【试题解析】
【2026·江苏南通市第一次模拟】
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
For our long-service leave, my husband and I decided to travel around Tasmania with our camper trailer(野营拖车). We were coming all the way across Western Australia to get there — not exactly a “lap of the map”, but still a big trip. We’d packed our bikes, surfboards and our dog.
It was all going beautifully until we got to St Helens in Tasmania. We were looking forward to hitting the bike trails and the beach. But what was meant to be a fun day of mountain biking quickly turned into a stressful, late-night rescue when my husband broke his leg on the trail.
Thanks to the incredible local emergency services, he was located, rescued and airlifted to hospital. As I watched him being flown off the mountain by helicopter, relief flooded through me — and then reality hit. I was now solely responsible for the dog, the vehicle and the camper trailer still set up back at the campsite. Packing up the trailer was a two-person job. My family and friends were 4,000 km away in Western Australia. And my dog needed a walk!
The next day, new neighbours arrived at the campsite. Exhausted and worried, I managed a small smile as a man named Sam said hello and began setting up with his wife. I wondered what they thought — a solo woman with a dog, no partner in sight, and a camper trailer full of gear(齿轮).
Eventually, Sam’s curiosity got the better of him. He asked a few gentle questions and, after two days of silent stress, the whole story poured out.
Sam listened patiently, kindly. He nodded, said little, and returned to his own camp. That evening, he and his wife, Hillary, did something extraordinary. With no hesitation, they told me they’d pack everything up for me. “Tasmania has given us a warm hug, “they said. “Now we want to pass that hug on.”

【答案】
The next morning, true to their word, they arrived ready to help. And what followed was no small task. My husband, still in a hospital bed, talked us through the process over the phone. It was complex and physically demanding. Piece by piece, with calm and methodical care, Sam worked it all out, while Hillary offered encouragement, guidance and good humour. After two hours, the camper was ready to go. It would have taken me days on my own and, even then, I’m not sure I could have done it.
But their kindness didn’t stop there. They invited me to join them for dinner and a seat at their campfire, sharing their food, their warmth and their company. I hadn’t realized how much I needed that simple kindness. It felt like the first deep breath I’d taken in days. I will never forget that holiday. Not just because of the accident, or the brilliance of the emergency services, but because of Sam and Hillary. They gave me a warm Tasmanian hug — just when I needed it most.
②分享:share/distribute
③意识到:realize /be aware of
情绪类
①鼓励:encouragement/motivation
②温暖的:warm/cozy
【高分句型】
1. They invited me to join them for dinner and a seat at their campfire, sharing their food, their warmth and their company. (运用了现在分词作状语)
2. It felt like the first deep breath I’d taken in days.

As the college entrance examination drew near, our class was busy with endless reviews and mock tests. Amid the tight schedule, our school invited a foreign teacher, Mr. Brown, to give us extra English tutoring. He was a 35-year-old man from Canada who had lived in China for 8 years, yet few of us paid much attention to him — we only cared about whether his classes could help us get higher scores. I even thought his stories about Chinese culture were a waste of our precious review time.
One weekend, our head teacher arranged a special activity: helping Mr. Brown sort out old books and cultural relics he had collected over the years, which he planned to donate to a local community library. Most of us were reluctant, complaining that we should use the time to do more exercise papers. I hesitated, but since it was a required activity, I had to go. When we arrived at Mr. Brown’s apartment, we were shocked — every corner was filled with Chinese antiques, old textbooks, and photos of rural China. He told us he fell in love with China when he first came here as an exchange student, and had been collecting these items to record the changes of this country. To my surprise, he could speak fluent Chinese, even some local dialects, and knew more about Chinese traditional festivals than many of us.
While sorting out the books, Mr. Brown suddenly stopped at a worn picture album. It was full of photos of a small village in Southwest China, where he had volunteered to teach English 5 years ago. “The children there were eager to learn, but they lacked books and teachers,” he said with a sigh, his eyes filled with sadness. “I promised to send them more books, but a flood destroyed the village road last month, and I can’t get there.” His words touched me deeply, and I felt ashamed of my previous indifference. Little did I know, this accidental discovery would let us see a foreigner’s deep affection for China, and a sudden decision would connect us closely and let us understand the true meaning of love for the motherland.

Paragraph 2:

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】
After hearing Mr. Brown’s story, I suggested our classmates help him. To my surprise, all of them agreed immediately, putting aside their review plans. We divided the work: some sorted and packed books; others looked for donations online or asked our parents for daily necessities. Mr. Brown was moved to tears and joined us in writing encouraging notes in Chinese for the village children. Though we spent a whole weekend on this, no one complained. I realized that unity is strength. As senior three students, we should not only study hard but also pass on kindness, which is a form of patriotism.
A week later, we went to the village with Mr. Brown. The children welcomed us excitedly. We gave away books and supplies. Mr. Brown taught the kids English, while we cleaned the classroom and mended desks. Seeing the children’s smiling faces and Mr. Brown’s devoted look, I deeply understood that love has no national boundaries. It is our duty as Chinese youth to spread warmth to others and work together to build a better country. This is the real meaning of patriotism: cherishing what we have and passing kindness to every part of our motherland.

“Package!” a man called to me through the window, placing a box on the doorstep. I jumped and nearly slid out of my chair and under the dining room table, but it was too late. He’d already seen me. I forced a smile and thanked him as he turned away.
Growing up, I lived in the last house on a dead-end street. Neighbors hardly passed by, let alone strangers. In college, I was blessed with the best roommates one could ever expect. They let me hide behind them when we were around other people.
In the subsequent years, I kept working around my anxiety about crowds and people by waiting them out. If I saw someone at the spot I was going to, I’d hang back at a distance until they were done.
After my husband and I bought our own house, I’d hang my head over the balcony (阳台) railing to see if anyone was outside. For an introvert (内向者) like me, this was the most convenient way to minimize the chance of encountering a stranger.
Nevertheless, I didn’t shut out the world entirely. Like many introverts, I love books. I could connect with all sorts of characters and find endless joy in exploring their worlds. Thus, once we had a house, I couldn’t wait to build a Little Free Library.
“You do realize that means people will be coming to the yard, right ” my husband asked.
I tried not to think about that part through the preparations and finally launched my dream library. I would sit at my desk at the corner, knowing all sorts of folks from the neighborhood were coming for a book or two and pretending they weren’t there.
Every day before closing time, I would check the Library and see what books the visitors had taken and take delight in their choices. It was a way of bonding with fellow book lovers from a safe distance.

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】
Unexpectedly, that distance grew shorter as time went by. One afternoon, a little girl with a picture book in her hand lingered by the library and waved shyly at me through the window. Mustering up all my courage, I waved back gently with a smile. Later, an elderly man came to return a poetry book and stopped to chat briefly about his favorite verses, his voice warm and soft. I didn’t rush to hide or escape; instead, I listened patiently and even shared my own love for poems. More neighbors began to greet me kindly during their visits, their casual words breaking the invisible barrier little by little.
The interactions with these friendly and curious visitors truly changed me. I no longer hid at my desk or checked the balcony nervously before going out. I started standing by the library to welcome readers, asking about their favorite books and even recommending some nice reads. The once-scary strangers became warm acquaintances bonded by books. My anxiety faded away, replaced by genuine joy of connecting with others. The Little Free Library was not just a place for books anymore — it became a bridge that led me out of my shell and into the beautiful warmth of the world.

Jamie loved wandering through second-hand markets at weekends, firm in the belief that every old object carried a unique story. One rainy Saturday in November 2024, he caught sight of a thick, old-fashioned wool coat hidden in a corner of a small shop. It looked well-worn, yet still elegant. Driven by a strong desire, he bought it and brought it home.
While cleaning the coat, Jamie felt something hard and stiff in its inner pocket. He carefully pulled out a faded leather-bound diary. As Jamie flipped through the yellowed pages, he realized it was a heartfelt journal kept by a woman named Eleanor, who wrote of her deep longing for her husband, stationed overseas during a war decades ago. She recorded the bittersweet days of raising their young daughter Nancy all alone.
Page after page, Eleanor described their daughter’s first steps and the sharp sorrow when the little girl cried for “Daddy”. She wrote of small victories: teaching the girl to read, mending her dresses, preparing simple but tasty meals. All these were mixed with quiet struggles and the constant fear that her husband might never return. Yet she found strength in the hope that he would one day walk back through their door.
The final entry, dated December 24, 1954, was particularly moving. Their daughter Nancy was falling asleep, as Eleanor wrote, and still asked if “Daddy” would be home to hang the Christmas stockings. “I’ve written down every precious moment,” she noted, “so one day you'll know how much you were loved. I’ll keep this diary until we can read these words together as a family.”
Jamie was deeply moved. On the back cover, he found a faint old address: No.12, Rosewood Lane. A strong sense of responsibility surged through him. Braving the cold rain, he headed for the address, full of expectation.
However, when he finally reached Rosewood Lane, his heart sank. The house stood empty, its windows in ruins, showing that no one had been there for a long time.

Jamie was determined to find the owner anyway. He refused to give up the diary that carried so much love and hope. He took photos of the diary and the old address, then posted them on local social media groups, telling the moving story behind it. Days later, he received a message from an elderly woman named Nancy, who said the diary belonged to her late mother Eleanor. Her voice trembled as she explained that her family had moved away years ago and the coat was donated by accident. They immediately arranged to meet.
Jamie and Nancy met at a café as agreed. When Jamie handed her the diary, Nancy’s eyes were filled with tears at once. She gently touched the familiar handwriting, recalling her mother’s deep love and endless waiting for her father. She thanked Jamie sincerely for bringing back such a precious treasure. For Jamie, this experience taught him that every old item not only holds a story but also connects lost love and memories, making this rainy Saturday unusually meaningful.

One Monday morning, John Evans, a ragged boy in oversized hand-me-downs and worn-out shoes, shuffled (拖着脚走) into our second-grade class in a small North Carolina town. As the son of migrant apple pickers who barely earned enough to feed their family, he stood awkwardly while Mrs. Parmele introduced him to us. Whispers of disapproval drifted across the room; no one returned his smile, but he kept grinning anyway. I held my breath, hoping he wouldn’t sit next to me — yet the teacher pointed him to the empty desk beside mine, and I looked away to avoid seeming friendly.
By the end of the first week, John was the least popular in the class. I even told my mother it was “his own fault” for “not knowing how to count.” But one day, when he asked to sit with me at lunch, I reluctantly agreed. As I listened to his chatter and watched him eat, I realized our mocking of him was unjustified — he was pleasant to be around and by far the most cheerful boy I knew. We played together on the playground after lunch, and I resolved to be his friend.
That night, I told Mom John’s birthday was the next day, and he would get nothing: no cake, no presents, no celebration. Mother and I both knew that whenever a kid had a birthday, their mom would bring cupcakes and party favors for the class. Between my birthday and my sister’s, Mom had made several such trips over the years. But John’s mother worked all day on the farm, and his special day would likely go unnoticed. Mom kissed me good night and said softly, “I’m sure everything will turn out fine.”
The next morning, I said “Happy birthday” to him. His embarrassed smile showed he was grateful. Yet as the day went on, it seemed his special day would still receive no care at all — no cupcakes, no party favors, nothing but a simple greeting from me. My heart ached for him.注意:

Then from the hallway came a familiar voice singing the birthday song. My mom stood there, holding a box of cupcakes and a bag of party favors, her smile warm and bright. The whole class erupted in “Happy Birthday, John!” He stared in surprise, his eyes wide with disbelief, then tears spilled down his cheeks as he realized someone had cared enough to make his day special. We passed out cupcakes, and for the first time, John laughed happily, surrounded by classmates who were finally seeing him.
The next day, I noticed a change in the other kids. No more whispers or looks away when John spoke. A boy shared his crayons during art class. A girl asked him to join her jump rope game at recess. The ice had broken, and what had started as a small act of kindness had opened the door to real friendship. John wasn’t just the new kid anymore; he was one of us, and I knew that my decision to be his friend had made all the difference.

Jake and Leo were the star shooting guards of East High and West High respectively, both crazy about basketball and skateboarding. They were often seen practicing three-pointers in the park basketball court and racing each other at the park track on weekends, each determined to prove he outshone the other. Basketball games were held regularly between the two schools. On the court, they were tough rivals; off the court, they competed in secret. Despite this, neither of them expected a conflict would explode between them at the city basketball final.
That afternoon, the gym packed with audience shook with cheers. That was a thrilling close game. With 10 seconds left, the score was 58-57 for West High-East High. Jake’s team was down by just one point. Sweat ran down Jake’s forehead, his eyes fixed on the basket, jaw set tight. He dribbled (运球) hard, leaning forward to rush past a defender, glancing at the clock — 6 seconds left. His legs tensed, desperate to score the winning point for his team. Leo, quick as lightning, rushed to block him. Their shoulders crashed violently and Jake’s ball slipped from his hands, rolling out of bounds. The buzzer rang — West High won.
Annoyed, Jake gave Leo a rough push. “You charged into me on purpose!” he shouted. Leo glared at him yelling, “I was just playing defense! You’re just a sore loser who can’t stand defeat!” They wrestled on the court. Their teammates pulled them apart and the two stormed off. For weeks, they stayed away from each other.
One summer noon, Jake grabbed his skateboard and backpack containing a first-aid kit, something every sports addict kept handy, heading to the park skateboarding zone. As he neared the basketball court next to the ramp (滑板坡道), he spotted Leo, alone, practicing jump shots. Seconds later, Leo went for his skateboard nearby, skillfully jumped onto it and slid toward the ramp at high speed.

But the front wheel got stuck in a narrow gap on the ground. Losing his balance, Leo was thrown off, blood running down his leg. He cried out in pain. Jake froze, memories of the basketball game flashing through his mind. But the next second he threw his skateboard aside and rushed over. “Are you all right Did you hurt your leg ” Jake asked anxiously. “Bend it and see if it can move.” Leo obeyed. “It... it can move,” Leo mumbled, relieved and embarrassed. “Stay where you are,” Jake said firmly. Pulling out his first-aid kit, Jake dropped to his knees and began to clean and bandage Leo’s wound with care.
After giving Leo first aid, Jake picked him up. They walked slowly to the nearby steps and sat down. “Thank you, bro,” Leo looked into Jake’s eyes, saying sincerely. Jake scratched his head awkwardly, muttering, “Don’t mention it. And... that day I was just mad that we lost. Sorry for pushing you and yelling.” Leo also apologized for having said something unkind. “Let’s forget it,” they both said and laughed heartily. Soon they got chatting about skateboarding tricks and basketball moves, the tension between them completely melting away. The summer breeze blowing gently, the two former rivals suddenly found themselves becoming close friends, linked by their shared love for sports.

Mark was a quiet boy in my class. He rarely spoke to others and seemed hard to get along with. My classmates and I usually left him alone, partly because of his indifferent (漠不关心的) attitude.
However, I often saw him after school, alone in an outdoor basketball court, practicing shooting tirelessly. Even on cold days, he’d be there, sweat flowing down his face. I lived opposite the school and could see him from my window, a habit I’d picked up after first noticing him. Since my discovery of his quite good skills, I wondered if I, captain of my school’s basketball team, should ask him to join us.
One evening, I looked out of the window, and saw Mark already leaving the school. Not far ahead of him, there was a mother and her child. The child held a small ball in his hands. Suddenly, the ball rolled onto the busy road. Focused on his ball, the child ran after it, unaware of a car approaching quickly in the weak light.
As the sky was dark and the child was so small and in dark clothes, the driver seemed not to notice the child’s actions. The child’s mother cried out in fright, frozen in fear. Just as a tragedy seemed unavoidable, Mark dashed onto the road. The driver, seeing a figure coming out to the road, hit the brakes (刹车) hard immediately, but the car still dragged forward.
My heart stopped. The world seemed to stand still. People rushed to the scene. The child was crying, but Mark was found protecting him tightly with his body. Ten minutes later, an ambulance took Mark, the child, and his mother to the hospital.

The next day at school, I saw Mark in the classroom as usual. He sat quietly at his desk, as if nothing had happened, but I noticed a bandage on his arm. I walked over, patted his shoulder and thanked him for saving the child. He looked up, a little surprised, and nodded slightly with a faint smile. Soon, the story of his bravery spread around the class. My classmates and I gathered around him, expressing our admiration and concern. For the first time, Mark didn’t look indifferent; he listened patiently, his eyes softening a little.
After that day, something changed. Mark no longer stayed alone all the time. When I asked him to join our basketball team again, he agreed without hesitation. During practice, he played skillfully and cooperated well with us. He even started talking to classmates, sharing small moments of his life. We all realized that behind his quiet appearance was a kind and brave heart. The once distant boy became part of our group, and our class became warmer because of this brave and gentle boy.

It was just past noon on a sunny Saturday last August when Jacob Bell heard screaming coming from the lake, some 50 yards offshore. He sped in his boat toward the scene, where he saw a girl was drowning. Without thinking, he grabbed the girl’s arms and then pulled her through the water to the back of the boat, which was more shallow. There, he was able to lift her up and onto the deck.
As he looked at the unconscious teenager lying on the deck of his boat, he saw her face, her lips, even her ears were blue. But Bell’s recent CPR training kicked in. Just six months earlier, he had taken a first-aid course as required for his job as a truck driver. After Bell kept pressing, she took a deep breath and opened her eyes. She was alive. Once they reached the shore, he continued rushing her to the hospital. She was released later that day.
It didn’t take long for the media to brand Bell a hero. He was uncomfortable with the praise. As he explained to his wife, he once made a lot of mistakes in his life, so the idea of being labeled a hero felt awkward to Bell. But he was happy to get back to work driving for a gas station.
Six weeks after the rescue, as he was driving west of Fort Worth, he soon spotted smoke. He slowed down to see a car that had apparently hit a telephone pole and was upside down. It was on fire. He grabbed a fire extinguisher (灭火器) from inside his truck and hurried down to the burning car. Although he sprayed until the extinguisher was empty, the car kept burning. So he used the metal extinguisher to break the driver’s side window.

【答案】
When he reached into the car, he found the driver was still stuck in by his seat belt. Without hesitation, he struggled with all his might to free the trapped driver, though his hands got burned by the intense heat from the fire. After what seemed like an eternity, he managed to cut the seat belt and pull the driver out just as the car was engulfed in flames. The driver, though in shock, was alive, thanks to Bell’s quick actions and bravery. Then the driver was driven to the hospital, and later he expressed his sincere gratitude to Jacob Bell for saving his life.
Soon, the media poured into Bell’s house. They wanted to know more about the man who had once again shown incredible courage and selflessness. Bell, still uncomfortable with the hero label, shared his story modestly. He emphasized that he was just doing what anyone would do in such situations. His wife, proud and supportive, stood by his side, knowing that her husband’s actions were not out of the ordinary for him, but still extraordinary in the eyes of the world. Bell’s story continued to inspire, proving that true heroes are those who act without hesitation to help others, regardless of the risks involved.

For years, Nick spent every free moment on his skateboard, riding through the streets, practicing tricks, and laughing with friends. Skateboarding had always been his favorite sport and lifelong passion, and his love of skating helped him build a community where he truly belonged.
Everything changed one day when Nick was suddenly paralysed (瘫痪的) by Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS), a rare condition where the nervous system got attacked. What started as a sore muscle in his leg quickly turned into a medical emergency. He spent 13 weeks in intensive care at a hospital and seven months in recovery. Everything that once felt natural had to be learned all over again, like moving, standing, or even lifting his hands.
Being unable to skateboard during this long recovery left Nick deeply frustrated. Suddenly losing that part of himself made the days feel heavier. Learning about his struggle, Riseup, a local nonprofit organization dedicated to helping people rebuild their lives after illness, began checking in on him regularly. Volunteers brought updates from the skate scene, shared small stories to keep his spirits up, and guided him through exercises to regain strength and mobility. Their steady presence gave him the courage to recover with determination and he was slowly recovering some of his strength and mobility.
One quiet afternoon, while trying to distract (分心) himself, Nick explored Etsy, an online marketplace for handmade goods and noticed that many people were selling wooden sculptures they had carved themselves. Their colorful shapes caught his attention and awakened something inside him. With his old wooden boards piled in a corner at home and his desire to stay connected to skateboarding still strong, he suddenly imagined turning those worn-out boards into artwork. The volunteers, aware of his new idea, encouraged, “Go for it! Those boards have stories; make something out of them. And we’ ll be here to help.”

【答案】
Nick soon started experimenting. He rummaged through his old skateboards, selecting those with the most character—scratches, dents, and faded stickers. With trembling hands but a determined heart, he began carving the wood into abstract shapes, inspired by his skateboarding memories. As he sanded and painted each piece, he poured his emotions into the artwork, transforming worn-out boards into vibrant sculptures. To his delight, his creations quickly gained attention online, and orders started pouring in, filling him with a renewed sense of purpose.
With the money he earned, Nick chose to give back. He donated a portion to Riseup, the organization that had supported him during his darkest days, hoping to help others facing similar struggles. He also used the funds to organize free carving workshops for patients in rehabilitation centers, sharing his story and skills to inspire them. Nick realized that though he could no longer ride a skateboard, he could still create and uplift others, turning his pain into a powerful force for good.

After seeing a sci-fi film, which tells the story of a young boy boarding an express train on Christmas Eve to visit Santa Claus at the North Pole, 4-year-old John had been asking about going on a train. Then his mother Elaine booked them a ride on one of those Polar
Express-themed trains on Christmas Eve. She hoped he would be innocent enough to enjoy the whole experience.
When they boarded the train, he kept asking questions about how fast they would go, how far they would travel, whether they were really going to the North Pole, how long it would take to get there, and whether time would slow down like in the film.
As they rolled along in the train, John asked again, “When are we going to go fast ” Elaine knew what he meant. He often talked about how fast the train moved in that film, and Elaine imagined that he pictured them doing the same. He wanted to fly through time, feel the wind on his face, and see the world rush by and change from mountains to snow to frozen water and ice caps like the character in the film.
“This is as fast as it goes,” Elaine said. He frowned, and she added, “It’s because there are so many small kids here who would be scared to go faster.” He eyed other kids around. “They’ll be okay,” he promised.
Then, a conductor came down the aisle (过道), and John flagged him down.“Can this train go faster like in the film ” he asked.“Like fifty miles an hour, or maybe five hundred ”
The conductor, with a knowing smile, said, “I’m going to see what we can do. I’ll go ask the engineer.” John smiled, content with himself. The conductor knew it was impossible to speed up as the boy liked, but they wouldn’t destroy the little boy’s fancy. They decided to stage another edition of the experience. Then, he walked away, offering Elaine a private smile.

【答案】
After waiting for minutes, John found the train slowed down and even stopped instead of going faster. His eyes widened in confusion and disappointment. “Why is it stopping ” he cried out. Elaine tried to comfort him, saying it might be some technical issue. Just then, the conductor rushed back, looking a bit worried. “I’m sorry, little guy,” he said. “The engine seems to have a problem. But don’t worry, we’ve called a repairman. He’ll be here soon to fix it and then we can go even faster.” John nodded reluctantly, still looking a bit sad.
When John saw the “repairman” waiting outside the train, his jaw dropped. The “repairman” was dressed exactly like Santa Claus! He climbed aboard with a big smile and a bag full of tools. “Ho-ho-ho! Don’t worry, young man,” Santa said. “I’ll get this train running in no time, and we’ll be zipping along faster than you can imagine.” As he “fixed” the train, he told John stories about the North Pole. Soon, the train started moving again, and this time, the speed increased. John’s face lit up with joy, believing that Santa had made his wish come true.

As a doctor in a famous hospital in the big city, my aid to a remote village is firm and unshakable. I am a regular visitor, not just as a medical volunteer but as a friend, a part of their extended family. The aid has been a test, and in overcoming it, we have all discovered a deeper sense of unity and purpose. The aid also has built a bond between us, one that will continue to grow stronger with each visit.
On a summer afternoon, the heat was almost unbearable, the air thick with the promise of a coming storm. As a volunteer in the remote village medical aid activity, I was aware of the urgency of our mission. The village was accessible only by a narrow dirt road, and we had to complete the medical consultations before the sun dipped below the horizon.
Shortly after I treated the last patient, I received an urgent message that made me nervous. A villager had been stung by an unknown insect and was experiencing a severe allergic (过敏的) reaction. Time was of the essence; it could be fatal if not treated timely.
I swiftly coordinated a response team, which included a local guide familiar with the shortcuts through the dense forest that separated us from the nearest hospital. We gently moved the stricken villager onto a stretcher (担架), and with the leading of the villager’s family, we began the race against time.
The journey was filled with challenges. The forest was a labyrinth (迷宫) of shadows and whispers, the damp and dangerous bushes. As it was night, our progress was slowed by the need to navigate by the dim light of our flashlights. The villager’s breathing became difficult, and his pain was clear.
In the distance, the faint but growing sound of helicopter cut through the evening silence — a rescue team was on its way. However, the trees were too dense for a safe landing. We needed to act fast, but the helicopter didn’t find us for a long time. Suddenly, an idea occurred to me while we nearly had a sense of desperation.

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】
I used our flashlights to shine on the dark sky. It was a flash of hope, a brilliant streak of color against the dark. The helicopter responded, circling lower, its searchlight passing through the night as it located us. We hurriedly cleared a small area, pushing aside fallen branches to create a landing place. The rescue team’s arrival was a masterful display of efficiency. The villager was quickly yet carefully transferred to the helicopter, which lifted off as swiftly as it had landed, disappearing into the night sky.
We returned to the village and found that the villagers were still waiting for us. Obviously, they were eager to know the situation of the injured. I told them that the villager had received timely medical assistance and the doctor said there should be nothing very serious about him. Upon hearing this, all the villagers breathed a sigh of relief. After expressing their gratitude to me, they slowly went back home. Sensing their sincere heart, I truly realized the significance of medical aid and was more determined to continue this career.

After my husband and I bought our own house, I’d hang my head over the balcony(阳台)railing to see if anyone was outside.
