Sheng-生
生行是扮演男性角色的行当，在京剧中的地位非常重要。生行包括老生、小生、武生、红生、娃娃生等几个门类。除红生和勾脸武生以外，生行一般都是素脸，内行术语称为“俊扮”，即扮相都是洁净俊美的。老生又称“须生”、“正生”、“胡子生”。一般都是富有正义感的男性中年或老年人物。人物形象以挂“黑髯口”（黑胡子）为主。小生 主要扮演青少年男子，化妆不戴胡须，扮相清秀、英俊。武生 扮演擅长武艺的青壮年男子 。红生 指勾红脸的老生。娃娃生 戏中专门扮演儿童的角色。

Dan－旦
京剧旦行扮演各种不同年龄、性格、身分的女性角色。旦行又分为正旦、花旦、花衫、刀马旦、 武旦、老旦等专行。正旦 俗称“青衣”，因所扮演的角色常穿青色褶子而得名。主要扮演庄重的青年、中年妇 女 。花旦 大多扮演青年女性。刀马旦 大都扮演擅长武艺的青壮年妇女，武打不如武旦激烈 。武旦 扮演擅长武打、勇武的女性。花衫 是本世纪20年 代以后，综合青衣、花旦、刀马旦的艺术特点，发展而成的新的旦角类型。老旦 专门扮演老年妇女角色的行当。

Jing－净
净，又称“花脸”、“花面”。主要扮演在性格，品质或相貌等方面具有突出特点的男性人物。正净 俗称“大花脸”。副净 俗称“二花脸”。武净 俗称“武花脸”、“武二花”。因表演时以跌扑摔打为主，又称“摔打花脸”。

Chou－丑
丑行，俗称“小花脸”。因化妆时在鼻梁上抹一小块白粉，故而以“丑”为名。又因和净行的大花脸、二花脸并列，又称“三花脸”。丑行的“丑”是指扮相不俊美，并非专指品质上的丑恶。丑行扮演的角色既有阴险狡诈的人物，也有正直善良的形象。丑行分为文丑、武丑两种。文丑 京剧中的各类诙谐人物均由文丑扮演。武丑 俗称“开口跳”，扮演擅长武艺、性格机警、语言幽默的男性人物。
