The mind is a wonderful thing. It’s also an excuse-making machine that frequently tries to convince us not to take action we know is good for us.If we hadn’t learnt about these excuses, or how to overcome them, we would never have succeeded in making these positive changes.
So why does the mind mess with us and make unreasonable excuses Because the mind wants comfort, that’s the reason. It’s afraid of discomfort, pressure and change. The mind is absorbed in its comfort zone, and anytime we try to stretch that zone too far, for too long, the mind tries desperately to get back to “ground zero” at any cost. These damaging excuses, such as “I can’t do it” “It is too hard for me” “It’s too late now” and so on, are no strangers to our minds.
It seems too difficult at first, so you think you can’t stick to the positive change you’re making. This excuse can be countered (对抗) by looking at the fact that other people were no more capable than you thought you were. For example, my 60-year-old next-door neighbour finished running a marathon, so I told myself, “If she can do it, so can I!” Truth be told, the only person who tells you “I can’t” is yourself. If you hear those words echoing in the back of your mind, tune them out.
I’ve witnessed people reinventing themselves at all ages:48-year-olds starting families, 57-year-olds graduating from college for the first time, 71-year-olds starting successful businesses, and so forth.
Another common excuse is that “I’ve already failed too much.” If you break down, it’s fine, because you are only human.Just don’t stay down; take a rest, and then pick yourself up so you can go to where you’d rather be.As a famous person said, “Success is never final; failure is never fatal. It is courage to continue that counts.”
Some people feel like quitting when they have almost reached their goal, while others attain goals through their efforts until the last second. So make some necessary adjustments to get rid of the bad habit of making excuses.Keep going! No excuses! Think, work, and climb, that’s how you’ll move your life forward.

In 1914,Ernest Shackleton and his 27 workers left England on a wooden sailing ship called the Endurance in the hope of becoming the first to cross Antarctica. But in 1915,the Endurance got trapped in the thick ice and later sank.Shackleton and all of his men lived, but the tale of their long and difficult return is one of the most famous survival stories of all time.
Although Shackleton kept accurate records of the ship’s position and the ship’s photographer even took pictures of it as it went down, the ship had never been found ever since.
On 6 March 2022,a search team announced that it had located the ship. The Endurance was found 3 kilometres below the ocean’s surface, about 6 kilometres south from its last known position. The name can be clearly read on the back of the ship.Even though the ship is made of wood and is over 100 years old,it has survived with little damage.Scientists say the small organisms that normally break down wooden objects underwater don’t live in the cold waters around Antarctica.
To locate the Endurance, the team used two underwater robots. They were especially useful, since they could travel under the ice,go where the ship could not and find anything sticking up above the sea floor. Finally, the ship was found.Once the ship was located, the robots used high-quality cameras and scanners to record the Endurance in detail.
Antarctica’s waters are protected by an international agreement, which means the ship can’t be disturbed. The team plans to create a digital 3D model of the ship site, using the careful scans they made. This will allow scientists to study the ship in detail without disturbing it.

I believe that having a voice in something you put effort into will build you into a stronger person. All the time, I have grown as the one only willing to help others.
When I was in high school, I grew tired of the same routine daily, and wanted to be given a challenge. At the beginning of my fresh year, I was selected to be a drum major for the school band.A drum major is the leader of the marching band during rehearsals (排练) and in performances. But I did not know how to take on the actual job for the first time.So I watched many videos on how to act better, though I couldn’t do it very well.

In my last two years of high school, I became known as one full of confidence in any situation.I was the first one to volunteer and the happy one to lend a hand.I learnt to have a voice by being chosen to lead the marching band and became stronger through losing and making new connections. And I somehow influenced some of my friends to become a better person.
