Have you ever experienced peer pressure For example, one day you’re with some friends playing video games and someone mentions, “Oh, that game is easy. So not worth the time.” The others agree. Although you enjoy the game, not wanting to argue with them, you go along with the crowd. That is the peer pressure, which is also called peer influence. You will adopt a certain type of behavior, dress, or attitude in order to be accepted as a member of your peers.
We are all influenced by our peers at any age. As teens, it is more likely to be influenced by your peers around you. It is because you are away from home, and you may spend more time with your friends than with your family. As you become more independent, your peers naturally play a greater role in your life.
According to researchers, teens can make correct decisions when they are calm. However, when they make decisions in the heat of the moment, their decisions are often influenced by their peers. In a recent study, a teen played a video game, either alone or with friends watching. The researchers discovered that the risks doubled when their friends were watching, compared with when they played alone.
Just as people can influence us to make unwise choices, they can also influence us to make good ones. A teen might join in a volunteer project because his or her friends are doing it, or get good grades. In fact, friends often encourage each other to study, or try out for sports. While we are always influenced by those around us, the decision to act or not is up to us. So when it comes to decision making, the choice is up to you.
23.Why is the example of playing video games given in Paragraph 1
A.To explain what peer pressure is.
B.To test if people have peer pressure.
C.To show how to deal with peer pressure.
D.To introduce video games.

A.Because they need to compete with their peers.
B.Because they spend more time with their peers.
C.Because they have different ideas from their peers.
D.Because they learn a lot from their peers.
25.How does peer pressure influence teens positively
A.It makes them more independent.
B.It encourages them to develop themselves in positive ways.
C.It keeps them away from unwise risks.
D.It always helps them make good decisions.
26.What does the writer want to tell us
A.Mistakes can be avoided if we think twice.
B.We are supposed to choose friends carefully.
C.It is important to make decisions by ourselves.
D.Peers can influence us to make unwise choices.

The world needs help to make it a better place. What can we do to give others a hand
Be kind to negative (消极的) people. When people face trouble, they get upset and lose heart easily. Then they become negative. If you want to help, be kind to those people. They need your help, care, and love. Through your kindness, you can change their ideas of themselves and the world, and become their light in the darkness (黑暗).
Volunteer in your neighborhood. If you’re looking to help others, volunteering is your best way. You can volunteer to help people facing difficulties in many ways. Also, you might bring out the best in yourself when helping others.
Share your experiences. Helping others isn’t just about giving money or useful things; you can also share your experiences to help others when they feel lost. Your real- life experiences can provide useful lessons to help them solve life problems.
Help around the house. Helping others isn’t only about helping strangers; it’s also about helping your family. In a family, it’s not one person’s job to do housework. Try to do more housework even without being asked. Spend some time folding your clothes, preparing dinner, and so on. No one at home should serve as your servant (仆人). You’re a family member, just like the rest. Show your great love and help your family.

How long does a year last ________ But your parents might say that a whole year can pass “in the blink of an eye”. Why does time seem to pass faster as we get older
According to scientists from Duke University in the USA, our brains become weak and change over time. ________ Babies, for example, move their eyes much more often than adults because they’re processing what they see faster. They take in a lot of information and do many things in one day. This makes them feel like a single day lasts for a long time. ________ So older people receive less information during a day than younger people. This causes things to seem as though they’re happening more quickly.
People may also “feel” time differently for psychological (心理的) reasons. ________ Have you ever noticed that when you recall (回忆) your firsts (the first day of school, the first family vacation, the first birthday party, etc), they seem to slow down a lot That’s because when something is a “first”, there are many exciting things to remember. Recalling these memories makes you feel like they took forever.
For many adults, life is normal. When they look back, they might feel like there are not many new things to remember. So time seems to be moving faster to them.
A.Children might say that a year lasts forever.
B.The third thing you can do is spend time in nature.
C.People may tell time by the number of unforgettable events.
D.This change causes the ability to take in and process new information to go down.
E.However, as people’s brains degrade (退化) over time, less information will be processed in the same period of time.

Hello, Grade Seven friends. I’m James from an online travel website. Today let’s take an online trip to three special communities around the world. Ready, let’s go. First, we will visit Brighton in England. Here you will see nice cottages, and farmhouses along the beach. Friendly neighbours help each other repair things. Next, we will travel to Queens. It’s in New York, the USA. Many families live in tall town houses. The community has a shared living room for everyone. The volunteers organize barbecue parties there. The last stop is Quanzhou, a seaside city in China. You can try Oolong tea. It is famous all over the world. The craftspeople here also teach children to carve stones into art. They help keep Chinese culture alive. Every community has its own spirit. Let’s respect their traditions, and learn from them.
