参考范文:
Snow Sweeping,a Lesson Beyond the Classroom
After a heavy snow, our campus turned into a white wonderland. We couldn't help going out to play
in the snow. Some piled snow into a cute snowman with a red scarf while others cleaned paths with
brooms. The snow-covered paths were clean in an instant, after which we gathered together, smiling with
thumbs-up.
Sweating but happy,I realized teamwork turns hard work into joy-everyone's effort made the
campus safe again. It also taught me that labor isn't just tiring but builds responsibility and connects
hearts.
It's a lesson that goes far beyond textbooks, showing me the true value of contributing to others.

2026’s most sought-after travel experiences engage all five senses, with four standout trends offering unique
joys and memorable adventures.
Mini Stargazing Safari in Northumberland
For stargazers, Northumberland is an ideal destination for a visual feast. Kielder Observatory hosts over 700
annual events for all ages, making astronomy accessible and enjoyable. Battlesteads Hotel provides workshops,
informative talks, and interactive demonstrations. With a 572-square-mile Dark Sky Park, finding a stargazing spot
is effortless — event tickets start at 25, and the hotel’s two-night stays cost 290 per night.
Warm Mud Bath in Italy’s Aeolian Islands
The volcano in Italy’s Aeolian Islands offers healing mud baths. Though sulphuric (含硫磺的) smells take
some getting used to, the bubbling mud soothes muscles, boosts circulation and benefits skin conditions. With its
volcanic backdrop and breathtaking sunsets, hiking trails and dark-sand beaches serve as an ideal base for
exploration. Entry to mud baths is 20 per person, including shower access.
Diving with Octopuses in Seattle, USA
Inspired by the release of My Octopus Teacher, people have developed a surging interest in one of the ocean’s
most mysterious creatures. Octopuses — known for their shape-shifting abilities, problem-solving skills — have
become the new stars of underwater exploration. With the guidance of a professional instructor, divers get a rare
chance to observe these eight-armed wonders up close. Seattle Dive Tours’ evening-night packages are 200 per
person (September to May), plus taxes.
Listening to Whale Song in the Azores
In the Azores, travelers have the rare opportunity not only to spot whales but also to listen to their songs.
Whale song is not just soothing background noise; it is the sound of one of nature’s most mysterious giants
communicating across the deep ocean. By listening to their songs, travelers can assist in identifying individual
whales and recording migration data. The Ocean holiday ( 895 per person) includes three whale-watching trips.

Curt Carter, Indiana University’s head football coach, has led a remarkable turnaround this season, taking the
historically struggling team Hoosiers to the edge of a national championship, which has captured the attention of
the entire United States.
The 64-year-old coach’s latest achievement has established his status as one of college football’s most
remarkable turnaround artists, and it is a follow-up to a lesser-known miracle he engineered over a decade ago at
Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) — a far smaller school. Carter’s head coaching journey began at IUP in
2011, where he took over a Division II team that had slipped into an average level. It would be his job to restore the
team to its best.
With previous skills gained as an assistant at the University of Alabama, he quickly built a professional culture
and a winning system. He set high standards for the team, such as requiring his players to adjust their shirts before
running through their first practice drills and asking the team to gather after practice to reflect on their wins and
mistakes. Within two years, the team was dominating opponents and claiming a conference championship.
What set that early success apart, however, was the challenge of limited resources at IUP. Unlike at Alabama
— where his primary role was recruiting top high school talents with abundant institutional support — Carter was
forced to make a tight budget work, carefully evaluating player value and distributing scholarships strategically.
“That experience was a pivotal dry run,” Carter told reporters yesterday. “Every decision I made there prepared
me to handle the complex team building and player development challenges in college football.”
“What makes Carter special is that he doesn’t just win — he learns, evolves, and applies those lessons
anywhere,” a college football insider told the reporter. “We’re eager to see what more he can achieve with the
Hoosiers and where his coaching journey will take him next.”
24. What can we learn about the Hoosiers before Carter took charge
A. It had a number of star players. B. It had abundant financial support.
C. It had just won a championship. D. It had long been an ordinary state.
25. What was the key to Carter’s success at IUP
A. His school’s support. B. His strict requirements.
C. His team’s capability. D. His sufficient resources.
26. What does the underlined phrase “a pivotal dry run” in Paragraph 4 probably mean
A. A failed attempt. B. A vital practice. C. A formal contest. D. A tough challenge.
27. What is the main purpose of the article
A. To report Carter’s success and the reasons. B. To compare different college football teams.
C. To show Carter’s background and character. D. To compare Carter’s work at two universities.

Social media has become an inescapable part of modern life, raising concerns across generations. However, as
debates over banning access for under-6-year-olds intensify, people are divided: While many anxious parents
support restrictions, young people do not.
The problem is that social media is designed to be addictive. It takes advantage of our neurological tendencies
(神经倾向). When we check our updates, our brains grow dependent on dopamine, a chemical that stimulates
feelings of pleasure, which is released. The unreliable nature of updates makes us addicted, constantly anticipating
the next reward.
Like alcohol or tobacco, social media has distinct negative effects on developing brains, potentially shrinking
the grey matter in our brains. With this in mind, and where teens in the US are spending an average of 4.8 hours on
social media each day, restrictions seem logical.
But, when it comes to addiction, we know that autonomy is important; it should become a choice to get rid of
the addictive behavior, rather than forced inaction. Further, if social media is an unavoidable part of the modern
world, is it not more important that we give young people the tools they need to tackle its challenges than
desperately trying to protect them
Psychological research suggests that complete bans or restrictions often backfire. We can understand why
parents worry about their children’s social media use. However, we ought to listen to young people’s voices. Here,
we can look at a recent survey, which found that the vast majority (71 percent) of young Britons oppose a social
media ban for under-16-year-olds. Instead, they want to be given more education on how to navigate social media
safely, with 84 percent wanting digital literacy training to be added to school curricula. Additionally, 78 percent of
young Britons believe it is social media companies that should be doing more to remove harmful content from their
platforms.
We can all agree that something needs to change, but an all-out ban may not be the answer. Young people are
aware of the problem, and they are asking for support; we should give them the grace of listening, and if we do, we
are more likely to see the outcome we all desire.
28. What makes social media addictive according to the text
A. It provides a quick way to socialize.
B. It offers reliable and rewarding updates.
C. It acts on the brain’s chemical reactions.
D. It delivers timely and interesting content.
29. What is the author’s attitude towards forced restrictions on social media
A. Supportive. B. Sympathetic. C. Uncaring. D. Critical
30. According to the recent survey, most young Britons ________.
A. call for digital literacy education at school B. reject digital technique training at school
C. ignore the challenges of digital platforms D. support the social media ban for under-16s
31. What can be a suitable title for the text
A. Social Media: Harm or Benefit B. Social Media: A Threat to Young Brains
C. Social Media: To Ban or Not to Ban D. Social Media: Companies’ Responsibility
D
Thirty years ago, travel was a far simpler affair — no online booking, no in-car GPS, and brick-like mobile
phones that barely served as communication tools. Today, technological innovations have revolutionized how we
explore the world, bringing unparalleled convenience while also posing new challenges.
AI stands out as a key driver of transformation. Market research shows 48% of European travelers use
AI-powered tools for trip planning, while airlines and hotels use it for customer service and pricing. Beyond
planning, UK airports use 3D scanners to speed up security checks by eliminating the need to remove liquids and
laptops. Singapore Changi Airport even uses facial recognition, letting passengers pass through security in 10
seconds. Virtual reality (VR) also changes the game, with 70% of travelers willing to use it to “test” destinations
— luxury travel advisers even use VR to show clients hotel views and designs, reducing booking uncertainty.
Smartphones have become integral travel companions, replacing maps, cameras, and wallets. They enable QR
code payments, instant text translation, and digital tickets. Augmented reality (AR) takes this further by overlaying
digital information on real scenes: museums use it to enhance exhibits, Disney theme parks create immersive
projections, and cities like Stirling offer AR maps to bring history to life. The AR travel market is projected to
grow from $ 29bn in 2025 to $ 108bn by 2034, thanks to easy access via QR codes and AI-generated content.
However, technology’s impact is not purely positive. Social media fuels overtourism, and focusing on
capturing moments online reduces authentic interactions with locals. Additionally, automated services and chatbots
reduce human contact, and too many travel apps cause fatigue (疲劳) — leading to a 2.3% drop in app downloads
in 2024.
Yet, the future of travel tech looks promising. Experts predict smarter personalization and seamless (无缝的)
virtual assistants within five years. Wearables like Meta’s smart glasses offer on-the-go translation and information,
while inclusive innovations shine: Seattle’s wayfinding apps assist those with disabilities. Trends like super apps
(booking, and payments), and self-driving taxis will further reshape travel. As technology evolves, travel will
become more seamless, accessible, and enriching.
32. How does the author introduce the topic
A. By describing a situation. B. By giving an example.
C. By presenting a problem. D. By making a contrast.
33. What do hotels do with AI technology
A. To accelerate security procedures. B. To create virtual tour experiences.
C. To help to determine room prices. D. To design wayfinding applications.
34. What is a negative effect of technology in travel
A. Reduced real interactions with locals. B. Increased cost of travel services.
C. Decreased help for disabled travelers. D. Dropped options for trip planning.
35. What is the main idea of the passage
A. AI tech ensures convenience. B. Travel causes less interaction.
C. Tech influences travel greatly. D. Modern travel needs creativity.

How to Make Your Neighborhood a Better Place
Creating a better neighborhood will bring advantages, including boosted housing values and a more enjoyable
residential experience. However, bettering your neighborhood is a relatively complicated task. 36
Fortunately, with some work and some thought, you’ll be on the road to making your neighborhood a better place.
37
A great way to build a good neighborhood is to start with your home. Basic maintenance is a great way of
creating the impression that your neighborhood is a good place to live. If you skip your home maintenance, you’ll
send the impression that you don’t care about your neighborhood or your neighbors.
Make friends with your neighbors.
Building genuine connections with those around you is foundational to fostering a nicer neighborhood. People
who know and care for the people in their neighborhood will be more likely to take extra steps to better their
community. 38
Host an annual block party or barbecue.
Organizing a yearly neighborhood gathering is a fantastic way to strengthen community bonds. Beyond being
a fun event, it’ll get everyone out and interacting. 39 Invite everyone in your neighborhood. Also, you can
ask your neighbors and others in the neighborhood to help you plan it.
Do random acts of kindness for your neighbors.
Small, unexpected acts of generosity can transform the atmosphere of your neighborhood. If one of your
neighbors is sick, bring them soup. If someone’s family member has passed away, visit them and comfort them. If
you know someone is hurting financially, offer to cover their household bill one month. 40 By doing so,
your neighbors will come to believe that you care for them and the community.
A. Maintain your home.
B. Make necessary repairs to your home.
C. Whatever it is, no matter how small it is, just do it.
D. It calls for not only personal effort but also neighborly cooperation.
E. A warm hello or a small welcome gift for new arrivals goes a long way.
F. If your neighbor watches over your children, show your sincere gratitude.
G. This will help build a better neighborhood and a stronger sense of community.

I’m Davey, a senior high school student, and soccer used to be my whole world. As the fastest striker on my
team, I was good at dribbling (运球) past defenders. My little brother, Tom, was my biggest fan — he’d cheer
loudly every time I played, waving a well-designed sign with my name in bright markers. We’d dreamed for
months of winning the city teenagers’ soccer tournament, a big event all our friends talked about, so we practiced
hard. But everything has changed since my birthday.
I had begged my parents for a popular video game. After some consideration, they agreed to get it for me, as
they felt sure I could manage my time well. At first, I just spent a little time on it and stuck to our team schedule
without absence. However, the game’s attractive visuals began to draw me in more. I’d spend more time, curled (蜷
缩) up on the sofa. Later, I started putting off soccer practice for one more game, brushing off Tom’s calls and
overlooking my teammates’ text reminders. Bit by bit, my prized soccer shoes gifted by my parents after my first
championship began to gather dust in the corner, as I was glued to the screen. When Tom begged seriously, “Your
teammates need you.” I mumbled (咕哝), “Later…”, never taking my eyes off the game.
The tournament arrived and I struggled onto the field, out of breath, slow on my feet, and completely unable to
cooperate with the team. I missed easy passes, tripped over my own feet and failed to score a single goal. We lost
thoroughly and our dream fell apart. My teammates’ disappointed faces cut me deeper than any loss before.
That evening, I sat alone in my room, the game controller feeling heavy and meaningless in my hand. My eyes
accidentally fell on the prized soccer shoes. My throat tightened as I touched them with my fingers, a wave of
regret washing over me as I realized just how much I’d thrown away for an empty video game.
