For the 2026 CCTV Spring Festival Gala, many people were surprised by a special performer: Xiao Ma, an AI virtual horse, who sang and danced with a famous pop singer on the stage. Unlike previous virtual performers, Xiao Ma could not only move perfectly, but also react to the singer and the live audience in real time, thanks to the support of 5G Internet and advanced AI technology.
To make Xiao Ma look real and lively, the team spent 6 months collecting over 100,000 images of horses, and trained the AI model with them. They also worked with animal experts to make sure Xiao Ma’s movements were natural and correct. During the live performance, 5G Internet helped send all the data of the singer’s movements and the audience’s reactions to the AI server in less than 0.01 seconds, so Xiao Ma could respond right away, without any delay.
“The 2026 gala is a great example of how AI and the Internet can help traditional shows attract more young people,” said Li, a professor of media studies. “Many young people now watch the gala through short video platforms, not on TV. AI events and virtual performers give them more reasons to watch and take part in the gala.”
However, some people are worried that too much AI will make the gala lose its human touch. “The most touching part of the gala is the real feelings from the performers,” said a netizen. “A virtual horse can dance, but it can’t feel the joy of the Spring Festival, right ”
The gala’s director said that they see AI as a tool, not a replacement for real artists. “AI can help us realize ideas that we couldn’t do before, but the heart of the gala is always the love for our family, our hometown and our culture. That’s something only humans can give.”
( )4.What made Xiao Ma different from previous virtual performers
A.It could sing and dance on the stage.
B.It was designed based on the Chinese zodiac sign.
C.It could react to the singer and audience in real time.
D.It was popular with young people.
( )5.What is the second paragraph mainly about
A.How Xiao Ma was created and worked during the show.
B.What the team did to collect images of horses.
C.How 5G Internet helps the live performance.
D.Why Xiao Ma was welcomed by the audience.
( )6.What is Li’s attitude towards the use of AI in the Spring Festival Gala
A.Worried. B.Supportive. C.Doubtful. D.Uninterested.
( )7.According to the gala’s director, which of the following is TRUE
A.AI will completely replace real artists in the future.
B.The core of the gala is still human feelings and love for family, hometown and culture.
C.AI is not useful for realizing new ideas in the gala.
D.The director is worried that AI will make the gala lose human touch.

Scott Johnson, named the Kentucky Teacher of the Year, spent nearly a year researching, designing, and perfecting a 3D-printed artificial hand for his fourth-grade student Lucas.
Born without his right hand, Lucas used a skin tone rubber type hand, which had limited function. He even couldn’t actually grip (紧抓) things.
Without telling Lucas, Johnson began building a custom design — reaching out to engineers, studying existing models, and fine-tuning details. “For the longest time, I didn’t tell anyone other than my wife what I was working on,” Johnson said. “What if I was trying to do something far beyond my skill set I didn’t want to falsely get anyone’s hopes up.” When the school’s “Back to School Bash” arrived, Johnson finally revealed the model. “So, I told him I made this, and that I would like to make one for him.” Johnson recalled. With approval from Lucas’ mom, the project officially became a reality.
The result is a lightweight, strong hand made of tough bioplastic, with foam and smooth interiors for comfort. Most impressively, the hand is completely mechanical — no electronics required. Lucas controls it using his own wrist movements: flexing down closes the fingers into a grip, flexing up opens them again. Internal wires help fingers tighten naturally. Each hand only takes 25 hours to print, four hours to assemble (组装), and costs $ 20 in materials. Johnson covered all expenses, a sharp contrast to medical artificial hands that cost families thousands.
This is only the beginning. Johnson is creating an updated version based on Lucas’ daily feedback. He plans to resize and reprint the hand as Lucas grows, and even teach him to modify the design on his own. “We can scale up the file as he gets older. One day, he’ll be able to make his own edits. That’s the goal.”
( )8.What is the disadvantage of Lucas’ original artificial hand
A.It was costly to maintain. B.It made the skin painful.
C.It was quite heavy to wear. D.It had restricted function.
( )9.Why did Johnson keep his project secret at first
A.To preserve Lucas’ dignity. B.To avoid disappointing others.
C.To get permission from Lucas’ mom. D.To give a surprise at the school event.
( )10.What can we know about Lucas’ 3D-printed hand
A.It operates through an electronic system.
B.It can be controlled by his wrist motions.
C.It is time-consuming to print and assemble.
D.It is more expensive than traditional artificial ones.
( )11.What does the author imply in the last paragraph
A.Lucas may eventually adjust the 3D-printed hand by himself.
B.Lucas will no longer need an artificial hand as he grows older.
C.Johnson has already updated the design according to user feedback.
D.Johnson plans to make more disabled people benefit from the innovation.
D
People have become used to living with AI fairly quickly, which has changed the way many of us communicate or deal with information. It has also led to serious concerns about jobs. Surely mass unemployment is coming soon
But economic data tell a different story: EU unemployment is at a historical low of around 6%, half the level of ten years ago; the UK’s is even lower at 5.1%, roughly the level of the fast-growing early 2000s; that of the US is lower still at 4.4%. Jobs remain plentiful because technology creates new types of jobs.
But yes, AI will take away some jobs. A third of Americans worry they will lose theirs to AI, and many of them will be right. Since the industrial revolution, a wave of innovations has fueled extraordinary exponential economic growth. However, AI, like the computer, the Internet, or the railways, is a slow revolution. And just as there has been no immediate AI boom when it comes to economic growth, there is no immediate change in employment. What we see instead are largely firms using AI as an excuse for standard job-cutting exercises. This then leads to a different question about how AI will affect the meaning of our jobs.
Another question raised by AI is whether it will reduce or increase the inequality between workers. At first, many thought that allowing everyone to use an AI assistant with skills in processing information or clear communication would decrease earning inequality. But other recent research found the opposite, with highly skilled businessmen gaining the most from using AI support. One reason for this is that taking advice is a skill in itself. In my own research with colleagues, we found that giving chess players top-quality advice does little to close the gap between the best and the worst because lower-ability players were less likely to follow high-quality advice. And perhaps that’s the biggest risk AI brings: that some people may benefit from it much more than others.
( )12.What do the economic data show
A.Mass unemployment is coming soon.
B.EU unemployment is higher than America’s.
C.Technology has cut job opportunities sharply.
D.The UK’s unemployment matches the 1990s level.
( )13.What does the underlined word “exponential” in paragraph 3 mean
A.Rapid. B.Steady. C.Irregular. D.Unbalanced.
( )14.What can we infer about companies’ job cuts
A.They result from AI’s direct influence.
B.They are often done under the excuse of AI.
C.They make jobs more meaningful for workers.
D.They cause an immediate employment change.
( )15.How does the author develop his idea in the last paragraph
A.By quoting authoritative figures in the field.
B.By analyzing the cause and effect of inequality.
C.By explaining why people disagree with each other.
D.By presenting contrasting views and providing examples.

第二节 (满分25分)
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
With new faces everywhere, the time in Grade 1 was really tough for me. Since I was an Indian girl, nobody wanted to talk to me. Every spare minute was spent alone, and no classmates would group with me for projects.
Feeling lonely and sad, I was in desperate need of close friends, with whom I hoped to share my happiness and sorrow. A girl named Fatin, who was cute, clever and talented, appealed to me deeply. However, she seemed to be avoiding me as well. Being only six years old, I didn’t understand why people treated me like that, I opened up to my mother about all this, almost crying my eyes out.
Mom smiled, patting me on the shoulder and comforting me until I calmed down. She looked into my eyes and encouraged me, “Honey, don’t worry. They’re just not familiar with you. Try to bring out the best in you. They’ll befriend you as long as they see your excellence.” At that time, I didn’t believe her, but Mom was right.
One day, my teacher, Miss Bibiena, announced that there was to be a speech competition. My heart pounded wildly. I really enjoyed participating in speech competitions. Actually, I was quite good at them. The only problem was that the whole school would be watching me and I knew none of my audience.
However, I was determined to do it. I gathered all my courage, marched up to the teacher and said, “Miss Bibiena, I want to join in the speech competition.” She stared at me for such a long time that I started to feel uncomfortable, but then I saw a gentle smile spreading over her face. She handed me an application form.
The next day, I arrived at school early to submit my form to the teacher. Taking the form, Miss Bibiena said encouragingly to me, “For a new student, you have lots of courage. Do your best, Sneha!” Rarely did Miss Bibiena praise anyone. On my way to class, I smiled at her remark, which lifted up my spirits that day.
注意:1.续写词数应为150左右;
2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
Until the competition day, I practised my speech whenever possible.

第二节
One possible version:
Until the competition day, I practiced my speech whenever possible. I even designed the necessary hand gestures and did repeated practice in front of a mirror. Then came the big day. When my name was called, I went up to the stage confidently and started presenting my speech with full enthusiasm. As I had expected, it was a real hit. The moment my speech ended, I was greeted with a standing ovation from the audience. Finally, I was declared the winner of the first prize and awarded the title of Best Speaker.
As I went off the stage, I heard someone call my name. Turning around, I found Fatin, the girl I admired, waving to me. She approached me and said cheerfully, “Hey, Sneha! You gave us such an amazing speech. Never had I expected you to be so great! Would you like to be friends with me ” “Sure, Fatin.” I happily accepted her friendship invitation without any hesitation. Since then, the two of us have supported and inspired each other through thick and thin. So take up your courage and show your best to the world. Some day you can achieve what you initially dreamt of.
