Get Closer to Nature
Autumn is a special time to enjoy the outdoors, when the weather is cool and refreshing for experiencing the sights and sounds of nature. Research shows that spending time in a natural setting has many benefits — it can help reduce anxiety and stress, improve concentration and attention, and even lead to better sleep. Here are some ways to get started.
Go for a walk, bike, or hike
The easiest way to get closer to nature is to simply step outside. Gather family or friends and go for a walk or bike ride in your neighborhood or a local park. Besides getting exercise, you’ll be stimulating (刺激) your senses, from seeing a variety of colors in autumn leaves to feeling a gentle wind blow through the trees.
Try bird-watching
November is a great time of year for bird-watching. It’s when many bird species take flight on their migratory (迁徙的) journeys to warm destinations to the south. You can visit a bird reserve in your area or learn more about the birds in your neighborhood. The highly-recommended Merlin Bird ID app is a free bird guide with photos, bird sounds, and maps that can help you identify the bird species you hear or see.
Plant a fall garden
Fall is a good time to plant because it’s less hot for plants but the soil is still warm. In parts of the US where the weather is milder, you may be able to plant leafy crops like spinach, broccoli, and kale through December. You can also bring nature inside by having plants in your home.

If you are planning on travelling, there are a few simple rules about how to make life easier both before and after your journey.
First of all, always check and double-check departure (出发) time. It is surprising how few people really do this carefully. Once I arrived at the airport a few minutes after ten. My secretary had got the ticket for me and I thought she had said that the plane would leave at 10:50. Surprisingly, the person at the departure desk told me that my flight was closed. Therefore, I had to wait three hours for the next one and missed an important meeting.
The second rule is to remember that even in this age of credit cards, it is still important to have some local money in cash (现金). Once I arrived at a place at midnight and the bank at the airport was closed. The only way to get to my hotel was by taxi but because I had no dollars, I offered to pay in pounds instead. “Listen! I only take real money!” the driver said angrily. You can imagine how terrible I felt at that moment.
The third and the last rule is to find out as much as you can about the weather at your destination before you leave. I feel sorry for some of my workmates who travelled in heavy suits and raincoats in May, when it is still fairly cool in London or Manchester, to places like Athens, Rome or Madrid, where it is already beginning to get quite warm during the day.
12.When did the author arrive at the airport probably
A.At 9:55. B.At 10:00. C.At 10:05. D.At 10:50.
13.When the author found he had no dollars to pay the taxi driver, he ________.
A.asked the driver to give him a free ride B.offered to pay in pounds
C.gave the driver some fake (假的) money D.tried to pay by credit card
14.Generally, in May the weather in London is ________.
A.warm and dry B.cold and dry
C.hot and wet D.cool and rainy
15.What is the text mainly about
A.How to make life easier. B.How to be well prepared for a trip.
C.How to enjoy ourselves on a trip. D.How to schedule our trip.

It was a bright and sunny morning at Greenfield High School, and the annual sports day was in full swing. The atmosphere was electric, with students cheering, banners waving, and the smell of popcorn filling the air. But all eyes were on the final event of the day — the 400-meter race.
Among the participants was Mia, a quiet but determined girl from Class 10B. Mia wasn’t the fastest runner in school, nor was she the most athletic. In fact, she only joined the track team a few months ago after her best friend, Emma, convinced her to give it a try. “You’ve got heart, Mia,” Emma had said. “That’s all you need.”
As Mia stood at the starting line, her heart pounded. She glanced at her competitors — tall, confident, and experienced runners who had won countless medals. Mia tightened her shoelaces and took a deep breath. She reminded herself of the hours she had spent training, the early mornings, and the blisters (水疱) on her feet. She wasn’t here to win; she was here to prove to herself that she could finish the race.
The starting gun fired, and the runners shot off like arrows. Mia started strong but soon found herself lagging behind. By the halfway mark, she was in last place. Mia felt as if a heavy weight had settled on her shoulders. She couldn’t bring himself to look at the crowd. As cheers began to fade, doubt crept into her mind. “Maybe I should just stop, No one will notice.” she thought.

46. My favorite sports
My favorite sport is running, which I have kept doing for two years. Every morning, I jog in the park near my home, breathing fresh air and feeling the warm sunshine.
I love running mainly for two reasons. First, it helps me stay healthy and full of energy, making me more focused in class. Second, running teaches me perseverance — when I feel tired, I always encourage myself to keep going. It’s not just exercise; it’s a way to challenge myself and relax. In conclusion, as a very good workout, running will continue with my day.
47.范文:
But then, she heard a familiar voice, “Go, Mia! You can do it!” It was Emma. Mia turned her head slightly and saw her best friend waving a big banner enthusiastically. The encouragement was like a spark that reignited the fire in her heart. She clenched her fists and summoned up all her remaining strength. Ignoring the pain in her legs and the shortness of breath, she quickened her pace. With every step, she felt more determined.
With just 50 meters to go, she could barely breathe. Her legs were heavy, but her mind was clear. She was so close to the finish line. The image of her family and friends waiting for her at the end spurred her on. Summoning every bit of strength left in her body, she dashed forward. As she crossed the finish line, the crowd erupted in cheers. Mia was tired but overjoyed. She had achieved what she set out to do, and that was more precious than any medal.
