Perler beads, also known as“pindou” in China, have become very popular among young people. These small plastic beads are placed on pegboards(小钉板) to form patterns. Then, they are heated to a high temperature so that they join together to form a certain shape.
The craft first appeared in Sweden in the 1970s. At that time, it was made to help old people keep active and fight loneliness during the long winter months.Today, this simple craft is loved by many young Chinese. During the Spring Festival, the number of people booking for perler bead workshops was nearly 100 times higher than before!A recent survey shows that more than 60% of teenagers have tried this craft at least three times.
Why do young people love it so much One reason is that it helps them relax. When focusing on placing beads, they enter a state called“flow.” This makes them feel calm and enjoyable. Another reason is that it gives them a sense of control. In a fast-changing world, following a simple pattern and getting a predictable result make them feel good. Perler beads also help young people connect with others. After finishing a project, many share their work on social media and get lots of likes. Some even see it as a way to make friends———— enjoying a common hobby without feeling stressed.
Perler beads offer more than just fun. For many teenagers, this hands-on activity offers a break from their busy school lives. It allows them to create something real in a digital world. It helps young people relax, feel in control, and connect with others in a simple and creative way!

In the beautiful mountain village of Huangling, Wuyuan, JiangxiProvince, there is a famous and meaningful traditional activity called Autumn Sun-Drying(晒秋). Every living thing needs to reproduce. Reproducing means creating more members of your group. If plants only grow in one small place, they may compete for sunlight, water, and soil. To survive better, they need to send their young to different places. In order for plants to reproduce, they have to spread their seeds to other areas. 31
The simplest way is gravity(重力). Many seeds are inside of fruit. When a piece of fruit gets too heavy,it falls from a tree to the ground. Then wind or small animals may pass by and move the fallen fruit to another place. Rainwater carries the seeds to a new place as well. 32 Apples spread this way. When apples fall to the ground, their seeds can begin a new life under suitable conditions.
33 Dandelions(蒲公英) are a good example of this. Dandelion seeds are so light that when wind blows, it carries dandelion seeds to new places. Maple seeds also use wind. Their seeds are connected with long, thin leaves. Because they have special flat parts that look like wings. When the seed falls from the tree, its“wings” help it fly farther from the tree. Strong wind can take these seeds quite far away.
Some animals help plants spread their seeds. 34 Animals often eat fruit with seeds. While the seed is in the animal's body, it stays whole. The digestive(消化的) system of the animal does not harm the hard seed coat. When the seed leaves the animal, it's in a new place.
Ants also help spread seeds. Some seeds have a special smell that attracts ants. The ants bring the seeds back to their home, which of course is underground. 35 They leave the rest of the seed underground. After that, the seed can start growing. This is another smart way for plants to grow in new places.
A. They only eat a small part of the seed for food. B. Other plants use wind to spread their seeds. C. These help move the seed even farther away. D. Plants have developed all kinds of ways to do this. E. Sometimes animals will pick up the fruit and drop it in another area.

阅读下面的短文,根据短文内容回答问题。
The phrase“Love you, laoji” is very popular on social media now. It basically means“love yourself”. Why has this phrase caught on with young people This is partly because it sounds like talking to an old friend —— warm and a little bit funny. This friendly tone is a great starting point for actually practicing self-care.
So, how can you love“laoji”
First, talk to yourself as you would talk to a best friend. Try choosing kindness over criticism. Instead of thinking“Why am I so stupid ”, try“I tried my best, and I’ ll do better next time.”
Write down three good things you have done each day before bed. For example,“I finished my homework on time today ————— that's very disciplined(有纪律的).” or“I stayed calm and avoided fights —————————good emotional control!” Slowly, this habit helps you feel loved and cared for.
You can also create your own“charging list(充电清单)”. Enjoy some sunlight, take a warm bath, go for a walk, or listen to music. Choose one or two small things each day to feed and enrich your mind.
Loving yourself also requires the courage to say“no”. Draw clear lines with relationships that take away your energy, learning environments that hold you back, or situations that make you doubt yourself.Remind yourself:“My feelings matter. Protecting my peace is not wrong.”
Finally, reflect weekly. Set aside 20 minutes to ask yourself:“Which of my needs were overlooked this past week What helped my growth How do I wish to take care of myself next ” Write down your answers. These will help you get a clearer idea about your true needs instead of blindly following the pace of the world around you.
“Love you, laoji” teaches us to be our own best friend. So why not start today
