Unit 7 Teenagers should be allowed to choose their own clothes
Sixteen-year-olds should be allowed to get their ears pierced.
get sth./sb. + adj. +adj.
e.g. I can’t get my pronunciation right. The sudden storm got us wet all over.
get sth / sb + to do sth,to do是sth./sb发出的,此时相当于let / make / have sth./sb. do sth.
e.g. Why not get somebody to help you
get sth./ sb + done,done和sth./sb.是被动关系,此时相当于make /have sth./sb. done
e.g.You don’t need to wash your car yourself. Why not get it washed
I have to get my hair cut. It’s too long.
I was late for school from staying out past ten.
e.g. The car was in a bad shape from hitting the tree. (from因为)
Are you for or against public transportation (for赞成;against反对)
Could you give me some advice on English learning (on关于)
A painting by Van Gogh was sold at a high price. (by由......
She gave me warm arms to sleep in.
e.g. Chengdu is a good place to have fun. It’s time to go home. It’s my duty to be on duty.
We have no house to live in, no food to eat and no clothes to wear.
It also discusses what kinds of water were used.
即a kind / set / pair of +名词,作主语时,以kind / set / pair为准。
e.g. A set of keys is on the desk. The pair of shoes is out of style.
I don’t think teenagers should do that.
think / suppose / believe / expect / guess + that从句,变否定句时,要否定主句,即变成don’t / doesn’t think + that从句。
e.g. I don’t think he can do it, can he He doesn’t believe that I can do it, does he
What will happen if he doesn’t end up as a professional runner
句中what will/would happen if...
e.g. What if you had five million dollars What if I wear jeans to the party
Only then will I have a chance to achieve my dream.
此句中,only then在句首,作状语,will I使用了部分倒装。
e.g. Only when you are sick, do you realize how important health is.

Man still has a lot to learn about the most powerful and complex part of his body — the brain.
In ancient times man did not think that the brain was the center of mental activities. Aristotle, the philosopher of ancient Greece, thought that the mind was based in the heart. It was not until the 18th century that man realized that the whole of the brain was involved(参与) in the working of the mind.
During the 19th century scientists found that when certain parts of the brain were damaged man lost the ability to do certain things. And so, people thought that each part of the brain controlled a different activity. But modern research has found that this is not so. It is not easy to say exactly what each part of the brain does.
In the past 50 years there has been a great increase in the amount of research being done on the brain. Chemists and biologists have found that the way the brain works is far more complex (复杂的) than they had thought. In fact many people believe that we are now only starting to learn the truth about how the human brain works. The more scientists find out, the more questions they are unable to to answer. For example, chemists have found that over 100,000 chemical reactions take place in the brain every second. Mathematicians who have tried to use computers to copy the way the brain works have found that even using the latest electronic equipment they would have to build a computer which weighed over 10,000 kilos. Some recent research also suggests that we remember everything that happens to us. We may not be able to recall this information, but it is all stored in our brains.
