I was born in Nassib(叙利亚), a tiny village in Syria. My family lived a simple, calm life. But when I turned six, war started. Our happy days ended. I couldn’t play outside or see my friends. Every day felt scary. In 2012, my parents decided we must leave.
While packing, I stared at our house one last time. I thought we’d come back soon. Saying goodbye to friends hurt my heart.
We moved to Irbid(约旦), a big, busy city in Jordan. Everything felt strange and loud. At school, I felt alone because I knew no one. I cried often.
Later, I changed schools in fourth grade. There, I made friends! School became fun again. But soon, we had to move once more. In Jordan, my parents couldn’t work or buy a house because we were refugees(难民). We asked to go to Canada. After waiting two years, we got permission.
Leaving friends made me sad, but I felt excited too. I’d never flown on a plane before! When we took off at night, I saw city lights below like tiny stars. It looked magical. When we landed, snow was falling. Everything felt new again. I needed to learn English and French, get used to cold weather, and understand different traditions. But this time, I wasn’t afraid.
Now, four years later, I speak both English and French well. I’ve made many friends. Changing homes and schools was hard, but I learned that with time and courage, we can adapt(使适应) to anything. My journey taught me that even when life feels dark, there’s always light ahead.

Podareva, who is 28 years old, comes from the same place as Russia’s well-known poet Sergei Yesenin. Since she was little, she has liked poetry. As she grew up, she wrote lots of poems in Russian and English. In 2013, Podareva came to China to learn Chinese, and she found out about Chinese poetry.
Podareva has done many things in China over ten years. She won prizes for writing Chinese poems and made her own books of poems. The thing she will never forget is that one of her poems from 2020 became a song. And it was even better because she sang the song herself.
“Some people say good things about China right away,” Podareva says. “But I like to show my feelings about the country and tell about the friendship between China and Russia in different types of poems.”
Podareva wants to help people in both countries understand each other better. In 2020, she started making videos and putting them on the internet. She shows Chinese poems she wrote and talks about how China and Russia are different. Sometimes she makes funny videos to explain when Chinese people get things wrong about Russians.
Podareva also likes to paint. She thinks painting and writing poems are not so different. “Wang Wei was a great Chinese poet and painter,” she says. In December 2022, Podareva had a big show in Shanghai with 66 of her paintings.
“All art helps us share our thoughts,” Podareva says. “I want to make a website in Russia to tell Russians about China through my poems and paintings. This way, the two countries can be even better friends.”

Zero-Pollution Flights
Air travel is now a big part of our lives. Every day, planes take off and land all over the world, helping us get to faraway places quickly. But behind the fun and convenience of flying, there’s a serious problem: plane pollution.
Airplanes run on fuel made from oil. When they fly, they burn this fuel, releasing bad gases like carbon dioxide (CO2) into the air. These gases keep the heat from the sun in the air, stopping it from going out into space. This makes the Earth warmer.
As the world gets hotter, people are likely to see more bad weather events happen like floods, droughts, and wildfires. Plane pollution is growing faster than other kinds of travel pollution. Every year, lots of people take planes. If this keeps up, plane pollution might break records and make global warming even worse.
But there’s good news! Scientists are developing cleaner planes. Airbus, a big airplane company in Europe, is building a plane called ZEROe. It runs on green hydrogen instead of oil, so it makes almost no bad gases! The plane will use hydrogen fuel to create electricity, and this will make the plane go.
China is also doing great work in this area. Chinese scientists have made the first model of a hydrogen-powered plane. It uses the same clean energy ideas, which helps cut down pollution a lot.
Making planes that use hydrogen isn’t easy. It means having to design the plane in a new way. But many scientists are working hard on this. Airbus hopes to fly its first hydrogen plane by 2035. In the near future, we might see many clean, hydrogen-powered planes flying. Let’s look forward to a greener sky!
12.What is the serious problem behind air travel
A. Planes fly too fast and are unsafe.
B. Planes cause pollution when flying.
C. Planes use too much time to take off.
13.What happens when planes burn oil fuel
A. They make the Earth warmer with bad gases.
B. They cool the air and stop heat from staying.
C. They clean the sky and help plants grow well.
14.What can we infer about hydrogen-powered planes
A. They are easy to make and use old designs.
B. They will make more pollution than oil planes.
C. They will help us have a greener sky in future.
15.What is the main idea of this passage
A. Why air travel is popular around the world.
B. How plane pollution makes the Earth hotter.
C. How we can have cleaner, zero-pollution flights.

Covered by snow and ice, Antarctica (南极洲) is the coldest and most mysterious continent (神秘的大陆) on Earth. However, this wild place still attracts people who wish to go there.
The Antarctic is a good place to research the land, ocean, air, ice shelves and biology. The Antarctic also has rich sources of coal, fresh water and seafood.
More than 30 countries have built research stations in the Antarctic. During the past 40 years, China has built five stations: Changcheng, Zhongshan, Taishan, Kunlun and Qinling.
With an annual (年度的) average temperature of - 25 to - 30 C in the Antarctic, scientists there don’t have many choices for traveling. If the weather is good, scientists will go outside to collect samples (标本) of water, rocks and other things. But when it’s too cold or windy outside, which happens quite often, they have to stay indoors. There are all kinds of laboratories at their stations.
However, they do more than just research. The scientists there have found many ways to relax. At Zhongshan Station, for example, there is a field where they can play basketball, volleyball and badminton. Zhongshan Station is not far from stations built by Russia, India and Australia. Sometimes, people from the four stations will meet and hold big parties and sports events.
Although life in the Antarctic can be hard, people there get to learn more about the unknown world and enjoy the beauty of nature. That might be the best part of visiting the area.

参考范文:
Hello, everyone. I’d like to share with you the thing I value most.
It is a worn photo album sitting on my bookshelf. It may not look special, but it holds all the warmest moments of my childhood and family.
Inside, there are photos of me playing in the park with my grandparents, our big family dinners during festivals, and the silly faces my friends and I made at our middle school graduation. Every time I flip through it, I can almost hear the laughter and feel the love from those days. It reminds me that even when life gets busy, the people and memories we hold dear are always there. This photo album isn’t just a book of pictures—it’s a box of happiness that I will treasure forever.
