Lead-in Ss should be encouraged to learn the new words by themselves.

Reading practice. 1) Find out the strange words in 3a. 2) Find out the ways of learning English, and number them. Explain some key sentences and underline the phrases.3) Finish the exercise. 4) Listen to the tape and try to read it. Give some time for Ss to read the passage.Step 3. Pairwork. Make dialogues as 3b. Also you can use the materials in exercise 4. We will know how much the Ss have learnt by giving them a short test.

Example: It began to rain, so we ended up playing basketball.I am very afraid to walk in the dark.We should take notes in class.The movie impressed me very much. Also, ask Ss to make their own sentences in exercise book.
