Passage 1
Shakespeare and Company in Paris, founded by George Whitman in 1951, stands as one of the world's most famous bookstores. Here is a guide to visiting the bookstore.
Tumbleweeding
The main reason why this bookstore is so famous is due to its Tumbleweed program. George had been a traveller and floated like a “tumbleweed” until he moved to Paris to become a bookseller. He wanted to honour those who had given him the full treatment throughout his travels. So George would invite ambitious writers into the store as “Tumbleweeds”. They had to help around, read a book a day and write a short autobiography about themselves in exchange for a place to stay in the bookstore. This is a tradition they still uphold today.
Different sections
This bookstore is like a labyrinth(迷宫) with various sections for fiction, non-fiction, history, art, etc. Despite the crowds on the bottom floor, there are lots of quiet small areas to relax on the upper floor. You'll find a desk area here where you can write your own mini autobiography to stick on the wall. There are seats overlooking Notre Dame Cathedral and someone is even playing the piano.
Opening time
It's open from Monday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and on Sundays from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. If you want to avoid long queues, you can visit during the week and get here just before opening time.
Top tips for visiting

Don't bring large bags. They won't let you in with large bags or suitcases.

Date marking: Use-by and best-before dates
Foods with a shelf life of less than 2 years must have a best-before or use-by date.

(2026杭州一模)Media literacy isn't just a nice-to-have skill anymore—it's essential. At its core, media literacy means understanding how media works—who created a message, why it was created, and how it was meant to influence the audience. Students are constantly surrounded by messages: some are helpful, while others are misleading. Teaching them to analyze, question, and evaluate the media gives them the tools to think critically and make informed choices. The good news You can build media literacy into what you're already doing, one step at a time.
Use Headlines as Warm-Ups
Start class with a real-world headline—ideally one related to your subject area. Ask students:
● Is this information reliable
● Where did it come from
● What might be missing
This five-minute routine builds awareness and can lead to heated discussions.
Compare Two Sources
Pick two texts on the same topic but from different perspectives. This could be editorials, news articles, or video content. Ask students to compare:
● Language and tone.
● Choice of images.
● What facts are emphasized or ignored
This is a great way to teach bias (偏见) and points of view, especially in ELA or social studies.
Build Visual Literacy
Use political cartoons, advertisements, or photos to practise interpreting:
● What's the message
● How is it being communicated visually
● Who benefits from this image
This kind of analysis helps students read beyond the text.
This is about teaching students to be curious, and you just need to model curiosity. When you say, “Let's figure out where this came from,” you're demonstrating to students how to think critically. And when they see you do it regularly, they start doing it, too.#5.6

3.What is prohibited in the bookstore ( )
A.Taking pictures. B.Getting around by wheelchair.
C.Bringing purses. D.Sticking your stories on the wall.
根据题干中的“prohibited”和原文中的“Don't, can't”是同义替换,可定位至Top tips for visiting。根据“You can't take photos inside. There are signs everywhere that you shouldn't take photos”可知,在书店里拍照是被禁止的。A项“Taking pictures”和定位句中的“take photos”是同义替换。

1.What is the primary purpose of teaching media literacy to students ( )
A.To arouse their interest in media.
B.To enhance their literature skills.
C.To develop their critical thinking ability.
D.To broaden their general media knowledge.
2.Which technique of teaching media literacy is recommended ( )
A.Using visual aids in teaching.
B.Asking students to connect two sources.
C.Providing materials that include pictures.

故选A。
3.How can teachers best stimulate students' curiosity ( )
A.Ask routine questions. B.Show, don't just tell.
C.Reward curious students. D.Tell, don't just watch.
B项“Show, don't just tell”是原文中“model curiosity”的同义替换;是“When...to think critically”的概括替换。故选B。

C.The player sitting across. D.The player getting bumped.
根据SETUP部分中的“Movement is clockwise around the board...and play passes to the left”可知,游戏是按顺时针方向进行的,玩家完成回合后,轮到其左侧的玩家开始。A项“The player on your left”和原文中的“play passes to the left”是同义替换。
3.What may a player do under the rules ( )
A.Skip a turn when drawing a 1 or a 2.
B.Put used cards face down on “Drop Here”.
C.Defeat an opponent by jumping over his pawn.
D.Enter SAFETY ZONE after backing 2+ past START.
故A错。根据B项关键词“Drop Here”定位到原文Notes部分中的“Place the card face up on ‘Drop Here’”,规则明确要求牌面朝上,故B错。根据C项定位到Jumping and Bumping部分,jump over和BUMP是两种不同操作。 只有BUMP(落在对手棋子的格子上)才能将对手棋子撞回起点。故C错。根据D项关键词SAFETY ZONE定位至Moving Backwards部分中的“If you have successfully moved...your own SAFETY ZONE”,如果玩家的棋子向后倒退并超过起点至少两格,后续就可以直接进入安全区。D项中的“backing 2+ past START”是原文中“moved a pawn backwards ...START space”的同义替换。
