Teaching periods:
Period 1
Step 1 Greeting
Step 2 Revision
Count around the class from 1-12. As you point to each child, he / she calls out the next number. Increase the speed as much as possible.
Step 3 Listen and point
1. Ask the children to look at the page. Elicit as much information about the story as much as possible in Chinese by asking questions. For example, ask them if they can remember the four children’s name. Ask the Ss to point to the people in the picture and at the picnic, and see if they can guess who each family member is.
2. Play the cassette or read the dialogue. The children listen and follow in their books.
3. Play the cassette again, pausing after each utterance for the children to point at the corresponding picture.
4. Play the cassette. This time pause for the children to repeat each utterance. Encourage the children to point to the people that are mentioned.
5. Repeat this activity, asking individual students to repeat the utterance. Alternatively, divide the children into groups.
Step 4 Act it out
1. Divide the children into two sections. Give each section a role in the conversation. 2. The whole class acts the dialogue, with each group saying the corresponding text.
3. The children now act out the dialogue in pairs. Remind them to point to the corresponding pictures as they do so.

Repeat the chant from the Module 1 two or three times.
Step 3 Listen and repeat
1. This activity reinforces and practices the correct pronunciation of the new vocabulary.
2. Play the cassette or say each word. The children point to the corresponding picture.
3. Point to the pictures randomly. Say the word. The class repeats.
4. Ask individuals to say the words. Correct the pronunciation mistakes.
5. In pairs, the children take turns to point to the pictures and say the words.
Step 4 Say
1. Draw the children’s attention to the picture in their Pupil’s Book.
2. Play the poem on the cassette. The children listen and repeat.
3. Teach the children the poem line by line.
4. Explain the meaning of the poem. Draw their attention to the picture again to illustrate the meaning.
5. Repeat the poem 2 or 3 times. Encourage the children to mime the movement of ducks as they say the poem.

Repeat the song from the last lesson 2 or 3 times. Encourage the children to make duck-like movements as they sing.
Step 3 Game: point and say
1. Ask the children to stand up. Demonstrate the game first. Point to each child and say He’s / She’s … If I say the child’s name correctly and use he / she correctly, the child sits down. If I say, for example, he for a girl, she for a boy or use the wrong name, the child stays standing. Make some deliberate mistakes. Ask the children to correct me.
2. Divide the children into large groups. The children take turns to point and say, testing their knowledge of their classmates’ names as well as practicing He’s / She’s……
3. When a child makes a mistake with He’s / She’s, say for example, Is Chris a boy No she isn’t. Chris is a girl. She’s Chris, etc.
4. Walk around the class offering ample praise and encouragement. Tactfully correct any pronunciation errors.
Step 4 Listen and point, then say
1. Draw the children’s attention to the pictures in their Student’s Books. Elicit that the picture is on a duck family.
2. Play the cassette or read the tape scripts. Pause after each utterance for the children to point to the corresponding duck, according to what they hear.
3. Repeat. This time ask the children to repeat the utterance they hear.
Step 5 Dismiss
Note: 本模块是这册书最简单的,只有两个句型This / That is …及He / She is a …涉及的单词是家人和职业,与学生的生活很贴近,所以学生的兴致都高涨了,但本模块的单词比较多,this和that及he 和she基本能区分,但his 和her用起来容易出错。Chant的设计和音乐没有上册的好,无论是句子还是伴奏,所以先教了上册的。
