Travel has become increasingly inconvenient and sometimes impossible over the last
couple of years. However, museums around the world are digitizing their collections, enabling people to tour the museums from afar.
The British Museum, London
The British Museum contains objects from around the world, including the Rosetta Stone, with three versions of a text that helped researchers learn to read ancient Egyptian. The Great
Court’s ceiling, in the middle of the museum, is composed of 3212 pieces of glass, none of which are alike. The virtual tour of the museum offers a 360-degree view of the room, allowing visitors to look at every piece.

from Korea and around the world. The art includes a variety of media such as print, sculpture and photography. There are also online exhibitions such as “Artists in Their Times” which traces

On a spring day, Guinness World Records held a ceremony in Bournemouth to award local lifeguard Chris Lewis the title. Lewis, 74, began working at the Dorset resort when he was 16.
“It’s the best job in the world,” he said. “You’re working and helping people. What could be better ”
His colleagues were just half his age. But he is still fighting fit. Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) lifeguards must complete a 400m pool swim in under 7.5 minutes. They have
to do a 25m pool swim underwater and a 25-metre surface swim consecutively in under 50
seconds and run 200m along the beach in under 40 seconds. The tests are still reasonably
comfortable for Lewis. All winter he has been doing 3,000 metres of sea swimming each month.
Lewis’s adventure began in 1965 when a police officer spotted that he was a keen swimmer and suggested he get his lifesaving badges. The following year he began volunteering as a
lifeguard at the age of 16. Then he became part of the RNLI lifeguards in 2001 and began providing beach patrols for local authorities.
Now the RNLI patrols more than 240 beaches across the UK. Lewis laughed when asked if he had seen many changes. “The RNLI’s equipment in 2024 includes jetskis, rescue boats and
quad bikes. When I started, we had a T-shirt, swimming trunks, a swimming hat, a coat if you were lucky and a rescue tube. It was really very different.”
His most memorable rescue took place in 2010 when three children got into trouble while
swimming. There was a combination of wind and a lively spring tide. One of them was being
hurled into a rock with severe cuts. The other two were being “knocked around” by the waves.
Lewis swam out just with a rescue tube but managed to get all three back. Over the years, he has performed hundreds of rescues. He says giving advice that prevents people getting into trouble is preferable to carrying out rescues. “I would love to go through the whole of summer without
having to rescue anybody.”
4 .Why is the training of RNLI mentioned
A .To explain the importance of swimming skills. B .To stress Lewis’s efforts and capacity.
C .To show demands of being a safeguard. D .To describe the test process of fitness swimming
5 .What made Lewis begin his life-saving career
A .His voluntary experience. B .His passion for swimming.
C .An invitation from RNLI. D .A police officer’s suggestion.
6 .What can be inferred from Lewis’s words in Paragraph 4
A .RNLI cares for the safety of lifeguards. B .RNLI currently needs more lifeguards.
C .Lifeguard work was not easy in the past. D .The former lifeguards were more skilled.
7 .Which of the following best describes Lewis
A .Devoted and caring. B .Selfless and honest.

Only about three percent of early childhood teachers in the U.S. are male. Experts say this can have an impact on young children whose understanding of gender roles and identity is rapidly forming. Research has found that having access to diverse teachers is beneficial for children. For the youngest learners, it means they are more likely to be exposed to various types of play and
communication. It also helps them develop healthy ideas around gender.
“In our world and our society, we have very specific stereotypes (刻板印象) of gender
roles,” said Mindi Reich-Shapiro, an assistant professor in the teacher education department of the Borough of Manhattan Community College, and one of the authors of a recent study. “It’s
important for children to see other possibilities and other paths they can take.”
Despite mostly feeling supported by colleagues and family members, many of the male
educators surveyed in the study reported facing social or cultural resistance in their careers as
early education teachers. Some also reported that some parents were surprised or concerned that
their child had a male teacher. Additionally, they had been advised by colleagues or other staff not to hug children.
Reich-Shapiro and fellow researchers made several recommendations to increase male
representation in the field. Low pay has long been acknowledged as a major issue in the early
childhood field. Over 70% of male educators who said they intended to stay in the early education workforce noted that an increased salary was a major motivating factor for them to remain in the career for the long term. The report suggests paying all early childhood educators the way
elementary school teachers are paid.
Cities and programs should establish support groups for male early childhood educators and provide mentoring and professional development advice for male educators and their program
leaders.
The authors also suggest that traditional recruitment (招聘) approaches for early childhood educators “do not address the gender gap in the field.” They recommend providing young men
with opportunities to work with children through training and volunteer programs, specifically targeting groups of men who are considering a career change, such as fathers.

Hunting for sport is popular all over the world. Every year in the United States, more than
12 million people go hunting, and wealthy enthusiasts from around the world pay thousands of dollars to go on African safaris. Many hunters simply do it for trophies (纪念品). They pay
taxidermists (动物标本剥制师) to stuff and mount the dead animals, which they then display in their homes as souvenirs.
So, should hunting for sport be allowed No, says the animal rights group PETA. They
believe animals have the right to live out their natural lives in the wild. And the group notes that
hunted animals often escape after being wounded and are left to die slowly and painfully. Other
anti-hunting activists argue that hunters prefer to kill the bigger members of a species, which often leaves the smaller ones behind to breed. As a result, the entire species slowly becomes weaker.
Of course, many hunters disagree. They claim that responsible hunters follow a strict code of conduct, which includes never letting a wounded animal escape, and never taking a shot at an animal unless it is going to be a clean kill. Hunters also argue that their sport keeps certain species in check, preventing overpopulation.
Hunters even argue that they’re helping endangered species. This is because many countries reinvest hunting revenue into animal conservation. For example, some of the money that
Zimbabwe earns from foreign elephant hunters is put back into elephant conservation, which helps the number of elephants steadily increase. However, conservationists say that killing animals in
order to save them is hypocritical and that there are other ways to protect endangered wildlife.
But what about traditional cultures who still hunt for their food The Inuit people have
lived in the Arctic for thousands of years, and local laws allow them to kill a limited number of bowheads a year, which helps them keep their traditions alive. But conservationists see it
differently. They argue that traditional societies must adapt and drop endangered species from their diets.
So what is your idea about this issue
12 .What do PETA say about hunting for sport
A .It keeps animal populations under control. B .It leaves wounded animals to suffer.
C .It follows a strict code of conduct. D .It weakens the whole species over time.
13 .What can be inferred from the example of Zimbabwe
A .Hunting can sometimes aid protection. B .Hunting mainly targets elephants.
C .Hunting brings much money. D .Hunting is driven by profit.
14 .The underlined word “hypocritical” in paragraph 4 most probably means .
A .saying one thing but doing another B .doing something without thinking carefully
C .believing something that is not true D .trying to achieve a goal by all means
15 .How does the author present the argument
A .By listing numbers and facts. B .By quoting different groups.

How to Show Your Friends You Love Them
Psychologists have long thought that humans need meaningful social connections to
survive. In fact, it’s connected to our mental and physical happiness. 16 . Here are some
tips on how to strengthen the existing friendships in our lives.
Give them your skills and talents
Being generous (慷慨的) with your friends — sharing your time, attention or resources
with them — is an easy way to keep your friendships. People want to be and stay friends with
people who value them, and generosity is a way to express that. Think about what your skills and talents are. 17 .
Shower them with admiring
We often think of admiring as the sort of love we show in romantic relationships. But
admiring is more than holding hands and kissing. It’s about communicating love and appreciation. There are many ways you can show love to your friends. 18 . Tell them when you think of them in passing. These simple acts provide a layer of safety in the relationship.
19
Think about how good it feels to tell a friend you secretly like a trashy TV show and hear them answer “me too!” We feel a deeper connection to our friends when our vulnerability (脆弱) is met with support. It means they accept us for who we really are, the good and the bad.
Don’t sweep your disagreements under the rug (毯子)
20 . People often see them as something that’s supposed to be fun and lighthearted, or less formal than romantic or family relationships, so they downplay problems when they arise. But being able to deal with disagreements with friends in a healthy way can strengthen your
friendships. Try talking about them.
A .Sing high praise for them
B .Say your struggles and joys
C .Tell them how much they mean to you
D .It can be scary to be open with our feelings
E .And find a way to turn that into a generous act
F .It’s hard to deal with disagreements in friendships
G .Knowing that we have people to care for us makes us feel confident

I used to hate being called upon in class mainly because I didn’t like having attention drawn to me. I would always look down at my desk, hoping the teacher would call on someone else. And unless otherwise assigned a seat by the teacher, I always chose to sit at the back of the classroom.
All this changed after I joined a sports team. It began when a teacher suggested I try out for the basketball team. To be honest, I almost laughed at the idea — me, on a basketball team At
first I thought it was a crazy idea because I didn’t have a good sense of balance, nor did I have the ability to keep pace with the others on the team — I was sure they would tease me. If it hadn’t
been for the teacher who kept insisting on “going for it,” I wouldn’t have decided to give it a try.
Getting up the courage to go to the tryouts was only half the battle! When I first started attending the practice sessions, I didn’t even know the rules of the game, much less what I was

doing. Sometimes I’d get so confused that I’d freeze with the ball in my hands, not knowing
whether to pass or shoot — which made me feel really stupid. Fortunately, I wasn’t the only one “new” at the game. Among the newcomers was Leo, a tall, quiet guy who looked as lost as I was. We started watching each other’s moves and smiling weakly when we messed up. That shared
struggle made me feel less alone. So I decided to focus on learning the game, do my best at each practice session, and not be too hard on myself for the things I didn’t know just yet.
注意:
(1)续写词数应为 150 左右;

concerned that their child had a male teacher. Additionally, they had been advised by colleagues
or other staff not to hug children.(尽管大多数男教师感觉得到同事和家人的支持,但研究中接受调查的许多男教师表示,他们在幼儿教育教师职业生涯中面临社会或文化阻力。
根据第四段“The report suggests paying all early childhood educators the way elementary school teachers are paid.(报告建议按照小学教师的薪酬方式支付所有幼儿教育工 作者的工资)”可知,吸引更多男性进入该领域的一个建议方法是支付与小学教师同等的工资。故选 C 项。

wounded and are left to die slowly and painfully.( 该组织还指出,被猎杀的动物在受伤后往往会逃脱,并被遗弃而痛苦地慢慢死去。)”
根据第四段中“Hunters even argue that they’re helping endangered species. This is because many countries reinvest hunting revenue into animal conservation. For example, some of the money that Zimbabwe earns from foreign elephant hunters is put back into elephant
conservation, which helps the number of elephants steadily increase.( 猎人们甚至声称他们是在帮助保护濒危物种。 故选 A 项。
根据画线词所在句“However, conservationists say that killing animals in order to save them is and that there are other ways to protect endangered wildlife.( 然而,环保主义者表示,为了拯救动物而杀害它们是 ,并且还有其他方法可以保护濒危野生动物。)” 故选 A 项。

With my improved self-confidence came more praise from teachers and classmates. Now, I find
myself raising my hand in class. Last week, when our English teacher asked a question, I shared
my idea even though I wasn’t fully certain. To my surprise, she smiled and said, “Good point!”
After class, a classmate told me, “You explained that really well.” I realize now that trying is what matters most. I still have more to learn on the court and in class, but I’m no longer afraid of being seen trying.
