A
As a nation we are becoming more aware of the food we and our children are eating. The recent campaign to improve school dinners by celebrity (名人) chef Jamie Oliver has helped raise
awareness of our fast food lifestyles. While we may be trying to eat more healthily, it seems we still have some bad habits.Healthy eaters or just trendy
Are there certain things that you do and don’t eat and why With so many food programmes and books telling you what you should and shouldn’t eat to be healthy, it’s hard to make choices. Some people are vegetarians (食素者) for moral reasons, some don’t like the taste of meat and
there are one or two people who do it because it’s trendy. Likewise, it can be trendy to follow the latest celebrity’s diet because it’s what the famous are doing.Eating out
People are eating out more often now, not just on special occasions as in the past. The choice of restaurants has also diversified. Italian, Chinese and Indian restaurants have been around for
years but have now been joined by Mongolian, Japanese, Mexican and so on. Bars and pubs are still popular for food and often promote English cuisine (烹饪) made with local produce.
“We enjoy eating out a couple of times every month whether with friends or just as a couple. We like trying new things so we go to different restaurants.” Said Craig, 25 County Durham.Eating on the go
From chocolate bars to sandwiches more people are eating on the go — on the street, in cars or on buses and trains. While our parents and grandparents may disapprove of this behavior,
considering it to be bad manners, people eat on the go because they are rushing from one place to another. And in the home the number of people sitting down at a dining table for their evening
meal is on the decrease as meal times become more informal.
“If I’m running late for work, I don’t think twice about eating toast in the car or on the bus but I know my mum wouldn’t approve,” said Stacey, 24.

Beijing Opera is the most typical of all Chinese traditional dramatic art forms and the
largest Chinese opera form. Having a history of about 200 years, it is developed from absorbing
many other dramatic forms, mostly from the local drama “Huiban”, which was popular in South
China during the 18th century. It is a scenic (舞台的) art including music, performance, literature, aria (唱腔) and face painting.
Theatrical art forms in many other countries do not present singing, dancing and spoken
parts in one single drama. An opera singer, for example, neither dances nor speaks on stage; there are no singing or dancing parts in a modern play; in a dance drama, the dancer bas no speaking

Mom was right! If you say thank you, for even the smallest gift or slightest show of kindness, you’ll feel happy.
Gratitude (感激), says Robert A. Emmons, a professor of psychology at the University of California, is an important element of happiness. In his recent book, Thanks!, Emmons uses the first major study on gratitude to prove mom’s point. In acknowledging and developing this
much-ignored expression of thankfulness, he explains how people have benefited — even improved their health.
As one of the leading scholars of the positive psychology movement, he admits gratitude may be difficult to express. He advises you to begin by admitting that life is good and full of
events and elements that make daily existence a wonder. Second, recognize that the source of life’s goodness is more than just you. That source may be your mom, a friend, partner, child, colleague at work or play, or any combination of these.
Gratitude is always other-directed, notes Emmons. You can be pleased or angry with yourself and feel guilty about doing something wrong, but you can never be grateful to or for yourself.
Expressing gratitude shouldn’t be a reaction; it should be state of mind. To feel grateful
when life is a breeze and you have more than you need is easy. To feel grateful in time of crisis — anger, hatred and bitterness — is easier. Also, too many people are aware of life’s blessings only after these are lost. The voices expressing gratitude from his studies of individuals are many.
It’s crisis and chaos — danger, disease, disability and death — that bring many individuals to realize just how dependent they are on others. Yet it’s the way each of us begins life and ends it. It’s too bad that so many people waste those decades in between laboring under the illusion (幻觉) that they are self-sufficient (自给自足的), says Emmons.
To enable and embrace gratitude, Emmons encourages the readers of Thanks! to keep a gratitude diary. He even provides easy-to-follow directions on how to practice and develop
gratitude.
I’m not a reader or advocate of self-help books, but I am thankful for the reference I found in a newspaper article to the research Emmons was conducting on gratitude involving organ
donors and recipients (接受者). The chance discovery led me to this book.

Art is everywhere. Any public space has been carefully designed by an artistic mind to be both functional and beautiful. Why, then, is art still so widely considered to be "the easy subject" at school, insignificant to wider society, a waste of time and effort
Art can connect culture with commercial products in a way that not many other things can;
art generates money and holds significant emotional and cultural value within communities. When people attend a concert, they are paying for music, sure, maybe even hotel rooms, meals, and
transport, but they also gain an incredible experience, a unique atmosphere and a memory that will go through the rest oftheir lives. People don't just want material things anymore, they want to
experience life 一 the arts are a perfect crossover(交迭)between culture and commerce.
Furthermore, the arts can bring communities together, reducing loneliness and making people feel safer. Social bonds are created among individuals when they share their arts
experiences through reflection and discussion, and their expression of common values through artworks in honour of events significant to a nation's experience.
The arts clearly have a pretty positive impact on physical and psychological health. It is
found that people who frequent cultural places or participate in artistic events are more likely to gain good health compared to those who do not; more engagement with the arts is linked to a
higher level of people's wellbeing. The Royal Society of Public Health discovered that music and art, when used in hospitals, help to improve the conditions of patients by reducing stress, anxiety and blood pressure.
Children who are involved with the arts make greater achievements in their education:
those engaged with drama have greater literary ability while others taking part in musical practice exhibit greater skills in math and languages. Kids with preference for the arts have a greater
chance of finding employment in the future. Participating in the arts is essential for child
development; encouraging children to express themselves in constructive ways could help to form healthy emotional responses in later life.

After completing my first year of studies, I decided to relax by taking a trip through one of the most richly cultured countries in Asia: Nepal.
The first thing I noticed about Nepal was its people, kind and friendly, ready to help
someone in need. I'm saying so because all of what I've witnessed between the citizens
themselves, rather than how they treated me as a visitor. It is shown in the way bus conductors and passengers alike keep the bus waiting for that last passenger who is lagging behind. It is evident in how a motorist smiles and waves off a kid who runs onto the street after his ball. The people are
like a hot bowl of soup on a rainy day.
The first place I visited in Nepal was the Sauraha village in the district of Chitwan. It is an amazingly peaceful place, where the people live at their own pace. It is a great area to see some of the wildlife, such as rhinos and elephants. The capital city of Kathmandu was where I spent most of my time. The city is usually very dusty, so make sure to wear a mask. Another great area in
Kathmandu is the district of Thamel. Unlike most other districts, Thamel is very busy throughout the day. Out of all the places I've been to within Nepal. Pokhara is undoubtedly the best place to visit. There are a lot of fun things to try out. I've gone paragliding as well as boating in Fewa
Lake, but you can also go rafting. zip flying and paramotoring.
Nepal is a very affordable destination to travel to. I traveled through the country for about
two months, and spent a little over 500 US dollars. Accommodation around Nepal is inexpensive, mostly varying from about 500 to 1,500 rupees per night per person. During my stay in
Kathmandu. I stayed at a great hotel for two weeks, for 300 rupees per night. which is a great deal.
In a word, Nepal is a fantastic place. Whether you're looking to relax in the wildness and peace of nature, or for an exciting new adventure, Nepal has a variety of choices to offer.

C. I have got it 我明白了;D. I have had enough
2 .A
在定语从句中“whose+名词”可转换为“of which /whom +the+名词” 或“the+名词+ of which /whom”。 故选 A 。
3 .B
5 .A
故选 A。
6 .C
A. Of course not. It’s not allowed here. C. I’d rather you didn’t actually. D. No, you’d better not. Of course not. No, you’d better not.:No“不介意”与“你最好不要”表达的拒绝态度矛盾,排除;
A. on the edge of 在 边缘;B. in the lead 领先;C. to some extent 在某种程度上;D. in my own right凭自身的能力或资格。

句中已有谓语 was not allowed,空处均作非谓语动词,not finish 与逻辑主语 the boy 之间是主动关系,
