近三年真题显示,命题人越来越喜欢在语境对话中考查情态动词的推测用法(must, can't, might, could)和必要性表达(must, need, have to)。
能力类:can, could (能够)
许可类:may, might, can (可以)
必要类:must, have to (必须), need (需要)
建议类:should, ought to, had better (应该)
推测类:must (一定), can't (不可能), may/might/could (可能)
我的口诀:“能力许可can may,必要must should应该,推测must强于may,否定can't铁定猜。”
→ 肯定推测用 must/may/might (must可能性最大,may次之,might最小)
→ 否定推测用 can't (不可能) / may not (可能不)
(He must be at home.)
→ 过去推测:情态动词 + have done (He must have gone home.)
典型错误:学生常把“must have done”写成“must had done”,或者把“can't have done”写成“can't had done”。
3:must / mustn't / needn't / don't have to
need: 需要 (情态动词或实义动词) needn't: 不必 = don't have to
作情态动词:need + 动词原形 (常用于否定和疑问) → Need I go / You needn't worry.
作实义动词:need to do (肯定句常用) → I need to go. / Does he need to go
表示能力否定:can't = 不能 → I can't swim.
表示推测否定:can't = 不可能 → He can't be at home; the light is off.

Have you ever wondered why people in different cultures have different attitudes toward rules In some countries, people believe that rules must be followed strictly. They think breaking rules is a serious matter. In other cultures, people think rules might be flexible depending on the situation. For example, in some Western countries, it is common to see people jaywalking (乱穿马路) when there is no traffic. But in Japan, people usually wait for the green light even if no cars are coming. So, can we say one way is better than the other Probably not. Different cultures have different values. What we must do is understand and respect these differences. When traveling abroad, we should learn about local customs. This way, we can avoid misunderstandings and enjoy our journey.
Now answer the questions below.
21. What does the writer say about rules in different cultures
A. Rules must always be followed strictly everywhere. B. Some cultures are more flexible about rules than others. C. Western people never follow rules. D. Japanese people don't care about traffic rules.
22. What does the writer suggest we do when traveling abroad
A. Follow only our own country's rules. B. Ignore local customs. C. Learn about local customs to avoid misunderstandings. D. Always argue about rules with locals.
