1. Analysis of Teaching Material The topic of this lesson is to talk about preferences and make plans. Students will talk about different TV shows. This is also an interesting topic for students. The listening practice can help the students to make progress. After learning this part, the students should know that what kind of TV shows are better for them to watch and how to express their preferences and make plans.
2. Teaching Contents:
Unit 5 Section A from 1a to 2c. But I’m going to leave 1b to next class and use 3a this time to consolidate the new knowledge.

Step 1 Leading in
Introduce myself first. Make friends with them.
Talk about music. What do you think of the music?
Play three kinds of music and lead in the sentences I don’t mind …and I can’t stand….
Step 2 Presentation
Show some pictures to learn the words about TV shows, and ask which they like better or best to review the comparative and superlative forms of adjectives and adverbs they have learned in the last two units.
Play a game! Stand up! I’ll show them some questions first. When I play a kind of sound, the students who can answer the question stand up. The first one to stand up can answer the question.

Step 3 Listening
Task 1： Do some listening practice
Listen to the tape and follow the instructions in activities 2a and 2b.
Play the recorder again if necessary and check the answers.
Read the sentences in activity 2b aloud.
Step 4 Discussion
Task 2： Let students talk about their plans for tonight in small groups.
What do you plan to watch on TV tonight? And why?
Then ask several students to role play their conversations.
Step 5 Making a poster
Task 3： Make a poster. Work in small groups. Give each group a piece of paper to make a poster for their favorite show. Show them a poster that I made, if necessary.
Step 6 Doing some exercises.
Do some exercises to consolidate the use of the expressions if time is enough.
Step 7 Homework
Finish the exercises and make your posters more creative.
