The first is survival (生存的) stress. When you are in danger, your body prepares to deal with the danger either by fighting it or running from it. When you face this kind of stress, your breath and heartbeat (心跳) will be faster.
Environmental stress is the second kind of stress. It is from the unhappy things you run into in everyday life. For example, loud noises, bad weather and crowds can cause stress. They are not dangerous, but they are stressful.
The third one is internal (内部的) stress. This type of stress is not caused by something outside of you. Instead, it is caused by thinking about stressful situations that happened in the past or will happen in the future. For example, if you think it is stressful for you to give a talk in front of lots of people, just thinking about it will bring you stress.

Conquering Nature: The Story of the Trans-Siberian Railway
Building the Trans-Siberian Railway was one of the greatest challenges in history. It is the longest railway in the world, stretching about 9,289 kilometres from Moscow to Vladivostok. The project began in 1891 and took over 25 years to complete.
Workers faced terrible conditions along the way. They had to build tracks through frozen ground, deep forests, and high mountains. In winter, temperatures dropped to -50°C, making it almost impossible to work outside. Many workers fell ill or died from cold and hard labour.
However, the Russian people were determined to complete the railway. They built bridges across huge rivers like the Ob and the Yenisei. They dug tunnels through the Ural Mountains. Bit by bit, they pushed forward despite all the difficulties.
Today, the Trans-Siberian Railway is not only a symbol of human determination but also an important link between Europe and Asia. It carries millions of passengers and tons of goods every year. As one engineer put it, “We didn’t just build a railway; we conquered nature itself.”
