Lesson 5 Modern Heroes教案
Teaching aims:
1. To practise extensive reading in order to understand the main idea of each paragraph and guess the meaning of new words from the context.
2. To use time linkers, especially adverbs and conjunctions.
3. To revise the use of Past Simple and Past Continuou.
4. To talk about recent events(last night, this morning)
Teaching difficult points:
1. the distinction between Past Simple and Past Continous
2. the past form of some irregular verbs..

Teaching procedures:
Step 1 Before Reading
1. review----Have students guess the names of the given photos and use the adjs to describe them.
2. lead-in --What are the similarities among these persons —heroes
3. Showing the topic------modern heroes -----Yang LiWei
4. Introducing some useful words and phrases.

Step 2 while-reading
1. exercise 4, predict the right orders of the headings ,then ask the students to listen to the tape and check the answers.

2. Fast reading----find the clue of writing this article:

Step 3 Post –reading (language in use)
1. According to the table, students prepare the questions for the interview in pairs. They may need to go back to the text and get more information or use other information which is related to the event.
2. Students roleplay an interview between Yang LiWei and a reporter with the reporter asking what happened, what Yang LiWei and how he felt.
3. Acting out.
