My husband went to a friend’s party, leaving me home alone. It was a Friday night, and with nothing planned,
I turned to my porcelain (瓷器) collection. It needed rearranging. My goal was to create a display that was not only
pleasing to me but also appealing to others.
That task consumed much time. The next morning when my husband arrived home, I hardly noticed. I was
fully engaged in selecting pieces that needed to be moved around to show them to the best effect. Time flew by, and
I didn’t realize it then, because I was in the “flow”.
Flow is defined as a mental state in which a person performing an activity is fully immersed in a feeling of
energized focus, complete involvement, and enjoyment in the activity process. Art collecting can be deeply
engaging and fulfilling, making it an ideal candidate for experiencing flow. This hobby is rich with opportunities
for the appreciation of beauty, organization, and intellectual stimulation. The characteristics agree perfectly with
the characteristics of flow, which overall enhance our well-being and life satisfaction.
When I finally stood that morning, surrounded by my rearranged treasures, I realized something important.
My husband’s laughter at my messy appearance and the unsteady teacups on the bookshelf wasn’t just amusement
— it was a witness to transformation. “You look like a time traveler,” he said. Indeed, I had journeyed through
centuries of craftsmanship, across cultures, into that rare space where time disappears into pure presence.
In our age of digital distraction, where tasks multiply but satisfaction decreases, my night with the porcelain
reminded me of a simple truth: real satisfaction comes from being fully present in what we love. Those quiet hours
of rearranging the porcelain were more than just organizing objects — they were an invitation to slow down, to
connect with beauty and history, and to rediscover the joy of complete focus.
4. What happened to the author while rearranging the porcelain collection
A. She experienced conflicts with her husband.
B. She was too absorbed to notice anything else.
C. She kept checking the clock to ensure progress.
D. She worked out a way to promote her efficiency.
5. According to the passage, which of the following is NOT a characteristic of the “flow” state
A. Being completely involved in what you are doing.
B. Becoming so focused that you don’t notice time passing.
C. Feeling active, focused, and happy while doing the activity.
D. Working quickly because you want to finish and see the final result.
6. Why did the author’s husband say she looked like “a time traveler”
A Because she was dressed in old-fashioned clothes.
B. Because she worked continuously through the night.
C. Because she constantly mixed pieces from different times.
D. Because she was mentally connected with historical objects.
7. What might be the best title for the text
A. My Reflection on Art Collections.
B. My Time Travel with Porcelain One Day.
C. Finding Joy in Focus: My “Flow” Experience.
D. Enjoying the Art of Porcelain: A Personal Story.
【答案】4 B 5. D 6. D 7. C

In the parks and backyards of Staten Island, disease ecologist Maria Diuk-Wasser was surprised by what she
saw. Ticks — and lots of them — nestled in wood piles. They are more than she found in the previous year.
Diuk-Wasser had been tracking tick activity in New York City for years. “A similar phenomenon may be unfolding
nearby,” She says.
According to Diuk-Wasser, these insects can live in any area that’s forested or contains leaf litter. Ticks long
occupied the land where cities now stand, but were displaced in the 1800s as forests were cut down for agricultural
purposes and forced to go wherever there were forests. But as farming declined in the US in the 1900s, areas near
cities were reforested with city parks.
And ticks have moved into these parks by hitchhiking on the backs of other animals. Ticks can exist wherever
there are hosts — whether that be mice, birds, or squirrels. Among all of them, the biggest factor that influences
whether an urban tick community will become bigger is whether there’s a pathway for deer to enter. As long as
deer visit, we will find ticks. Following the cities’ reforestation, wildlife — including deer and white-legged mice
— returned, ticks in tow.
Meanwhile, climate change is majorly impacting tick activity. Decades ago, ticks would die out as winter
came, but warmer weather has extended tick season.
The possibility you’ll be exposed to an infected tick in a city park is the same as the chance you’ll run into one
on a wooded hike. Roughly 20 to 30 percent of baby ticks are infected with the bacteria that cause Lyme disease,
research shows. “You do see cases where people acquired Lyme disease from urban parks,” says Diuk-Wasser.
“Therefore, you should protect yourself in certain urban green spaces the same way you are hiking or camping in
the wild.”
8. What surprised Diuk-Wasser in Staten Island
A. Ticks failed to adapt to life there. B. Ticks expanded in great numbers.
C Ticks had escaped to nearby areas. D. Ticks were hiding under wood piles.
9. What made ticks decline in the 1800s
A. Changes of land use. B. Rising deer populations.
C. Overuse of chemicals. D. Construction of city parks.
10. What does the underlined words “in tow” in paragraph 3 mean
A. Driven. B. Threatened. C. Following. D. Disappearing.
11. What is the author’s attitude towards the reforestation of areas near cities
A. Positive. B. Cautious. C. Critical. D. Indifferent.
【答案】8. B 9. A 10. C 11. B
D
Imagine the final stretch of a marathon: your body aches, but the cheering crowd gives you energy to run
faster. Similarly, a basketball team wins more home games in front of their own fans. Even you might solve a
problem faster when someone watches. These common experiences all point to a basic psychological principle.
This phenomenon is known as social facilitation (促进), which describes how individuals can perform tasks
differently when in the company of others compared to when they are alone. The concept was first proposed by
psychologist Norman Tripplett, who noticed that cyclists raced faster in groups. He tested his theory with a simple
experiment where children were tasked with winding fishing line. Tripplett observed that the children who were
being around others moved faster, suggesting that a peer (同龄人) nearby can motivate.
But later studies found conflicting evidence. In another test, participants were given a more complex task, like
memorizing a list of words. Those in front of others performed worse than those working alone. This contradiction
(矛盾) led to a key change of the theory. The presence of an audience tends to improve performance on simple
tasks. On the other hand, for novel tasks, the same audience can hurt performance.
Why does this happen Psychologists suggest the key reason is our concern about being judged by others.
Since approval and disapproval often depend on others’ evaluations, we naturally become more alert in front of an
audience. This alertness helps with mastered skills, but gets in the way of learning new ones.
There isn’t one recipe for success, but social facilitation theory helps to point us in the right direction. To
improve a well-practiced skill like running or playing an instrument, strategically seek an audience by joining a
club or performing publicly. If you struggle when watched, practice alone until you gain confidence. By taking
advantage of social settings wisely, we can use the audience effect to achieve our best performance.
12. What is the main idea of social facilitation
A Group interaction enhances learning efficiency.
B. Individual performance peaks in competitive settings.
C. Social situations have predictable effects on behavior.
D. The presence of others can influence our performance.
13. Which factor can explain the conflicting results in paragraph 3
A The size of the audience. B. The difficulty of the task.
C. The type of the reward. D. The personality of the participant.
14. What is the root cause of social facilitation
A. Evaluation anxiety. B. Peer pressure.
C. Competitive desire. D. Personal standard.
15. What does the author suggest we do about the phenomenon
A. Gradually increase audience size. B. Thoughtfully manage social contexts.
C. Actively observe others' performances. D. Strategically seek supportive audiences.
【答案】12. D 13. B 14. A 15. B
第二节(共 5 小题;每小题 2.5 分,满分 12.5 分)
根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
Body Language in the Virtual World
As social beings, we naturally interpret body language as an expression of mood or intention in real life.
___16___ Here are four body language considerations that will result in your bigger digital impact in video calls.
Make a positive and lasting impression. The way you hold yourself affects how others perceive you. ___17___
Similarly, slumping on the sofa conveys unwillingness to take the task seriously. Maintaining a proper posture by
sitting up straight is the key to making a positive impression from the beginning.
___18___ In video calls, you need to be aware that less is more. Too many hand movements can be
distracting in a small screen — people need time to take in what they are hearing. And when you are listening to
others, glancing at your palms and drumming your fingers could also indicate to others that you are either bored or
frustrated.
Guard against “resting bored face” syndrome (综合征). Our facial expressions are visible on screen, so
demonstrating an objective response to whatever you see and hear is a must-have. But communicating that you are
mindful at all times is challenging during a video meeting when “resting bored face” syndrome can set in — a
facial expression that others register as boredom. ___19___
Be present and active — don’t multitask. Don’t check your email or tackle other work tasks when you join a
video call. ___20___ While you may be confident that you can successfully do two or more things at once, and not
lose track of what’s being discussed, the non-verbal clues you are sending other participants will say otherwise.
A. Master the art of employing gestures.
B. Use fewer hand movements to avoid conflicts.
C. Even if you are silent, others can see what you are up to.
D. For instance, crossed arms can imply defensiveness or annoyance.
E. This also applies to our virtual workplace with common video calls.
F. To avoid this, remember to nod, smile and lean forward occasionally.
G. Therefore, it’s effective to straighten up to leave a positive impression.

The increasing use of AI-powered translation pens among students has sparked a widespread discussion. As a
learning tool, it undoubtedly brings both conveniences and potential drawbacks.
On the one hand, translation pens can significantly boost learning efficiency. They provide instant definitions
and pronunciations for unfamiliar words with a simple scan, saving the time spent referring to heavy dictionaries.
This convenience allows students to read more English materials with greater confidence. On the other hand,
over-reliance is a significant concern. The ease of getting instant answers might discourage students from guessing
the meaning from the context or memorizing words actively, which are crucial for language acquisition.
Furthermore, simplified explanations on a small screen may sometimes lead to a lack of deep understanding
compared to detailed entries in a traditional dictionary.
Personally, I believe translation pens are useful, but they should be used wisely — we should use the pen for
assistance while actively engaging in thinking and memorizing.
第二节 读后续写(满分 25 分)
47. 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
With three little babies, I never took a break, completely ignoring any self-care. When I was too tired to make
myself dinner, I’d just eat the kids’ leftover cereal (麦片粥). I thought this was a great plan to lose some weight and
called it the “Cereal for Diet.” Back then,I knew nothing about nutrition. Of course, the Cereal for Diet failed, as
did all my other attempts.
One day, after cleaning up all the mess my kids had made, I went out for a walk. I passed a gym. I looked
away.Healthy people went there, but this was not me. While turning away,I saw an ad for a six-month fitness
challenge. I continued my fast walk in the opposite direction, but that sign just stayed on my mind.
I still remember what finally motivated me to sign up for the challenge. It was a ten-minute period in which
my son threw his spaghetti plate straight up, sending noodles and sauce flying everywhere. As soon as my husband
got home,I said, “You’re in charge.”
I made a beeline for the gym, marched straight in and said, “Fix me.” And I was assigned a young and fit
trainer, Emily. She asked what my goals were for the six-month challenge. At that moment, I was speechless.
Noticing my embarrassment, Emily just handed me the heaviest weights I had in my life and said, “Okay, so in six
months you will compete in a body-building show.” I tried explaining, “No, I don’t want to do a show. That sounds
scary.” She ignored my fear, and we jumped into strict workouts and nutrition planning.
Over the next six months, Emily forced me to focus on myself — my wants and my needs. I learned to see
food as strength and sweat as progress. I learned how to fuel my body instead of starving it, balancing proteins,
carbs, and fats. Emily pushed me past my limits, correcting my form, timing my breaks, and cheering me on when I
wanted to quit. I improved every day in the gym.

1.续写词数应为 150 左右;
2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。

One day, Emily handed me an application form. “You’re ready,” she said with a confident smile. It was for a
local body-building show, the very thing I’d once feared. My heart raced as I looked at the form, but then I thought
of all the progress I'd made. I took a deep breath and filled it out, determined to face my fear. I knew this was a
chance to prove to myself that I could achieve something I never thought possible.
Soon, I jumped into weeks of preparation. Every day, I spent hours in the gym, following Emily’s strict
workout plan. I also paid close attention to my diet, making sure I got the right nutrients. As the show day drew
near, I felt a mix of excitement and nervousness. But with Emily’s constant encouragement and support, I felt more
and more confident. Finally, the big day arrived, and I stepped onto the stage, ready to show the world what I’d

1.续写词数应为 150 左右;
