Dear Mr. Hunt,
My parents are very strict with me and there are many rules in my family. For example, I can’t play computer games even in my free time on weekends. I hope I could be allowed to play computer games sometimes. They will make me relaxed. I have to do much homework. After finishing the homework, I have to do some work my mom gives me. I can’t watch TV on school nights and I can’t buy my own clothes, but I can buy school things. I enjoy doing homework with my classmates, but my parents don’t allow me to do that because they think we will talk instead of studying. I disagree. In fact, we learn a lot from each other.
Yours,
Mary
16.B 17.C 18.A

根据文章第一段“In some cases, they already do better than doctors at diagnosing illness.”
根据第二段“Anthony Sheldon…He predicts robots will do the main job of transferring information and teachers will be like helpers.”
根据文章第三段“In some parts of the world, there aren’t enough teachers and 9–16% of children under the age of 14 don’t go to school. That problem could be partly solved by robots because they can teach anywhere and won’t get stressed, or tired, or move somewhere for an easier, higher-paid job.” 因此,“A robot teacher is better than no teacher at all.”
根据文章最后一段“Teachers waste a lot of time doing non-teaching work, including more than 11 hours a week marking homework. If robots could cut the time teachers spend marking homework and writing reports, teachers would have more time and energy for the parts of the job humans do best.”

根据第3段“Once Mollie came up with an idea to create a temperature chart on the wall. When temperatures drop, the prices of some ice cream products will drop, too.”

During the past years, I have met some problems and I have tried my best to solve them. Let me share some of my experiences with you.
Speaking of schoolwork, I used to be bad at math and got poor grades. To improve my grades, I asked my teacher for help and made great progress. When it comes to relationships, I used to argue with my parents because I thought they didn’t understand me. One day, after trying to have a talk with them, I deeply regretted what I had said before. I said sorry to them. As for habits, I used to stay up late. I always felt sleepy during the day. Then I tried to go to bed early. Now I’m always full of energy.

Peer pressure is common for teenagers as we grow up. It can be positive or negative, and knowing how to deal with it helps us gain confidence. Below is a simple guide to understand and handle peer pressure wisely.
Type of Peer Pressure Examples How to Deal with Examples
Positive Friends encourage you to join the study club or exercise regularly. Accept it—it helps you grow and improve yourself.
Negative Classmates laugh at your hobby and force you to give it up to fit in. Talk to parents/teachers, be true to yourself, and don’t change for others.
Remember, true friends accept your differences. When facing negative peer pressure, believe in yourself and follow your heart. This is part of growing pains, and overcoming it will be a valuable gain.
16.Which of the following is an example of positive peer pressure
A.Being asked to skip classes with friends.
B.Being encouraged to join a study club.
C.Being laughed at for your strange hobby.
D.Being forced to give up your favorite sport.
17.What should you do when facing negative peer pressure

D.Hide your feelings and do as others say.

If you think of the jobs robots could never do, you would probably put doctors and teachers at the top of the list. It’s easy to imagine robot cleaners and factory workers, but some jobs need human connection and creativity. But are we underestimating (低估) what robots can do In some cases, they already do better than doctors at diagnosing and illness. Also, some patients might feel more comfortable sharing personal information with a machine than a person. Could there be a place for robots in education after all
British education expert Anthony Sheldon thinks so. And he even has a date for the robot takeover of the classroom: 2027. He predicts robots will do the main job of transferring (传递) information and teachers will be like helpers. Robots will read students’ faces or movements and maybe even brain signals. Then they will change the information so that they can fit for each student. It’s not a popular opinion and it’s unlikely robots will have the ability to really connect with humans like another human can.
One thing is certain, though. A robot teacher is better than no teacher at all. In some parts of the world, there aren’t enough teachers and 9–16% of children under the age of 14 don’t go to school. That problem could be partly solved by robots because they can teach anywhere and won’t get stressed, or tired, or move somewhere for an easier, higher-paid job.
Those negative aspects of teaching are something everyone agrees on. Teachers all over the world are leaving because it is a difficult job and they feel overworked. Perhaps the question is not “Will robots replace teachers ” but “How can robots help teachers ” Office workers can use software to do things like organizing and answering emails, arranging meetings and updating calendars. Teachers waste a lot of time doing non-teaching work, including more than 11 hours a week marking homework. If robots could cut the time teachers spend marking homework and writing reports, teachers would have more time and energy for the parts of the job humans do best.
19.What does the underlined word “diagnosing” in the first paragraph mean
A.Curing. B.Deciding. C.Preventing. D.Avoiding.
20.In Anthony Sheldon’s opinion, a robot teacher can ________.
A.transfer all information to the students
B.make teachers be its assistants in class
C.offer the students special information
D.take the place of real teachers in class
21.What does the underlined sentence in the third paragraph mean
A.A robot teacher is better than a human teacher.
B.A robot teacher can work continuously without any complaint.
C.A robot teacher doesn’t necessarily be better than a human teacher.
D.A robot teacher can read students’ ideas better than a human teacher.
22.How can robots help teaching in the future
A.They can do all the teaching for the teachers.
B.They can transfer all the information to the students.
C.They can organize the teaching activities for teachers.
D.They can finish the boring and repeated work for the teachers.

A six -year- old British girl is opening up her third candy store. She is said to be one of Britain’s youngest bosses (老板).
Mollie Price, whose stores are called “Mollie’s”, sells both British and American candies. The girl would like to open more candy stores. “It might sound crazy, but believe me,” Mollie says. “Mollie is the brains of the store. Lots of students are worried after the exams. How to solve it 31
Don’t think about the exams. Try to keep in mind that once the exam is over, you can’t go back or change anything. These will make you even more worried.
See your mistakes as lessons to learn from. 32 Remember that the purpose of an exam is to make you know your strengths and weaknesses (劣势) in your study. Then you can develop your skills in a right way.
33 Leave yourself alone for a few minutes and let all your worries go away during that time. Clear your mind from thinking about the exam by doing some interesting activities you enjoy. For example, if you feel relaxed when you watch a movie or read a book, do that. If you’re interested in sports, go outside and play some sports!
It’s normal to worry about your exams. 34 Now relax with something you enjoy and then start preparing early for your next exam.
