Teaching aims:
1. To draw students’ attention to the unit objectives , including reading, speaking, listening and writing.
2. To warm up the topic of the unit---- Heroes.
3. To practise using positive and negative opinion adjectives to describe character..
Teaching methods: co-operation learning
Teaching aids:
1. Computer 2. the cassette 3. cards
Teaching procedures:
Step 1 Presentation
1. Check the students’ group work about understanding the contents of the whole unit, and give some comments on them.
2. Show the best one and ask the students to think about their strongest points and their weakest and the most important for them.
Step 2 Leading in
Showing six different people’s photos and asking
1. Which one do you choose as your favourite hero/heroine.
2. What’re the similarities of these people
They are brave, unselfish famous(well-known), great, successful, hard-working, kind, helpful…All of them are heroes.
Step 3 Work in pairs, speaking out the names of different kinds of heroes and heroines.
Step4 Using adjectives to describe a hero or villain
1. Asking the students to try to use adjectives to describe the persons in the pictures. Then showing the key wods.
2. a competition between classes in remembering the key words.
Step5 Classifying the adjectives as positive or negative
Positive---brave, calm, generous, honest, humorous, kind, pleasant, smart…
Negative---cruel, dangerous, violent…
Step6 sentences practice (pair work)
1. Each student writes down three sentences about their heroes ,heroines and villains.
Example Yang LiWei is my favourite hero,because he is very brave and…
2. In pairs, students read out their sentences and the other agrees or disagrees with the statements.
Step7 Listening practice of Exercise 3
1. predicting the answers 2. listening and checking
Step 8 Guessing games(group work)
1. Each group will get a card with a certain person given.Try to use the adjectives you learned to describe a hero or a villain. You can’t speak out the person’s name, let other groups guess who he/she is .

Topics: In our daily life, some ordinary(平凡、普通的) people regularly do heroic things but will never become famous. Can they be called heroes Do you want to be such kind of people Voice your opinions.
