The First Period

Step Ⅰ Guessing words
Lead in the class with the activity “Let’s play sports.”Show the students some pictures of the items of sports presented in this class. And introduce the names of sports. Ask the student who like sports very much come to the front do the actions of sports, and ask the others to guess what sports he is playing. Then teach them the sports things. Ask one or two students to read the words of 1a.Match the words and the items in the picture.
Step Ⅱ Listening
1. Play the tape and let the students listen and match the words and the items in the picture.
2. Listen again and ask students circle the words they hear.
Step Ⅲ
Talk about ownership by introducing “I have…”.Teacher first do a example of saying the sentences and showing them the thing. And ask one or two students to introduce ownership by themselves. Then ask“Do you have…”,talk about some school things we’ve learned in unit2.Write the sample conversation on the blackboard. Say the conversation in the place of sports things. Ask them to practice the conversation in pairs.
Step Ⅳ Game
Ask four students from four groups come to the front. Everyone can choice a picture of sports thing. The other groups will guess the thing with the sentence “Do you have …” The first group that guess the sports thing will be the winner.
When they ask the player, teacher point to the player and ask the others“Does he/she have…”And teach them to answer the questions.
Step Ⅴ Pairwork
Ask three students come to the front as models who takes some pictures of sports things in their hands.Make up conversation like the one in demonstration. Use the items of sports things in the pictures . Ask students to work in pairs to discuss “Do you have …”or“Does he/she have…”. After students have had a chance to practice several exchange, ask pairs to perform the conversation.
Step Ⅵ Summary
In this class, we’ve learned the names of sports and how to ask and answer questions about ownership.
Step Ⅶ Homework
Students make a survey of different classmates’ sports things.
