Ever wonder why we feel so good when walking barefoot on the grass or planting our feet in the sand Notice that we seem to sleep so well at the beach This is scientifically proven:when our bodies make direct contact with the ground, it allows the flow of the earth's beneficial and free energy into our bodies. We take in the positive, and let go of the negative, and our entire well-being is affected in a good way.
That gets us to think even more — why do some people always seem calm and happy,no matter what happens in the world There seems to be a direct connection between fulfillment1 and happiness.
You can be one of those people, too! Here are some pieces of advice:
Give yourself a little time off, even if it's just five minutes.Do something you love, whether it's gardening, playing or just wandering.
Take care of yourself.A hot bath,a massage(按摩),and a good book—these can all give you a “quiet time” when you just focus on yourself.
Don't gobble2 your food. This is usually a problem for us,since our fast food culture seems to forgive us for eating on the run.But enjoy, taste and smell because your digestion will be glad if you do it,and you'll end up being a lot calmer and focused.
Feeling anxious Just breathe!Calm down by taking a few deep breaths.
Reconnect with old friends. The Internet makes it easier than ever to find people whom you haven't seen for years. Not only does it “complete your story”,but you'll start to remember some very joyous3 and humorous memories—things you haven't thought of for years.
Practise gratitude. This seems to be said time and time again, but with a good reason—it helps us focus on the positive, rather than the negative.Even the worst day has a few bright spots,so every night, make a list of at least three things for which you are grateful.

I looked out at the smiling faces packed into the school hall.Flashes from cameras lit up in all directions. The applause filled my ears.I had done it.I had really done it.
Just a few months earlier,I would never have pictured myself acting in a play in front of two hundred people.“Not for a million dollars,” I would have said. But when the time came,I got up on stage and faced one of my greatest fears—
and discovered I could do more than I ever gave myself credit for.I found a new person inside me,a much more daring, outgoing person who had been hidden all along, just waiting for the opportunity to appear.
If not for my teacher,Mrs Sather,I might never have found that opportunity.
In the first and second grade,I was extremely shy.I had friends, but it just wasn't in my personality to be very outgoing, even when I knew someone well.I was afraid I would do or say something wrong,so usually I just smiled and listened to other people's conversations.I did well in school and I loved to write. However,I would escape into my writing, where I could be myself and never had to worry about what other people thought of me.In my stories,I was never shy.
My teacher,Mrs Sather, always encouraged me to write more. She told our class to go after our dreams and dig in with both hands.I think she was one of the first people to see my inner strength. One day,she announced that our class was going to perform a play she had written.“I'll begin to cast everyone tomorrow,” she said.“I need someone who is not afraid to be on stage in front of a lot of people to play the lead part of Dorothy.Anybody wants to try ” A few excited hands shot up—mine,of course, was not one of them—and
Mrs Sather smiled.“We'll talk more about it tomorrow,” she said. Then the bell rang and my classmates slowly left the classroom.

Hearing Mrs Sather's words,I realised it was time to make a change.I decided to throw off my shy cloak.I wanted to prove that I also could do something good in public. After seconds of hesitation,I nodded my head, confidently saying “Mrs Sather,I want to,no,I am determined to play the role. And I will try my best to perform it well.”Looking at me with a big smile on her face,Mrs Sather said “I believe in you.If you met some problems, you can turn to me.”“Thank you!”I left her office happily.

My husband,Donald, took our daughter Sarah out for some ice cream the night before driving her to college. As they were walking back to the car, they saw a young man sitting on the ground and giving his puppy a cone.
“A cute dog,” Donald said as they walked by.“A free dog,” the young man replied.Donald asked him what he meant by that and the man explained. He was moving away from Vermont and did not think the travel would be good for the dog.He had raised her from a small puppy. The man said she was a 6-month-old cross between the Doberman and the Labrador named Rhubarb.Donald took his phone number. The rest,as they say,is history.
Rhubarb was a sweet dog and very friendly and loved everyone.Whenever someone came to the house, she was always happy. She also got along with Willie.Willie was not well and died about a year later, but, fortunately,Rhubarb's company helped him keep going for longer than that if he had been alone.
But the interesting thing about Rhubarb was that she never barked. She would sometimes get excited when she saw a chipmunk(花栗鼠) and make a little crying sound.
One hot night when she was about 4 years old,we went to bed with the windows open and the doors unlocked. At about 3 a.m.,I woke up to the sound of Rhubarb barking.I woke Donald and we got out of bed.
Rhubarb was coming towards us.We turned on the lights and noticed the door to the kitchen was open. Then we saw the door leading into the house from the garage was also open.We quickly locked all the doors, and we did not get any sleep that night. It was deep into the night,so we didn't call the police.
The next day we noticed there was cigarette ash on the floor._______________________________________________

The next day we noticed there was cigarette ash on the floor.Actually,it was a thief who entered our kitchen and garage.Much to our relief, thanks to Rhubarb, the thief stole nothing.I called the police to report the break-in.I also told them nothing had been taken, but they sent a police officer over to talk with us anyway. In fact, recently many local homes had been broken in on the weekend. Most people's wallets and purses had been stolen.
My purse was right next to the door. However,Rhubarb had scared the thief away before he or she could steal it. When the police officer left,he said we should reward Rhubarb with a big steak dinner.Rhubarb lived to be almost 12 years old,but that night was the only time she barked in her entire life.Fortunately, she never saw the need to warn us of any other danger. We were very thankful to Rhubarb. We loved her like a member of the family.(共60张PPT)

To look after these naughty boys is really difficult.
It’s important to answer her questions as honestly as you can.
It’s wrong to make fun of people just because they’re old.
It’s easy for him to work out this math problem.
It was careless of him to make such a mistake.
=He was careless to make such a mistake.
To see is to believe.
Walking is a good form of exercise for both young and old.
To love others is to be loved.
(If you love others, you will be loved by others.)
The museum requires one million dollars to build.
=To build the museum requires one million dollars.
The matter is hard to deal with.
=To deal with the matter is hard.
Where to put the bikes is being discussed.
