【原文】
Selina was a college student. Her mother’s birthday was coming. She wanted to buy her a gift, which would be useful but not expensive. A week before her mother’s birthday, Selina went shopping after lunch. She found a store that was selling all kinds of umbrellas. She decided to buy a black one for her mother because she had lost her umbrella the month before. She thought Mom could carry it when she wears clothes of any color. Finally, she spent her pocket money buying a lovely black umbrella. That evening, on her way home by train, she felt a little hungry because she had such a small lunch. Then she went to the dining car for a sandwich and coffee. However, Selina found the umbrella was missing when she came back, so she told 3 other passengers about the umbrella. After they heard the story, they asked Selina for her mother’s address. They told her that they could send the umbrella to her mother if somebody had taken it by mistake. Then Selina got off at the next station. The next week, Selina heard from her mother. It said, “Thanks for your lovely gift, but why did you send me 3 similar black umbrellas ”

The most important quality of a leader
In my opinion, responsibility is the most important quality a leader should have.
A responsible leader takes charge of the team’s tasks and stands by members when difficulties come. They make careful plans and never give up easily, which keeps the team united and focused. Without responsibility, even a team with good skills may fall apart when facing problems.
A responsible leader guides the team to move forward and helps it reach all goals smoothly. It’s the key to building a strong and successful team.

Do you work in teams at school I often do. I enjoy teamwork because sharing ideas excites me. Of course, team activities aren’t always easy. Here are step-by-step tips for smoother teamwork.
Know the goalsEnsure everyone understands the project’s goals. Check the teacher’s instructions carefully and ask questions if unclear. There’s a popular saying, “If you don’t know where you’re going, you probably won’t get there.”
Pick rolesEveryone should have a role in the team. For example, there should be a leader who helps everyone make decisions. There might be a note-taker who writes down the team’s idea during meetings, and a time-keeper to control the time. There might also be a fact-checker or a group speaker. When picking roles, think about what each member is good at or enjoys doing.
Divide the workFor large projects, the work can be divided into smaller tasks. Then you can choose tasks that you do well or enjoy. Of course, you shouldn’t always do the same task. It’s good to try new things, even if they’re difficult!
Make a planAfter dividing tasks, create a plan. Use a calendar to list tasks with deadlines. Follow the plan strictly. And if you can’t finish your part on time, tell the others as soon as possible.
Try to be positive and follow the advice above in order. Everything is easier when you’re enjoying yourself in the team.
23.For smoother teamwork, what should a team do first
A.Make a plan. B.Know the goals.
C.Pick roles. D.Try new things.
24.Which role is responsible for recording ideas
A.Leader. B.Time-keeper.
C.Note-taker. D.Group speaker.
25.What does the writer think about trying difficult tasks in teamwork
A.It wastes time. B.It is unnecessary.
C.It is encouraged. D.It improves skills.
26.What is the benefit of being positive in teamwork
A.It helps make plans.
B.It reduces the need for a leader.
C.It allows everyone to work alone.
D.It makes tasks easier and more enjoyable.

Do you have a good memory Can you remember English words you learnt last week Or have you forgotten the deadline of your project Many of us often say, “My brain doesn’t work well”. Maybe you can try a new way of training your brain—learning with your team members.
“Teamwork makes our brains work better,” said the memory expert Jonathan Hancock. “Being part of a team has many advantages for remembering things.” In his memory research, he finds that the participants (参与者) in a team always behave better than people who work independently. That’s because they have less personal pressure and more time to think over each question.
But there’s even more going on according to Canadian researchers, who’ve shown that our brains get a natural improvement when they’ve got company (陪伴). Their study suggests two reasons. First, when we’re with people who are trying to remember something, we can easily feel that tip-of-the-tongue phenomenon, so we also want to join in to challenge ourselves. Second, after knowing others can remember things well, we can be encouraged to make it, too.
To make better use of the power of team learning, you can use the contagion (传染效应) to awaken and improve memories. For example, go over new words together with your partners. Believe it or not, you’ll be amazed at your magic memory. Also, you can share the duty together. If you have many tasks to remember, ask your partner to remember the date of the school play while you’ re in charge of remembering project deadline. In this way, both of you will remember things more easily and deeply.
27.How does Jonathan Hancock support his idea in Paragraph 2
A.By doing research. B.By giving an example.
C.By providing a form. D.By listing numbers.
28.Which of the following situations matches “tip-of-the-tongue phenomenon” in Paragraph 3 best
A.You bite your tongue and lose words.
B.You lose control of the tip of your tongue.
C.You come up with an answer and express it quickly.
D.You think of something but can’t express it in words.
29.What is Paragraph 4 mainly about
A.Ideas of learning English new words.
B.Ways of sharing memory duty with partners.
C.Advice on improving memories by teamwork.
D.Research about remembering the project deadline.
30.What is the writer’s purpose in writing the passage
A.To introduce the results of some memory research.
B.To encourage people to use their brains more often.
C.To invite readers to take part in their research.
D.To ask readers to make use of teamwork to improve memories.

Sit back and get relaxed!
These days, we easily feel stressed as we get more and more work to do. It’s important to know how to solve problems and find ways to relax.
First, we should try organizing our work from most important to least important as well as most urgent (紧急的) to least urgent. 1 As soon as those are done, work on things that are important but not urgent. Then, do things that are less important and less urgent. This makes us know what to do first and not worry about the rest.
Still, sometimes we feel stressed even after organizing our work. That’s okay. 2 Because exercise helps a lot in forgetting about our problems. It doesn’t even have to be a big trip to the gym, although that surely helps. It could be something as small as walking around the neighborhood for 10 to 20 minutes.
Finally, we can try meditation (冥想). 3 Just set aside 10 to 20 minutes with an alarm clock, sit straight, close our eyes, and focus only on breathing. If other thoughts come up, accept that they are there and let them fly away on their own. 4
By trying these steps, we will certainly feel peaceful when finishing all of the work.
A.How can we do that
B.It is not easy to get work organized.
C. Try to add some exercise into our weekly plan.
D.Both our body and mind can get relaxed this way.
E. If some problems are both important and urgent, do those things first.
