Ⅹ.Growing Up
During the past years, I have met some problems and tried my best to solve them. Let me share some of my experiences with you.
Speaking of schoolwork, I used to be bad at maths and get poor grades. To improve my grades,I asked my maths teacher for help and made great progress. When it comes to family relationships,I used to argue with my parents because I thought they didn't understand me. One day, after trying to have a talk with them, I deeply regretted what I had said before. I said sorry to them. As for habits, I used to stay up late so I always felt sleepy during the day. Then I tried to go to bed early. Now I'm always full of energy. All in all, small changes can help us grow into better people.期中质量评估

Sign language is the main way for deaf people to communicate. Since they can't hear, talking to hearing people can be hard. Luckily, sign language translators(翻译) are there to help.
Hao Shuxin, 25, sees sign language as her first language. “I picked up sign language before I could even talk, as my parents are deaf,” she said. In 2018, she became a sign language translator at a law firm(律所) in Chongqing. Her work needs her to translate for deaf people.
Hao sometimes feels stressed at work because accuracy(准确性) is important in translation for law firms. So she always explains things earnestly. Her stress also comes from the fact that sign language has “dialects(方言)”. The same word can be expressed with different hand gestures(手势) depending on where a deaf person is from. There are also differences in grammar between Chinese and sign language.
Having travelled to over 30 cities in China because of the job, she has learned about the special ways deaf people across the country use sign language.

A drama team was preparing for their show Snow White. Tony was chosen as the director, but he faced a big problem when giving out the roles: two members, Lisa and Mary, both wanted to play the princess. Tony kept silent because he didn't want to make either of them upset. His silence made Lisa leave angrily, and the team's mood turned bad.
Ms White, their teacher, gave Tony two pieces of advice: first, listen to each member's reason for wanting the role; second, explain his final decision clearly, so everyone understands it's fair(公平的). Tony then let them perform(表演) a short scene from the drama, and the team voted for the better one. When I was in Grade 7, I was very shy and afraid to speak in class. I always sat at the back of the classroom and never raised my hand to answer questions. One day, our English teacher, Ms Li, asked me to read an article in front of the class. My face turned red and my voice was so quiet that almost no one could hear me. My classmates laughed. After that, I felt even more scared to speak in public.
But Ms Li didn't give up on me. She often talked to me after class and encouraged me to practise speaking more. She told me that everyone makes mistakes and it's okay to be nervous. She also asked me to join the English speech club. At first, I was worried that I would do badly, but with Ms Li's help, I started to feel more confident.
After a few months, I took part in the school English speech competition. I practised every day, and Ms Li helped me improve my speech. Finally, I won third prize. That day, I felt so proud of myself. Now, I'm not shy anymore. I love speaking in public. I even want to be a speaker in the future.
