  On April First, people in western countries try to play trick on others. If one succeeds in tricking somebody, one laughs and says, ”April
  Fool!” The following is one example of tricks people usually play.
  One April 1st, a country bus is going along a road. It slows down and stops. The driver anxiously turns switches an presses buttons, but nothing happens. Then he looks worried on his face and says to the passengers, “ This poor bus is getting old. It isn’t going well now. There is only one thing we can do if we want to get home early today. I shall count three, and on the word “three”, I want all of you to lean forward suddenly. This will make the bus start again. Now, all of you lean back as far as you can in your seats and get ready.”
  The passengers all press back against their seats and wait anxiously.
  The driver goes to the front and asks,” Are you ready ”
  “One! Two! Three!” counts the driver. The passengers all lean forward suddenly, and the bus starts at a great speed.
  The passengers breathe more easily and begin to smile with relief. But their smile turns to surprise and then laughter when the driver merrily cries,” April Fool!”

  难点1. 过去完成时
  本单元我们引入了一个新的时态,即过去完成时。只要记住关键的五个字就一切尽在掌握中了:(动作发生在)过去的过去。
  比如:I went to bed at 10:00 last night.
     My brother went to bed at 9:00 last night.
  上面的两个句子都是用的一般过去时,因为讲述的是过去某个时间发生了什么事情。请你动脑筋:是“我睡觉”这个动作发生在前呢,还是“我弟弟睡觉 ”这个动作发生在前呢?当然是“我弟弟睡觉”在前咯!
  对啦,所以我们把上面两句合二为一就成了:By the time I went to bed, my brother had already gone to bed. ( 到我上床睡觉的时候为止,我弟弟已经上床睡觉了。)。
  后半句之所以用“had already gone “, 即用了过去完成时,是因为“我弟弟睡觉”这个动作发生在 “我睡觉”这个过去动作的“过去”,所以就叫“过去的过去”。
  另外,还有一种情况,也用过去完成时。请看例句:
  Sally: Jimmy has run out of money.
  萨利:吉米已经把钱花光了。
  Tom : What did Sally say just now
  汤姆:萨利刚才说什么呢?
  You: Sally said Jimmy had run out of money.
  你:萨利说吉米已经把钱花光了。
  由此可见,宾语从句中,从句用现在完成时的,在变成间接引语时,从句也要变成过去完成时。
  过去完成时是怎么构成的呢?比现在完成时简单多了!
  主语 + had + (already) + 过去分词
  不管主语是第几人称,也不管主语是单数还是复数,通通都用had,还不简单吗?至于过去分词,大家就记住课本上P69页,grammar focus里的四个就可以了,其他的过去分词,碰到一个,就记住一个,这样才能轻松愉快地学习。
  
  难点2. 一般现在时vs一般过去时vs现在完成时vs过去完成时
  前三个时态都是我们以前学习过了,在这里就不一一细讲了,为了检测一下大家对前三种旧时态和本单元新时态掌握的情况,特此设计了四组任务,希望你能够很好地完成!

  什么是被动语态呢?请先看下面两个例子:
  I open the door. 我打开门。
  The door is opened by me. 门被我打开。
  哦!原来表示某物被某人怎么样的时候,我们可以用被动语态来表示。那么,被动语态是怎么构成的呢?
  某物 + be 动词 + 动词的过去分词 + by + 某人
  1.把主动态变成被动态的方法是把动词to be变成原来的主动态动词的时态,再加上主动态里动词的过去分词。
  主动态: Bell invented telephones. 贝尔发明了电话机。
  在这个主动态句子中,时态是一般过去时,所以,变成被动态时,首先要把to be 变成它的一般过去时形式,即:was / were。然后加上主动态里的动词的过去分词形式。于是就变成了:
  Telephones were invented by Bell. 电话机被贝尔发明了。
  注意进行时态的被动态。这种语态有时似乎难以使用,因为它要求用to be的现在进行时,这种形式在其他方面用得不多。
  主动态:They are repairing the bridge.
      他们正在修桥。
  被动态:The bridge is being repaired by them.
      桥正在被他们修理。

  Future computer
  Do you forget to turn off the lights and heateas when you go out of a room In 2004 it will not matter. They will turn themselves off and on again when your return. You will choose the temperature for each room the lighting and the humidity. (湿度) A sensor will detect ( 察觉) the presence of a human ( and, with luck, ignore ( 忽略 ) the dog!) and turn the systems on, and when the humans leave it will turn them off again.
  The sensors will work through the central home computer, and they will do much more than just turn the fire and lights on and off for you. They will detect faulty electrical equipment, wires or switches, separate ( 隔离) them so that they can’t harm anyone, and then warn you that they need repair. They will detect fire and if you are out of the house, the computer will call the fireman. It will also call the police if the sensors detect a robber. This will not be too difficult because the locks on the outside doors will be electronic. You will open them using our personal card------ the one you use for shopping-----may be using a number known only to you.
  It will be important to lose the key, and a housebreaker will have to tamper ( 乱动) with the lock or with a window. It is not very difficult to make such tampering send a signal ( 信号 ) to the computer.
  The computer will be more than a fireman-policeman-servant. It will be an entertainer, and most of your entertainment will come right into your home. It does now, of course, but by 2040 entertainment will mean much more. You will be able to take part actively, rather than just watching.
