形容词和副词是中考英语中描述事物性质和行为方式的词类，其比较级、最高级及原级比较是每年必考内容。近三年真题对比较级的基本句型（than）、最高级的范围表达（in/of）、同级比较（as...as）、以及不规则变化（good/well, bad/badly, many/much等）考查频率极高。掌握本专题，对完形填空、语法填空及写作提升意义重大。
一、形容词与副词的基本功能
形容词：修饰名词或代词，作定语、表语或宾语补足语。例：a beautiful girl, The flower is nice.

二、比较级和最高级的构成规则
1. 规则变化：
单音节及部分双音节词：一般加-er/-est (tall→taller→tallest)
以e结尾：加-r/-st (nice→nicer→nicest)
辅音+y结尾：变y为i加-er/-est (happy→happier→happiest)
重读闭音节结尾，末尾只有一个辅音字母：双写该字母加-er/-est (big→bigger→biggest)
多音节及部分双音节词：前加more/most (beautiful→more beautiful→most beautiful)
2. 不规则变化： good/well→better→best, bad/badly→worse→worst, many/much→more→most, little→less→least, far→farther/further→farthest/furthest, old→older/elder→oldest/eldest。

三、比较级与最高级的常用句型
1. 原级比较： as + 原级 + as (和…一样)；not as/so + 原级 + as (不如…)。例：He is as tall as his father.
