People who like travelling have their reasons. They believe that travelling can help them expand their field of view, especially in the geographical and historical sense. They also think that travelling will give them more chances to enjoy different kinds of food and experience new things that would never be brought by other activities. But those who dislike travelling also have some reasons.
Travelling, in my opinion, does more good than harm. Most importantly, it broadens (使扩大) our minds. We can get in touch with other civilisations, cultures, customs and ideas.
Through history, most people travelled out of necessity (必要性)—not for pleasure. People travelled just in order to remain alive. They searched for food to eat or places to live in. They sometimes ran away from enemies. This is not to say that no one ever travelled just for the fun of it. In ancient times, for example, rich Romans travelled all the way to Greece to take part in the Olympic Games and festivals. Of course, some people decided to travel just out of curiosity. They wanted to find out what it looked like beyond the horizon (地平线). Also, business travel has been going on for centuries. Traders could not only make money but also learn to speak several languages and be introduced to different cultures.
So, travelling does enrich our minds and draw new ideas to us. There is no doubt that we can get much from it.

When I was trying to find a place to spend my December holidays, I came across some cheap flights to Iceland. After checking just a few winter pictures of Iceland, I realised that the country, known as the land of fire and ice, during the cold months of the year could offer me experiences I had never had before.
For sure you can’t miss the chance to go to Iceland in winter if your travelling wish list includes at least one of the crazy experiences Iceland can offer. Iceland in the North Atlantic Ocean is a paradise (乐园) for all those who want to see the northern lights, experience cold weather conditions and put themselves in geothermal (地热的) baths while the snow is falling on their heads.
The best way to move around Iceland is with a rental car. Distances are vast and public transport in winter is not really common out of the major towns. As we wanted to be even more convenient, we decided to rent a small camper (野营车). Sleeping and cooking in a camper saved us a lot of driving time and money, and it gave us the chance to be always in the right place at the right time.
There were also no locals and in many cases no tourist facilities (设备). For us, as we slept in a camper, it was easier. But for tourists travelling by normal cars, it is necessary to check the opening times of hotels and restaurants as many of them run just from June to September.
It is amazing to experience how the weather is changing in Iceland. However, Icelanders prefer to stay inside their houses. They have even no time to complain about the weather in December. All they care about is Christmas. They love to decorate their houses, sing Christmas songs and eat typical Christmas food.
( )4. Why is Iceland famous as the land of fire and ice
A. Because tourists would like to play with fire on the ice.
B. Because it is too dry to easily cause fire to happen.
C. Because there exist hot springs and freezing ice.
D. Because it is hot inside a house and cold outside.
( )5. What did the author think of the rental camper
A. It was convenient but cost them more money.
B. It was not only practical but also economical.
C. It provided the best chance to see the new country.
D. It was much faster than other public transport.
( )6. What does the last paragraph imply
A. The joy of Christmas drives the freezing weather away.
B. The Icelanders prefer to live with their family.
C. December is the coldest month of the year.
D. The Icelanders are always positive and stay outside.

How to Deal with Travel Anxiety Abroad
Travelling abroad offers many benefits. But for those suffering from anxiety, travelling in a new country they know little about can be challenging. 1
Take a notebook. A notebook is the perfect choice to keep your trip organised! It can be used to detail the itinerary (行程) and map important locations. 2 For example, whenever you feel bored, you can find a quiet place to sit and draw as you like.
3 The biggest travelling fears can be getting lost, losing smart phones or having passports stolen. So to deal with such nerves, think of possible ways in advance for all the situations before travelling.
Socialise with strangers. 4 But when you’re travelling, you have to talk with others. You’ll find plenty of people willing to recommend new places or share their experiences.
Be proud of how far you’ve come. Things are not always going as you like. There is nothing better than some positive words to make yourself calm and confident that things will get better and you’re doing the right thing. 5 Don’t ruin all the progress you’ve been making.
All in all, anxiety can strike anytime. Positive thoughts and preparedness can help you go on and get lost in a new culture—you’ll be glad about what you did!
A. It is also important to record details.
B. Try to keep your emotions in control.
C. It can bring some other benefits as well.
D. You may be a person with social anxiety.
E. Create plans for some issues ahead of time.
F. Fortunately, there are ways of managing this fear.
G. These tips will change your opinion about travelling.

Camping is a good way to spend time along with your kids and to show them how wonderful nature can be. Through camping, children can discover new things about nature, such as flowers, birds, and other small animals. Camping gives kids time to get away from all the electronics (电子技术) of today’s culture. So it is necessary to plan exciting and enjoyable family camping trips with your children while they are young.
When planning your family camping trip, consider the activities your kids like: games, hiking, swimming, boating, bicycling, etc. Select a camping place that has some of the activities the kids are interested in. Meal planning is an important part of your camping trip. Plan the meals together, and kids love to choose what they want to eat.
When starting to pack for your trip, let the kids pack their own items (物品). Each person should have his/her own sleeping bag with a luggage (行李) bag to put it in. Personal items should be packed with their sleeping bags. Encourage the kids to put their items in a certain place and always return them when they have finished using it.
When you have arrived at your campsite, make all the camping activities a family activity, which will help children to realise how important team-work is. Everyone can have his/her own job setting up the campsite. Mealtime can be a fun time. So let the older ones help with the cooking on your outdoor camping stove while the younger ones get the picnic table ready.

( C )4. Why is Iceland famous as the land of fire and ice
A. Because tourists would like to play with fire on the ice.
B. Because it is too dry to easily cause fire to happen.
C. Because there exist hot springs and freezing ice.
D. Because it is hot inside a house and cold outside.
( B )5. What did the author think of the rental camper
A. It was convenient but cost them more money.
B. It was not only practical but also economical.
C. It provided the best chance to see the new country.
D. It was much faster than other public transport.

Do your homework: No matter where you go, research the places you will visit. Decide what to see. Travel books will provide information on the cheapest hotels and restaurants.
Plan sensibly:Write down how much you expect to spend for food and hotels. Stick to your plan or you may not have enough money to cover everything.
Travel in groups:Find someone who is interested in visiting the same places. By travelling with others, you can share costs and experiences.
Work as you go:Need more money to support your trip Look for work in the places you visit.
Go off the beaten path: Tourist cities may be expensive. You may want to rethink your trip and go to a lesser-known area. Smaller towns can have many interesting activities and sights.
Pack necessary things:The most important things to take are not always clothes. Remember medicine in case you get sick and snacks in case you can’t find a cheap restaurant.
