W: Well, I usually write alone in my room and only ask friends what they think when the song’s finally released.
M: How did you feel about winning an award at that big ceremony
W: I didn’t expect to win because I was up against some big names. I think I won maybe because I wrote my own
songs and I was being given some recognition for that.

needs and provide personalized support. For example, if a child is struggling with a math problem, Q can explain it
in a fun way.
W: That’s really cool. Does it help with other things too, like social skills
M: Definitely. Q can assist social interactions by suggesting icebreakers or role playing situations. It helps kids
practice their communication skills in a safe environment.
W: That sounds like it could be very helpful. Were the robots developed by students
M: Yes, they were. Our school has a robotics club where professional engineers instruct our students to design,
build and program robots. Smart Buddy Q is one of their creations.

Earth Day, which is celebrated on April 22 every year, is a significant event that promotes global awareness of
environmental protection and inspires people to take action for a sustainable future. Earth Day was first organized
in 1970 and became an international event on March 21, 1971. A rock band even wrote a song about Earth Day in
1993 encouraging families to recycle on a regular basis. Every Earth Day has a theme which we are honored to set.
In 2023 it was Invest in Our Planet and encouraging businesses, politicians and the public to come together to
support climate friendly choices. In 2024 we persuaded millions of people to stand up to plastics’ harmful impact
on human health with Planet Versus Plastics. For 2025 our 55th anniversary year, we are focused on supporting the
increase of renewable energy with our theme—Our Power, Our planet. Earth Day can be celebrated in numerous
ways, such as organizing a community cleanup. Hosting environmental workshops, launching recycling initiatives
and conducting nature walks. Schools often engage students in art competitions with an environmental theme, and
businesses may introduce eco-friendly practices.

Dear Principal Smith,
I am Li Hua, a senior student from our school. I am writing to address some concerns regarding our school
library. Recently, many students have noticed that the book collection is outdated. Additionally, the online search
system often fails to work correctly, making it difficult to locate books efficiently.
To improve the situation, I kindly suggest two measures. First, the library could set aside more funds to
purchase popular and academic books regularly. Organizing book donation drives among students might also help.
Second, upgrading the online system or providing professional IT support would ensure smoother searches.
Thank you for considering these suggestions. I believe these changes will greatly benefit our learning
environment.
Yours,
Li Hua

My dad rushed forward. And I followed suit. “Stay calm, everyone. We need to act quickly,” after he figured
out what was going on, he gestured for everyone to remain calm and call emergency services. He started
performing first aid, which immediately put those around him at ease. Soon, an ambulance arrived. Thanks to my
dad’s timely intervention, the patient regained consciousness, gaining crucial time for further treatment. Then the
patient was rushed to the hospital.
Witnessing the scene there, I suddenly realized the value of my dad’s work. On the way back home, I thanked
Dad, not only for accompanying me to the shopping mall, but also for saving the customer and helping me
understand the worth of adult professions. A few days after the play, Mrs. Thompson asked me if I had changed my
mind. I replied proudly with a definite “yes”, The journey through the mall had totally reshaped my perspective on
the significance of every kind of work and taught me that I should never judge the value of people’s work at will.2026 届高考模拟卷·英语

The following 4 famous paintings from Jan van Eyck’s portrait to Pablo Picasso’s masterpiece—have stood
the test of time.
The Amolfini Portrait
Jan van Eyck’s Amolfini Portrait, an oil painting on wood produced in 1434, in which a man and a woman
hold hands with a window behind him and a bed behind her, is undoubtedly one of the masterpieces in the Nation
document on fifteenth-century society, through Van Eyck’s heavy use of symbolism. While husbands went out to
engage in business, wives concerned themselves with domestic duties. This painting is as visually interesting as it
is famed. It is also informative.
The Starry Night
Vincent van Gogh painted The Starry Night, oil on canvas, a moderately abstract landscape painting of an
expressive night sky over a small hillside village, during his 12 months stay at the mental hospital near
Saint-Remy-de-Provence, France between 1889 and 1890. When the Museum of Modern Art in New York City
purchased the painting from a private collector in 1941, it was not well known, but it has since become one of van
Gogh’s most famous works.
The Harvesters
The Harvesters is an oil painting on wood completed by Pieter Bruegel the Elder in 1565. It describes the
harvest time which most commonly occurred within the months of August and September. Nicolaes Jonghelinck, a
merchant banker and art collector from Antwerp, commissioned this painting. The painting has been at the
Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City since 1919.
Guernica
Guernica, a large black-and-white oil painting, was painted by the Cubist Spanish painter, Pablo Picasso in
1937. The title “Guernica” refers to the city that was bombed by Nazi planes during the Spanish Civil War. The
painting depicts the horrors of war and as a result has come to be an anti-war symbol and a reminder of the
tragedies of war. Today, the painting is housed at the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia in Madrid.
21. Which of the following paintings was produced earliest
A. The Harvesters. B. The Starry Night.
C. Guernica. D. The Amolfini Portrait.
22. Who created the painting describing the harvest seasons
A. Jan van Eyck. B. Vincent van Gogh.
C. Pieter Bruegel the Elder. D. Pablo Picasso.
23. What do we know about the painting The Starry Night
A. It was painted on wood in oils.
B. It wasn’t widely recognized before 1941.
C. It was given away to the museum by a collector.
D. It described the painter’s life in hospital.

In the remote mountains of Guizhou, China,72-year-old Li Wei has spent five decades preserving a
disappearing art form: the ancient folk songs of the Miao ethnic group. As a child, Li would follow her
grandmother to village gatherings, mesmerized by complex melodies passed down through oral tradition. “Those
songs were our history books,” she recalls. “But by the 1990s, only a handful of elders could sing them.”
Determined to rescue this cultural heritage, Li began documenting every song she could find. With limited
resources, she walked for hours to reach isolated villages, recording lyrics in worn notebooks and capturing tunes
on a cassette player. Her persistence faced skepticism. “People asked why I wasted time on ‘old things’ when the
young were leaving for cities,” she told The New York Times.
A turning point came in 2010 when Li’s collection was discovered by ethnomusicologists from Beijing
Conservatory. This led to digital archiving projects and youth workshops. Today, her efforts have revived over 300
nearly extinct songs. Li’s most significant contribution is the “Echoes of the Clouds” program, which trains local
children during summer vacations. “I teach them that these songs carry our ancestors’ wisdom about nature and
life,” she explains.
Despite international recognition, Li refuses to leave her village. “My place is here, where the songs were
born,” she states. Her resilience has inspired a new generation; three of her students now study ethnomusicology at
universities. “Grandma Li showed us that cultural roots give wings to the future,” said 19-year-old participant Yang
Min.
24. What motivated Li Wei to preserve Miao folk songs
A. Government funding for ethnic research.
B. Requests from university scholars.
C. Desire for personal fame.
D. Her childhood exposure to their cultural significance.
25. How did Li Wei’s work gain wider recognition
A. By publishing academic papers. B. Via social media campaigns.
C. Through ethnomusicologists’ discovery. D. Through local children’s performances.
26. What does the “Echoes of the Clouds” program emphasize
A. Training professional musicians. B. Passing on cultural wisdom.
C. Attracting tourism revenue. D. Modernizing traditional melodies.
27. What does the underlined word “resilience” in paragraph 4 most likely mean
A. Financial success. B. Community influence.
C. Persistent determination. D. Artistic talent.

Mars is a challenging place for humans to live due to its extreme cold and lack of basic necessities like oxygen.
Given our goal to send humans there, and considering the high cost of transporting supplies from Earth, it is a
problem that needs solving.
NASA has already demonstrated the possibility of producing oxygen on Mars with the MOXIE experiment
brought over by the Perseverance rover. Recently, a Chinese research team developed an AI chemist,
demonstrating the potential to produce oxygen on Mars using only materials found on the Red Planet.
Since the AI operated on Earth, it did not directly use Martian soil but instead analyzed Martian meteorites (陨
石). It examined the composition of five Martian meteorite types and identified substances that could generate
oxygen evolution reaction (OER) catalysts (催化剂). These catalysts are envisioned to split water into oxygen
using solar energy. The AI then processed these meteorite materials for testing.
The AI chemist found 3,764,376 potential formulas (配方) for the catalyst and worked out the best one in just
two months. For a single human, this would have taken thousands of years of labor to accomplish. The resulting
catalyst was excellent. Researchers report that it could operate steadily for over 550,000 seconds—almost 6 days
and 9 hours—with a stable electric current density. The team also tested it at below-freezing temperatures,
consistent with temperatures found on Mars, with no apparent decline.
“In the future, humans can establish an oxygen factory on Mars with the assistance of AI chemistry,”
Professor Jiang Jun, one of the three team leaders, said in a statement. “This breakthrough technology brings us one
step closer to achieving our dream of living on Mars.”
The team is now looking to apply the AI chemist to other challenges in chemical discovery. It’s clear that AI
holds the potential to revolutionize the way we address complex problems and pave the way toward a more
sustainable future.
28. What problem regarding oxygen production on Mars did the Chinese team aim to address
A. The transportation of equipment. B. The development of power plants.
C. Ways to source raw materials.
D. Ways to control experimental conditions.
29. What part of the research did the AI chemist focus on
A. Extracting water from Martian soil. B. Analyzing existing catalysts on Mars.
C. Conducting OERs in the Martian environment.
D. Identifying certain chemicals in Martian rocks.
30. What strength of the AI chemist does the author want to stress in paragraph 4
A. Its accuracy. B. Its efficiency. C. Its adaptability. D. Its stability.
31. What does the author think of the future of AI applications
A. Promising. B. Debatable. C. Limited. D. Overestimated.

Noise pollution poses a significant threat to various animal species, seriously impacting their natural behaviors
and ecological roles. Among its harmful effects, the most serious is that it confuses acoustic signals critical to
animal communication and survival. Animals rely on these signals for crucial activities such as finding mates,
warning others of danger, and coordinating group behaviors. However, noise pollution often overlaps with these
frequencies, obscuring (使模糊) vital messages.
Furthermore, noise pollution alters animal behaviors essential for their reproductive success. For instance,
courtship rituals (求偶仪式) in birds can be affected, leading to decreased mating success and, consequently, fewer
offspring. In some cases, the stress caused by constant noise exposure can result in reduced egg production among
birds and marine species. This impact extends beyond reproduction, influencing the overall health and population
dynamics of affected species.
The impact is wide-ranging, affecting mammals and marine life. Even species known for their adaptability,
such as certain marine mammals and birds, are not immune to the effects of noise pollution. In water, noise from
shipping, underwater construction, and recreational activities can interfere with marine mammals’ navigation and
communication, essential for their survival.
The World Health Organization (WHO) recognizes noise pollution as one of the most harmful forms of
environmental pollution worldwide. Its widespread presence in the whole ecosystems highlights its potential to
unsettle the entire food web and ecological balance. As human activities continue to occupy natural habitats, the
long-term effects of noise pollution intensify, posing an increasingly urgent threat to biodiversity.
Efforts to reduce noise pollution are crucial for preserving ecosystems and protecting vulnerable animal
populations. Implementing sound management practices, regulating noise levels in sensitive habitats, and raising
awareness about the ecological impacts of noise pollution are essential steps toward fostering healthier
environments for all species. By addressing noise pollution comprehensively, we can protect the complex web of
life.
32. What’s the main effect of noise pollution on animal communication
A. It destroys animals’ natural habitats.
B. It influences animals’ ability to find food.
C. It affects animals’ adapting to the new environments.
D. It disturbs important sounds animals need for survival.
33. How does noise pollution affect bird reproduction
A. It reduces birds’ need for courtship rituals. B. It shortens the life cycle of birds’ offspring.
C. It lowers mating success by troubling courtship rituals.
D. It changes the choice of egg- laying places among bird species.
34. What does the author want to express by mentioning WHO
A. Noise pollution mostly happens in urban areas.
B. Noise pollution has negative effects mainly on humans.
C. Noise pollution brings about food safety issues.
D. Noise pollution is a global issue impacting wildlife.
35. What is the text mainly about
A. Threats brought by noise pollution to wildlife.
B. Animal messages covered by noise pollution.
C. Measures to reduce noise pollution in the wild.
D. Impacts of noise pollution on ecological balance.

The brain is a wonderful organ. It is the source of all thoughts and actions. But sometimes your brain can get
ahead of you and you could start overthinking. 36 Luckily, there are some things you can do to slow your
brain down. Here are four ways that you can train yourself.
Pay attention to your emotions.
A lot of times overthinking is from an emotional response to something. One of the best things you can do is
to take a step back and ask yourself what you are feeling. Are you angry Anxious Scared 37
Do something for somebody.
Another thing you can do to help reduce your negative thoughts is to do something to help someone else.
38 It doesn’t matter whether you are cooking some food for a sick friend, or paving for a stranger’s coffee at
your local café, and just the act of making someone else’s day better will make your day better.
39
It is easy to become judge mental when filled with negative and overwhelming thoughts. However, one of the
keys to stopping those negative thoughts is to cease to judge. Try to observe yourself and the world around you
from a non-judgmental position.
Acknowledge your success.
One of the more troublesome aspects of overthinking is the tendency anxious thoughts have to overshadow
any positive thoughts. 40 Making your bed in the morning is enough to count as a success. Soon enough,
they will start to add up and you will find that making these lists of your daily accomplishments can help you stay
positive.
So the next time you find yourself overcome with racing thoughts and anxiety, slow down, take a step back
and follow these four tips.
A. Quit judging.
B. Release emotions.
C. Happiness is often stored in being of service to others.
D. But you don’t have to experience a transition in order to breathe new life.
E. Naming your emotions is one of the most effective measures you can take.
F. That is why you should start tracing your successes when caught in negativity.
G. Once you start overthinking, it is often hard to stop, and it can be seriously distressing.

第二节(满分 25 分)
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
One day, during a lively school class, Mrs. Thompson asked everyone about their dream jobs. The classroom
suddenly got filled with eager voices as classmates enthusiastically shared their dreams. “I want to be a college
professor,” said Sarah confidently. “I dream of becoming a basketball player,” exclaimed Mike with light in his eye.
The air was filled with dreams of doctors, nurses, bank accountants, and various professions.
When Mrs. Thompson turned her attention to me, inquiring about my future career, I hesitated. “I don’t know
yet,” I admitted. Then she asked if I wished to follow in my dad’s footsteps. “No,” I responded firmly.
My dad is a distinguished doctor with a demanding schedule, who often finds himself engaged in the
responsibilities of his job. Thus, he often returns home late in the evening. The limited time we spent together
during my upbringing created a noticeable distance in our relationship. I had such a lot to complain about his job
and thus being a doctor would be the last option I would take.
After hearing my answer, Mrs. Thompson didn’t make any comment. Instead, she advised me to think more
about that.
A turning point came when our school decided to stage a New Year’s play. It was the grandest event of the
year, and we had been preparing for it for a long time. Preparing for our roles, I needed to buy costume.
Unfortunately, my mom had to travel to another city for work, so it fell upon my dad to accompany me. Reluctantly
(不情愿地), I agreed, realizing there was no other option.
In the mall, it became evident that my dad was clueless about the items on the shopping list. Despite Mom
