I'm Caroline. I walked into Renewal after a long day at work. I'd been “going" all
day-stressing about a new project, scheduling meetings-everything with the goal of crossing tasks off my to-do list. My final "to-do” of the day was my first acupuncture(针灸)treatment.I kept asking myself: Where would the needles go Would they hurt How long would it take Did
this appointment really fit into my schedule
Since it was my first appointment, the acupuncturist Tessa and I talked about my medical history, health concerns, and how acupuncture might help. Previously, several things had come to mind when I thought about acupuncture: various friends who tried it to help with pain.
Fortunately, I didn't feel pain, but I learned that acupuncture may still help me with my
mental health. I explained to Tessa that I struggle with managing anxiety during stressful
situations, and sometimes even when there's no apparent cause.
After we talked, I lay down as Tessa explained how she'd begin the treatment. The
placement of each needle has its purpose rooted in Chinese medicine: from the top of my head, down my arms, and on my feet. My questions from before were all answered, even
though I had already forgotten them. After all the needles had been placed, Tessa left the room for the rest of my session and came back to check on me occasionally. I almost fell
asleep and found that the process ate away my previous fear.
After my treatment, my mind felt clear. My weekly to-do list was back on my mind, but
seemed far less frightening. I felt inspired to consider everything I could do to keep both my
mind and body healthy. It's one thing to know about the importance of self-care, but another
to really believe in it. Now I think I'mn on my way.
24. How did Caroline feel before the first acupuncture treatment
A. Puzzled yet cheerful. B. Exhausted yet happy.
C. Worried and restless. D. Upset and sorrowful.
25.Why did Caroline mention her friends in Paragraph 2
A. To indicate the acupuncture's popularity.
B. To clarify the acupuncture's effectiveness.
C. To show her former impression on acupuncture.
D. To share their unique experiences of acupuncture.
26. What do we know about Caroline during the treatment
A. She failed to remove former worries. B. She was unconscious all the way.
C. She fell asleep at the beginning of it. D. She slowly processed her panic.
27. What does Caroline's experience show
A. Think twice before you act. B. Where there is a will, there is a way.
C. Slow and steady wins the race. D. The proof of the pudding is in the eating.
C
Language transfer happens when individuals apply their knowledge of one language to
another language they are learning. There are two primary types: positive transfer and
negative transfer. Positive transfer occurs when the structures or rules of the native
language (L1) are similar to those of the target language (L2), while negative transfer
happens when the structures or rules of L1 differ from those of L2. For example, Chinese learners often wrongly say "I don't know where is he or I don't know he is where" instead of the correct “I don't know where he is” because of negative transfer from Chinese word order.
Language transfer is unavoidable, which reflects the learners' attempt to acquire a new
language by relating it to their existing linguistic(语言的)knowledge. The more similar L1 and L2 are, the more likely positive transfer is to occur. Higher skills in L1 can lead to more
obvious language transfer, whether positive or negative. Formal instruction and interaction with native speakers can affect how language transfer appears. Learners' cognitive(认知的)
styles and learning strategies can influence their reliance on L1 when learning L2.
It is noteworthy that negative language transfer can lead to errors in L2 production due to the influence of L1 structures or rules. It also causes the lasting presence of L1 features in L2,hindering fluent and accurate communication in the long run. For instance, a native English speaker learning French might struggle with the correct use of French gendered words due to the lack of a similar grammatical feature in English.
To minimize the negative effects of language transfer, every educator can employ several
strategies. Highlighting the differences between L1 and L2 can truly address potential mistakes in advance. Raising learners' awareness of potential areas of negative transfer and providing
corresponding drills can help eliminate errors. Timely and constructive feedback on learners'errors can help correct long-term wrong habits and reduce confusion. Encouraginglearners to take risks and view errors as learning opportunities can reduce anxiety related to language transfer.
28. Which sentence shows the negative transfer of Chinese
A. I absolutely love Tim. B. Nothing is impossible.
C. Bill very likes English. D. Out comes a stranger.
29. What kind of language learners are more likely to have language transfer
A. Those proficient in mother tongue.
B. Those good at language translation.
C. Those familiar with grammar rules.
D. Those skilled at interactive methods.
30. What does the underlined word “hindering" in Paragraph 3 mean
A.Facilitating. B.Ceasing. C. Establishing. D.Blocking.
31. What is the last paragraph mainly talking about
A. The differences between L1 and L2. B. How to lighten negative transfer.
C. The methods of removing bad habits. D. How to perceive negative transfer.
D
Have a constant feeling that someone or something is watching you Chances are that it's a camera. Cities around the world use computer vision-enabled CCTV to monitor vehicle and pedestrian(行人)traffic. In the near future, physical stores might employ them to catch thieves.
Japanese telecom company NTT East cooperated with tech startup Earth Eyes to create
AI Guardsman, a machine learning system that attempts to catch thieves in the act. Relying on open source technology developed by Carnegie Mellon University, it scans live video streams from cameras in convenience stores and supermarkets, tracking every customer inside. When it detects suspicious activity, for example, when a would-be thief starts looking for blind spots or begins nervously checking their surroundings, the system sends an alert to a store clerk's smartphone with the person's photo and location.
Distinguishing between thieves and indecisive shoppers isn't easy, though, and NTT East
makes no claims that its algorithm(算法)is perfect. It sometimes flags well-meaning customers who pick up and put back items and salesclerks refilling store shelves, a spokesperson for the
company told The Verge. But the telecom claims that AI Guardsman learns from its mistakes
over time. In the companion smartphone app, clerks log whether or not they spoke to suspects detected by the system, and the results are used to remove false positives.
There's a concern, of course, that AI Guardsman's computer vision algorithms are likely to
be affected by bias. A 2011 study found that facial recognition algorithms in China, Japan, and South Korea had more trouble dlistinguishing between Caucasian faces than faces of East
Asians, and in a separate study, researchers observed that face detection systems from security
companies performed 5 to 10 percent worse on African Americans.
AI Guardsman, which costs around $2,150 in addition to a monthly subscription fee of $40, will go on sale at the end of July. Hopefully, we'll learn more about its limitations and privacy protections before then.
32. What can AI Guardsman do in real time
A. Send images to the police. B. Locate specific products.
C. Call absent-minded clerks. D. Spot unnatural shoppers.
33. How does AI Guardsman boost its accuracy
A. By increasing its workflow. B. By updating its database.
C. By referring to clerks' acts. D. By collecting users' tips.
34. What is the concern about AI Guardsman
A. Poor system stability. B. Unfair visual judgments.
C. Racial discrimination. D. Pricey subscription fees.
35. What is the author's attitude toward AI Guardsman
A. Impartial. B.Dismissive. C.Doubtful. D.Optimistic.

Animals have always had to adapt. 36 The rate of species loss is growing, and it's estimated to be between 1,000 and 10,000 times higher than the natural extinction rate. The World Wide Fund for Nature revealed a 73% decline in the average size of the wildlife populations monitored between 1970 and 2020. Currently, around a third of amphibian(两栖的)species are at risk of
extinction.
Mass extinction events can also cause animals to evolve as the territories they live in change so quickly. Animals must adapt to survive in new environments where previous wildlife has been eliminated. 37 Our ancestors evolved three times faster in the 10 million years following the
giant species' extinction compared to the previous80 million years.
38 After all, those adapting well are far more likely to survive. Many animals use hairless parts of their body to help regulate their body temperature. In the case of wood mice, their tails are becoming longer. Similarly, the ears of elephants are growing.
This comes down to simple physical principles: animals can cool off more quickly through
larger surface areas. At the same time, animals are becoming smaller, which again helps them to
lose heat more quickly because of the greater surface areas to volume. Animals are also becoming lighter in colour. 39 Surely, it's a good thing that animals are adapting Well, yes and no.
Adaptation to meet one challenge can create new challenges. Birds with larger beaks(喙),for
example, may find it more difficult to feed. 40 The current situation has scientists concerned
about the rate at which this “shapeshifting" is happening.
A. This may lead to unnecessary food waste.
B. Those without this ability have simply been extinct.
C. The realistic question is how far an animal can adapt.
D. Global warming destroys the homes of many animals.
E. Animals change body structures due to climate change.
F. For instance, evolution exploded after dinosaurs died out.
G. That keeps them cooler and better hidden in sunny places.

Ben's grandpa had passed away a few months before, leaving his grandma Lily alone in
their old house in the countryside. Ben's parents were deeply concerned about Lily living alone
in the rural area, where no one would take care of her if she were to feel sick. After repeated discussions, they decided to bring Lily to live with them in the city.
However, Lily felt extremely uncomfortable as soon as she moved into the city apartment.
She was used to the warm atmosphere in the countryside, where neighbors would greet each
other loudly when they met and drop by for a chat anytime. But in the city, the residents in
the same building barely knew each other; they would hurry into the elevator without even a
nod,and the thick doors separated each family.
Every morning, Ben left for school, and his parents went to work, leaving Lily alone in the spacious and quiet apartment. She would wander around the rooms aimlessly, touching the
cold furniture and staring at the tall buildings outside the window. She couldn't grow vegetables as she had done in the countryside, nor could she find someone to talk to. Soon, a look of
sadness and loss appeared on her face.
After a week, Lily finally begged to go back to the countryside. “I really can't get used to the life here," she said with a sigh, her eyes filled with disappointment. "I miss the fields, the neighbors, and the life I used to have." Ben's parents firmly disagreed, saying that it would be too risky for her to live alone in the countryside.
Seeing Lily's depressed look, Ben felt a pang of(一阵)heartache. He knew how much his grandma loved the rural life, especially growing vegetables. Suddenly, an idea occurred to him.
He remembered that the lady who lived on the top floor, Tracy, had planted a lot of vegetables on the roof. He had seen her carrying watering cans up to the roof several times.
注意:
(1)续写词数应为150左右;
To relieve Lily's loneliness, Ben decided to ask Tracy for help. As days went by, Lily's life in the city gradually changed.2026

22.C 根据JobDescription部分:Prepareitemsfordelivery(打包商品)和Checkhowmanyproductsareleft
andrefilthemintime(监控库存)可知,电商助理要打包商品、监控库存。

friendswhotriedittohelpwithpain.”
{#{QQABLYGl5giwgJbACA6LQ00oCgsYsJEgJIgExRAeOARCSAFABAA=}#}
故选 A。
故选A。
