Talking with your doctor
Talking freely with your doctor can make you feel better … Here are some tips for talking with your doctor.
● Stay positive.
● Keep track of how you are feeling.
● 39

medicines, be sure to mention that to your doctor.
● Ask questions.
(2020 年全国聂卷) In Asia, messaging platforms are growing rapidly, with users in the hundreds of millions, both at work and play. 36 . It’s been reported that 76 percent of employees in some western countries are using emojis at work.
D. The popularity of these platforms is spreading globally
G. An easy way to bring all work generations together is with a chat platform
● Keep track of how you are feeling.
38 This will make it easier for you to answer questions about your symptoms (症状) and how medicines make you feel. It also makes it easier for you to bring up anything that you are
worried about. Make sure to be honest about how you feel and how long you’ve felt that way.
C. You can talk to another doctor if the treatments don’t work.
D. Before your doctor’s visit, keep notes on how you are feeling.
如: (2014 全国Ⅰ卷)Your children need to be deeply curious 37 Ask kids, “What ingredients (配料) can we add to make these pancakes even better next time ”
A. Encourage kids to cook with you.
C. We can give kids chances to think about materials in new ways.

achievements, your desires, etc. Only then should you set your goals.
B. So how should you motivate yourself
D. So why should we try to set specific goals
(2020 年全国Ⅰ卷)● 37 Do not follow the people who make you feel not-good-enough. Why do you follow them Are you hoping that eventually you will feel empowered because your life is better than theirs Know that your life is your own; you are the only you in this world.

for positive growth and forgiveness.
D. Remember that you can expect the best in return.
G. Seeing the positive side of things doesn’t mean you’re ignoring what happened.
You also need to judge the quality and depth of your motivation. This is quite
important, because it is directly related to your commitment. There are times when your heart is
not in your work. 39 So, slow down and think what you really want to do at that moment. Clarity (清晰) of thoughts can help you move forward.
A. This can affect your work.
E. They can change according to circumstances.

A. You will stick to your diet.
B. Your quality of sleep improves.
C. You prefer healthy food to fast food.

each day. 38 , it is wise to take a day off to rest. But during the next week, set a goal of at least a mile and a half per run.
A. After six days
B. For a good marathon runner
要注意表示总结的信号词, 如 therefore, as a result, hence, thus, to sum up, to conclude, in short, in a word 等词语,选项中也可发现前文的同义词句。 (i)

Need a break between classes or just a quick pick-me-up in the morning The College Cafe has just that, and more. 1
Catherine Murphy, a cafe worker in a green shirt and black hat, makes sure that each
customer gets exactly what they order. She goes back and forth between machines to make the

genuine conversations.
Murphy gets up at a quarter to five and drives thirty minutes every day to get to work on time. 3 “I do so because I like to make coffee for the students. I know they need it in the morning,” Murphy said. Being a mother and wife has helped her become the woman she is. She believes she is here to serve.
One thing Murphy may not know is that her smile is contagious (有感染力) and can be the difference in a student having a much better day than they were having before seeing her. Joanna Wright, a senior political science major, loves coffee and goes to the cafe at least six days a week. 4 “Catherine always has a huge smile on her face, which always puts me in a cheerful mood,” Wright said.

I experienced years of loneliness as a child. 6 His friends teased him about
babysitting his sister and his interests were far different from mine. With no other kids of my age in the neighborhood, I had to spend hours by myself.
A bright spot for me turned out to be reading. My love of the written word began early as my mother read to me every evening. 7 I started reading books on my own before age 5
and my mother took me to the public library once a week to borrow several books. I quickly
graduated from typical children’s books to ones with fewer pictures and longer chapters. Reading opened new worlds to me. 8
My mother also encouraged me to make what I wanted. I tried making toy cars with
cardboard boxes and constructing buildings from leftover cardboard and bits of wood my father
gave me. When my mother saw my creations, she told me how creative my designs were. 9 I learned a lot about how to extend the life of objects and transform them into something new and useful. It was a trait(特点) others found helpful, and I soon had friends who wanted to make
things with me.
10 My parents made it a point for their two kids to spend time outside, no matter the weather or season. My brother, of course, raced off to be with his friends, while I had plenty to do myself. There was making leaf houses in autumn, ice skating in winter, and so much more.
They’re all memories I treasure today.
A .I wasn't alone any longer.
B .I enjoyed reading stories aloud.

As we walked along the street recently, my friend suddenly sighed, “How I miss the
ice-cream my grandma used to buy me after school!” 11 , which cost her 9.8 yuan, almost 10 limes higher than the “grandma ice cream”.
But it was just one of the fair-priced treats. 12 It was written by a user who
claimed he “randomly picked a plain-looking ice-cream” in a store, and was shocked when the
register showed it was 68 yuan. He bought it anyway, but said that every bite tasted more bitter than sweet. “Never pick any brand of ice-cream you’re not familiar with,” the Weibo user wrote.
I miss the good old days too, but on second thoughts, I don’t believe that some expensive ice-cream means the market is “corrupted”. 13 . Consumption upgrades may boost
demand and expensive ice-cream exists because some consumers like it.
Zhao Xuekuan, a senior ice-cream dealer agrees with me. His shop has probably the widest variety of ice-creams m the market. 14 , but young customers favor fancier ones. They are quite particular about the ingredients, expecting they provide not only good tastes, but also high
protein and low calories.
15 . It’s a good thing that recently, the State Administration for Market Regulation issued a new rule that goods must be sold with a clearly marked price tag, or the retailer will be
fined up to 100, 000 yuan. Let the fair play carry on and consumers will make their own choices.
A .They don’t choose cheaper ones
B .The other day I read a post on Weibo
C .While walking, she was licking on one
D .The development of a market has its own rules

This summer, my family and I took a trip to a special place in China called Bama, in
Guangxi. For a long time, people have called it the “longevity (长寿) village.” 16 I
knew that in most places of China, the average (平均的) person lives to be about 78. So, I was very curious to see this amazing place for myself and to discover its secrets.
When we first arrived in Bama, I took a deep breath. 17 . The locals explained that because there aren’t too many people living there and there are lots of trees and plants
everywhere, the air is always fresh. Even though we were visiting in the middle of August, which is usually very hot, the weather in Bama was pleasantly cool.
18 . One lunch, we were served a simple, local soup. The villagers told us that this soup is good for making you feel hungry and that it might even help your brain work better. The
soup itself was very basic, made only from tofu, green lettuce (生菜), and water 19 I can’t say for sure if it made me any smarter, but I noticed that I ate more lunch than I normally would.
We also spent time just enjoying the peaceful life. We walked along quiet paths, listened to the sounds of nature, and saw the beautiful green mountains all around us. 20 .
After seeing everything in Bama with my own eyes, I have my own ideas about why people live so long there, I believe where you live and what you eat can really change your life.

B .The food in Bama was also a unique experience
C .The whole village had a quiet and relaxing feeling

When my school offered the opportunity to take part in a School Challenge, I didn’t hesitate to sign up for the initial meeting. 21 We decided to plan a three-week adventure in
Romania.
Of course, it was not a case of simply signing up and paying the money. 22 We
arranged a variety of events for the purpose. We had decided to go to a remote rural village and to work with a team of local people to improve the school buildings.
We had been warned that our trip would not be a holiday and that things would not always go to plan. We certainly experienced the difficulties during the trip. 23 This meant that
they were too weak to continue walking and we were not able to travel as far as we had intended. In fact, one of the team quit the journey.
24 I never got tired of watching the sun rise every morning over the pine forests. Feeding the bears in the sanctuary was also incredible. I would never have imagined that these powerful creatures could be so gentle and calm. My best memory, though, was working on the school building project. I will never forget the hospitality and kindness of the villagers. They cooked us amazing meals and did everything they could to make us feel comfortable and
welcome.
My School Challenge trip influenced my life in so many ways. It gave me a taste for
independence and adventure, and certainly made me want to travel more. ___25___ Not having television, internet and hot running water for three weeks was certainly a challenge, but in many ways enjoyed living a simpler life for a short time.
A .This had to be raised by us to fund the trip.
B .Despite the obstacles, it was a truly amazing trip.
C .Above all though, it has made me realise how easy my life is.

G .For example, a few people became ill because we were so high up in the mountains.

There’s that old saying: How you do one thing is how you do everything. 26 , it

shows in everything that you do, even when playing music.
I recently went to a concert with some other musicians in town (many of whom I was
meeting for the first time). ____27____, I spent more time in my head thinking about my
drumming instead of actually paying attention to what was going on. This time though, I found that I was more attentive and was able to support the other musicians more through my playing.
28 . And I could feel the audience was enjoying the music more too, because the
music was no longer about me, it was about all of us connecting through the universal language of music.
Afterwards, the musicians I played with told me they felt like our hearts were connected while playing, and that we were able to achieve a new level of playing together thanks to our
collected approach. When playing, we didn’t consider how to show ourselves off. 29 .
I believe that the best musicians in the world have this in common; which is to see past their own values, and to listen to/connect with their audience and fellow musicians. I’ve realized all of this thanks to my practice of being a more compassionate and caring person.
So, I would like to thank everyone on this website for opening your hearts and showing me how to be a more caring person. 30 , but also through my music, and to those who listen.
A .When I used to connect with other musicians
B .Therefore, as you become more kind and sympathetic
C .Because of this, our music was better than ever before
D .There was just us sharing ourselves with our open hearts
E .I often find music moves me to be open and connect with others
F .There are languages that are universal, music and kindness are two of those languages
G.As I grow into a more kind and caring person, I can bring joy to not only those in my daily life

It was a week after my mom had passed away and I didn’t know how to go on with life. So when I received an email from a friend about a race benefiting cancer research, I ignored it. It
seemed to prick my heart, as cancer was the disease that had taken my mother away from me.
But something about my friend’s words — “I can help organize the whole thing” — stuck with me, I felt obliged (有义务的) to agree. In the weeks to come, I managed to re-enter the world

of the living. 31 I knew my mom would have wanted it that way: She was the type who never got defeated. It was this very spirit that helped me get by.
When the race ended, I noticed the runners all had one thing in common: ____32____ They made it look so rewarding and effortless. I wanted in.
So I enrolled (报名参加) in another race two months later. Considering I could barely run a mile, it was ambitious. 33 I followed it religiously and didn’t let anything get in my
way.
Running up and down the city’s hills, I was flooded with memories. I had lived there after
college and my mother had visited often. I passed Bloomingdale’s, recalling the time she and I had gotten into a screaming argument there.
I was about to beat myself up when I remembered what Mom had said after her diagnosis of cancer. “I don’t want you to feel guilty about anything.” Her paper-thin hands had held me
tightly. 34
When the race day arrived, I gave it my all for my mom and for all she had taught me and continued to teach me. 35 Crossing the finish line, I was filled with her love and a sense of peace.
A .They tried their best.
B .But I couldn’t help weeping.
C .A weight lifted from my shoulders.

G .I checked our team’s website daily, feeling proud each time a donation ticked up our total.

Humans have been known to develop strong connections with dangerous animals. Werner Freund has spent several decades in the company of wolves. While why the former soldier became attached to these beautiful wild animals is a little unclear, he has been caring for them since 1972. The army experience leaves him a strong body and energetic state. 36 .
37 They touch him with noses, and play with him. What’s more, they are generally
very submissive(卑躬屈膝的) when he is around, just like they would be around a head wolf!
This, however, does not happen by chance. 38 Whenever it’s feeding time, he
calls his pack to come for the raw meat by howling. As the hungry animals rush to get their food, they always meet with this scene. Werner sinks his teeth into the raw meat first.
What may sound a little cruel is how the position of hierarchy(等级制度) is built in the
animal world. 39 When he signals, the rest ofthe pack can join in. Wemer’s wolves know this rule quite well and never challenge his authority.
Wolves, the largest member of the dog family, are mistakenly believed to be dangerous. 40
They are beautiful gentle souls, whose reputation has been spoiled by fairy tales like Little Red Riding Hood!
A .But in reality they rarely attack humans
B .They are considered as the smartest beasts.
C .Werner works on it with a simple act every day
D .Werner seems to know where wolves come from.
E .It is always the strongest male that gets the first meal
F .The wolves treat Werner as if he were one of their own.
G .Therefore,Werner can survive the wolves and get along with these cold-blooded creatures.
