One sunny afternoon , I took a taxi to the airport. As the taxi driver drove on the road , a young man was riding his bicycle very fast while listening to an MP3 player. Metres away , there was a sharp turn to the left. But the young man didn’t slow down. The taxi driver quickly stopped the car , missing the accident by just a few centimetres. It was so dangerous that we all felt our hearts beating fast! Luckily , the young man on the bicycle just fell and wasn’t hurt.
The young man became very angry after picking up his bicycle. He pointed at us and shouted loudly. However , my taxi driver stayed calm and simply smiled at him. I was surprised and asked , “Why are you so kind? It’s not your mistake.”
The taxi driver then shared an important lesson called “the law of the rubbish truck(垃圾车法则)”. He explained , “Some people are like rubbish trucks. They carry bad feelings like anger or sadness inside. When their I asked him , “Won’t they affect your mood?”
He smiled , “Many things around us may affect our feelings and moods , such as colours , weather , news and the environment. It’s very important for us to be in a good mood. Successful people don’t let others ’ bad moods affect their day. Life is too short to waste time on sadness. Always care for those who treat you kindly , and don’t hold anger against those who don’t. Remember: 10% of life is what happens to you , and 90% is how you face it!”
