I. Analyze to the students(一.学生分析) 62 students are divided into 8 groups in the class. They all have the basic ability of English language study. They can cooperate and communicate with each other though they still need to improve their skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing. Of course, they are eager to know much about the future life.
II. Analyze to the Lesson(二.教材分析) 1st period of the new unit----Unit 3, Life in the FutureLeading in to the topic of future life by comparing life in the past and nowadays.Improving the imagination and getting much about future world by reading the text.
III. Teaching aims ,important and difficult points(三.教学目标和教学重难点) 1. Ability aim a. Enable students to talk about their life at present.Look back to the life in the past. Predict the life in the future.
b. Understand the text and try to find out what life in the future is like. c. Understand the details about the text and make a comparison among life in the past, life at present and life in the future.2. Language aimImportant words and phrases: take up; constantly; remind; lack of; lost sight of; sweep up; catch sight of 3. Teaching important points a. Compare life in the past, life at present and life in the future.
b. What is life in the future like What changes will take place
IV. Teaching method and teaching aids(四.教学策略和教具准备) 1. Fast and careful reading.
2. Asking-and-answering activity to check Ss’ understanding.
3. Individual, pair or group work to finish each task.
4. Discussion.5. Get a tape recorder and the some hanging pictures ready for use.6. A small blackboard with two sides.
V.Teaching Procedures:(五.教学过程) Step I Warming up and leading in ( 8-10 minutes) Question given: What do you use to help you see when you do your homework in the evening And do you know what people used in the past, say 200 years ago Then, what about people in ancient times Make a conclusion about the changes, then add that the world is still changing. Get the class to understand the words “vehicle, private” clearly.Get the class to divide into 8 groups to do the discussion on page 17, fill in the chart , then check with the class. Students can have a variety of answers.Step II Pre-reading ( 3-5 minutes )Get the students to discuss about the problems that human beings are facing today. (such as pollution, all kinds of shortages.) Make a prediction about the future. Which problems may be solved, and which will still be there. This part will prepare the students for the text. Showing the hanging picture prepared.. Get the students to look at the pictures on page 18 and discuss them.Step III Reading ( 25 - 28 minutes )1. Get the Ss to listen to the text and get the general idea then give them a few minutes to rearrange the correct order of some of the sentences picked out from the text. (about 5 minutes needed)(Showing one side of the small blackboard written the sentences below) A. We were transported into the future by a comfortable time capsule.B. I arrived at Wang Ping’s home and everything in his house made me surprised.C. I won a travel to the year AD 3005. D. I have my first try to master a hovering carriage (Give the correct answer: C—A—D—B) 2. Ask Ss to scan the first two paragraphs quickly to get some basic knowledge of the travel, and then check their understanding by asking some comprehending questions. (about 6 minutes needed) Questions:1) Why did I have the chance to travel to the year AD 3005 2) What is a “time lag” (Maybe here needs more explanation)3) How did I feel when I was in the capsule 4) Who guides my trip 5) Why did my guide give me some tablets 6) Who transported us to the future 3. Give Ss a few minutes to go through the third paragraph and to think over the questions. Get some details on the environment in the future. Encourage them to find out the reasons for the terrible environment. (about 2 minutes needed) Questions: 1) How did I feel as soon as I was transported to the year AD 2005 2) How did Wang ping solve this problem 4. Get Ss to read the forth paragraph and find out something about transportation in the future. (about 5 minutes needed)Questions:1) How did people travel in the year AD 2005 2) What do you think has caused this kind of problem 3) Who drove the carriages 4) How can people control the carriage 5. Get Ss to read the fifth paragraphs and find out something about daily life in the future. (about 3 minutes needed) Questions:1) What did Wang Ping’s house look like 2) What was the green wall made of What’s the purpose of building this kind of green wall 3) How can you produce a TV set in Wang Ping’s house 6. Get Ss to close their books and try to review what they had read by judging some true or false sentences. (about 5 minutes needed)(Showing the other side of the small blackboard written the sentences as follows) 1) I was very nervous although I have traveled several times.2) Wang Ping owns a company named “Future Tours”.3) Before the trip, we had a calming drink which made us sleepy.4) The air 1000 years later was as thick as today’s.I felt better after I took a rest in a small room.I lost sight of Wang Ping because there were too many carriages. (Give the correct answers: F F T F T T)Step IV HomeworkComprehending exercises on page 19Read the text fluently and try to master the language points.
VI. Follow up activity(六.课后反思) Get Ss to compare life at present and life in the future. Find out the changes on several items. Try to distinguish which changes are good and which are not good.
VII. Follow up valuation(七.课例评析) Firstly, it is a well prepared class. The teacher knows well about the idea of new senior English. She can direct and help the students in the class. She is familiar with the teaching materials and the students. Secondly, the class is active and collaborate enough, all the students can play their role in the class, their abilities in reading and thinking are improved. Thirdly, in my own opinion, if the teacher had not given the students so many questions paragraphs by paragraphs, time would have been given more to the 6th step of reading. This step is quite an important one, but it can be done as the revision job of the next class.
