2. Writing practice
Write out a short passage about the Three Gorges and the Dam.
The Three Gorges are situated in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River, and are famous throughout the world. The Three Gorges include the Xiling Gorge which is considered the most ferocious of the Three Gorges, Wu Gorge which is the most beautiful in the Three Gorges and Qutang Gorge which is considered the most majestic of the three. Along with them, you can enjoy a number of beautiful places of interest, such as, Zhaojun Village, Qu Yuan Temple and Baidi Town etc..
The Gezhouba Dam is at the entrance to the Gorges which was build in 1970’s and finished in 1980’s. It is a large multi-purpose water conservancy project. Since the reform and open policies began to be carried out, great changes have taken place there and the Three Gorges of the Yangtze River have taken on a new look.
