancient times, local people used a special kind of ski to get around in the snow. They added the horse skin (皮) to the bottom of it. This made it easier to go downhill and prevented them falling over when people went uphill.
As time went on, better ways of transport appeared. Skiing began to develop as a winter sport for the locals. Today Altay holds many skiing events every year. Skiers come from near and far to take part. People also go to several ski resorts (度假区) in this area like Jikepulin International Ski Resort.
The 2025 Harbin Asian Winter Games highlighted (强调) speed, creativity, and teamwork. Its slogan (标语), “Dream of Winter, Love among Asia”, encouraged the youth around the world to love skiing and winter sports!

If you are reading this, you were probably born in the 2000s. The oh-ohs. The 21st century. That would make you young, creative, and no doubt smart. Maybe good-looking, too. Right But what do other people think about your generation
Some adults worry that you’re more interested in the screen in front of you than the world around you. They think of you as the “face-down generation” because you use your phone so much. They wonder how you will deal with school, friends and family. Are today’s teenagers too busy texting and taking selfies (自拍) to become successful in real life or “IRL”, as you would say
Other adults worry that today’s youth are spoilt (溺爱) and don’t want to face the challenges of adult life. Many children born in the 1990s and 2000s were raised by “helicopter parents” who were always there to guide and help their children with a busy schedule filled with homework and after-school activities such as dancing, drawing, or sports. With parents who do everything for them, today’s youth seem to prefer to live like teenagers even when they are in their 20s or 30s.
Does the face-down generation need a heads-up Well, probably not. The fact is that many of today’s teenagers are better educated and more creative than past generations. They also seem to be willing to become leaders. More young people than ever volunteer to help their communities. There are also brave young people such as Malala Yousafzai, the teenager who won the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize for pushing girls’ rights to go to school.
So if you’re one of the oh-ohs, there’s no reason to be worried about the future. Things are looking up for the face-down generation.
22.Who is this passage written for
A.The teenager. B.The teachers. C.The parents. D.The oh-ohs.
23.What do helicopter parents always do
A.Help and direct their children.
B.Do homework instead of children.
C.Guide children to face challenges.
D.Plan a busy schedule for children.
24.How does the writer feel about the younger generation
A.Anxious. B.Confident. C.Dissatisfied. D.Helpless
25.What can we learn according to the passage
A.Parents should put down their phones.
B.Young people should be better educated.
C.The oh-ohs should be hopeful about the future.
D.Face-down generation should raise their heads.

Jimmy was upset when he found out Danny was being bullied. “I thought to myself, no one should be picked on for the way he looks or speaks.” said Jimmy. So Jimmy decided to wear the same suit and hat to school, too. “I did it to stand up for Danny and show him that bullying is not right. I wanted him to feel happy and safe and know that anywhere he goes he’ll be treated fairly by his friends,” Jimmy said. “I knew Danny would like it. The Rapid Development of Technology
Hello everyone! Today I’m honored to be here and talk about the rapid development of technology.
Technology has greatly changed our study and life. Robots can help us clean houses and do dangerous jobs, saving us time and energy. Tools like Doubao and DeepSeek are amazing. We can ask them questions about study, and they offer clear answers at once. Also, online classes make learning more convenient as we can study anywhere through the Internet.
However, rapid technology development brings challenges. To deal with them, we should develop creative thinking. This helps us solve problems in new ways. Teamwork is also important because we can share ideas and learn from each other. Besides, we should use electronic products wisely. For example, set time limits for using them to avoid addiction. Also, choose useful learning apps instead of spending too much time on games or social media.
I believe future technology will be even more amazing. It may make our life easier and help us explore the unknown world. Let’s get ready to embrace the wonderful future of technology!
Thank you for listening!
