People usually add colours to create paintings, but knife painters use knives 4 (take) away colours on specially made coated paper. Last night one of my Chinese friends took me to a concert of Chinese folk music. The piece which was played on the erhu especially moved me. The music was strangely beautiful, but under the beauty I sensed strong sadness and pain. The piece had a simple name, Erquan Yingyue (Moon Reflected on the Second Spring), but it was one of the most moving pieces of music that I've ever heard. The erhu sounded so sorrowful that I almost cried along with it as I listened. Later I looked up the history of Erquan Yingyue on the internet, and I began to understand the melancholy (伤悲) in the music.
The music was written by Abing, a folk musician who was born in the city of Wuxi in 1893. His mother died when he was very young. Abing's father taught him to play many musical instruments, such as the drums, dizi and erhu, and by the age of 17, Abing had already been known for his remarkable musical ability. However, after his father died, Abing's life grew worse. He developed a serious illness and became blind. For several years, he had no home. He lived on the streets and played music to make money. Even after Abing got married and had a home again, he continued to sing and play on the streets. He performed in this way for many years.
Abing's amazing musical skills made him very popular during his lifetime. By the end of his life, he could play over 600 pieces of music. Many of these were written by Abing himself. It is a pity that only six pieces of music in total were recorded for the future world to hear, but his popularity continues to this day. Today, Abing's Erquan Yingyue is a piece which all the great erhu masters play and praise. It has become one of China's national treasures. Its sad beauty not only paints a picture of Abing's own life but also reminds people of their deepest sorrows and painful experiences.
( )1. What's the passage mainly about
A. A folk musician and his famous piece of music.
B. What makes the erhu sound special and beautiful.
C. The history and development of Chinese folk music.
D. Why Abing became popular among music lovers.

A. on the street
B. on the internet

D. at a music class
( )3. What influence did Abing's father have on him
A. He encouraged Abing to become a music teacher.
B. He taught Abing how to play different instruments.
C. He helped Abing record his first piece of music.
D. He advised Abing to study music in another city.
( )4. Which of the following difficulties did Abing face in his life
① He became blind.
② He was not able to record most of his music.
③ He was once homeless.
④ He had little money to live on.
A. ①②③
B. ①②④
C. ②③④
D. ①③④
( )5. The underlined word "It" in the last paragraph refers to________.
A. the erhu
B. Erquan Yingyue
C. Abing's own life
D. Abing's music talent
( )6. What does the writer mean by saying the music "paints a picture of Abing's own life"

Grandpa looked at his old sketchbooks, then at my 9 face. "You know," he said, "that might not be a bad idea. Maybe it's never too late to share your passion with others."

One day, Ma Zhijie, a minister in the Song dynasty, took out a painting he cherished. It was called Bull Fighting by the artist Dai Song. Ma loved this painting very much and kept it in a special place.
One sunny afternoon, Ma took the painting out to dry it in the air. While he was doing this, a farmer came to pay his taxes. The farmer saw the painting and examined it carefully. Then he started to laugh quietly.
"Do you understand art " Ma asked. "Why are you laughing at my painting "
The farmer replied, "Sir, I'm just a simple farmer. I don't know anything about art. But I do know a lot about bulls because I work with them every day. When bulls fight, they always put their tails down tightly between their legs. You cannot pull their tails out, even if you are very strong. But look at this painting - the two bulls are fighting, but their tails are standing up high in the air. This is not what really happens when bulls fight!"
