科学巨匠杨振宁
Yang Zhenning, a world-famous physicist, Nobel Prize winner, and
professor at Tsinghua University, passed away in Beijing on October 18,
2025.
Yang was born in Hefei, Anhui Province, in 1922. When he was 13,
after reading a book about the universe(宇宙), he told his parents,“I want
to win the Nobel Prize one day.” This “big dream” came true when he was
35. In 1957, he and Li Zhengdao won the Nobel Prize in Physics for their
great discovery that changed how scientists understand the universe.
His most important work was the “Yang-Mills Gauge Theory” proposed
in 1954 with Mills. This theory is like a “foundation stone” of modern
physics, similar to Einstein’s Theory of Relativity(相对论). Later, he also
found the “Yang-Baxter Equation”, opening new paths for scientific
research.
Yang loved his motherland deeply. In 1971, when China and the US
started to build better ties, he became the first famous Chinese scholar to visit
China. He was so moved to learn China made its atomic bomb(原子弹) by
itself that he cried. Back in the US, he talked about China’s progress
everywhere, encouraging many Chinese scholars to come back.
In 1999, Yang returned to Tsinghua University to teach. Even in his
80s, he still gave lessons to first-year students. He raised money to help
Chinese scientists study abroad and set up research centers in many
universities. In 2015, he gave up his US citizenship and became a Chinese
Academy of Sciences member.
Yang Zhenning’s life tells us: with passion for science and love for our
country, we can achieve great things.

In ancient China, the culture of invitations was very important.
Invitations, also known as “qing tie” or “qing jian” in ancient times,

The materials of ancient invitations were different. In the early days,

bamboo or wood to make invitations. After the invention of paper, paper
