Teaching design (教学设计)
Step 1. Revision
I. Let the students watch a period of video in order to arouse the topic today --- finding the way.
(一开始让学生看一段录像目的是引出本课的主题---找路即学习路线的英文表达法.)
II. Show the students some pictures which were taken in the street in order to let the students talk about “road signs”, then we can naturally go to the competition.
(给学生看几张街上拍的图片是让他们谈论到路标以便自然地过渡到下面的“路标竞赛”.)
III. Let the students have a competition in order to revise what they have learnt in “vocabulary” and also want to make them become interested in the topic today.(让学生竞赛的目的是复习以前所学的内容 “vocabulary” 并激发他们对本课的兴趣,同时也活跃一下课堂的气氛。)
Step 2. Presentation
I. When the students can recognize the road signs well, teach them some simple instructions of showing the route--- today’s topic.
(在学生能够很好地辨认出路标后就教他们一些简单的英文指路方式,进入本课的主题)
II. Tell the students how I come to Wujiang by showing the route (from Yufeng Experimental school to Kunshan Bus Station) in order to teach them how to express the route in English.
(通过创设情景告诉学生我是怎样来到吴江的---展示玉峰实验学校到昆山汽车站的路线图,目的是教会学生怎样简单地用英语表达路线.)
Step 3. Practice
The students may know I am a stranger there, and tell them I want to visit Wujiang TV Tower, show them another route (from Wujiang Experimental School to Wujiang TV Tower ) and let them take me there. In this way they can practice what they learnt just now.
(创设另一个情景---我想要参观吴江电视塔让学生带领我去目的是让学生能操练一下刚才所学的路线表达法.)
Step 4. Consolidation
Let the students listen to a dialogue,then answer two questions and make their own dialogues with the help of the map of Wujiang in order to develop the students’ intensive listening skills and mark the route in English.
(让学生听对话、回答问题、编对话是为了提高他们的听力水平同时也进一步巩固他们用英语表达路线的能力.)
Step 5. Playing a game --- Treasure Hunt
Let the students play the game ---“Treasure Hunt” in order to consolidate their skills of expressing the route in English in different ways.
(玩藏宝游戏不仅再次激发学生的兴趣而且更能够从另外一个方面巩固本课所学)
Step 6. Homework
Let the students draw a route which is from your home to a place you like and express it in English in order to let the students use what they have learnt in class in their daily lives.
(让学生画一副从家到他/她喜爱的地方的路线图并用英文表达出来目的是让学生能把课堂上学到的东西用到日常生活中去,真正地达到学习本课的目的。)

------Integrated skills(简案)
Teaching aim
I. To let the students recognize and master the key expressions about directions.
II. To let the students develop intensive listening skills by following instructions and and marking a route.
III. To let the students understand directions in a new context of finding a hidden treasure, and use key information given in instructions and identify the specific order of them from listening.
Teaching procedures
Step 1. Revision
I. Let the students watch a period of video to arouse the topic today --- finding the way.
II. Show some pictures which were taken in the street and ask the students to talk about them.
III. Let the students have a competition about the road signs.
Step 2. Presentation
I. Show some pictures with the simple instructions and let the students discuss them in pairs and choose the right picture, then teach them some simple instructions --- the way of showing the route.
I. Show the route (from Yufeng Experimental school to Kunshan Bus Station) to the students and teach them how to express the route in English.
Step 3. Practice
Show the students another route (from Wujiang Experimental School to Wujiang TV Tower )and let them practice expressing the route.
Step 4. Consolidation
I. Let the students listen to a dialogue and answer two simple questions.
II. Check the answers with the students and then let the students read the dialogue in different roles.
III. Let the students make their own dialogues with the partner according to the sample dialogue.
Step 5. Playing a game --- Treasure Hunt
I. Let the students look at a map and guess where the treasure is.
II. Draw the route while listening to the tape and try to find the treasure.
III. Listen to the tape again and put the sentences into the correct order with the help of the route they draw.
IV. Check the order and the route with the students.
Step 6. Homework
Please draw a route which is from your home to a place you like and express it in English.
Unit 3 Integrated skills(详案)
Teaching procedures
T: Class begins! Good afternoon, class!
S: Good afternoon!
T: Let’s enjoy a period of video first. S:…..
T: What is the woman doing S: …..
(if the students can’t answer the questions)
T: She can’t find her way. Can you help her ! S: (NO)
T: Let’s learn how to help her.
I. Revision
T: First, please look at these Pictures, what can you see in the pictures
(help the students answer: the traffic light is red, some people are crossing the road )
T: Is it dangerous So we couldn’t cross the road when the traffic light is red. Right But you know the traffic lights are one of the road signs.
T: Can you recognize all the road signs when you are on the road Let’s have a competition!
Let me show you how to do it.
(first click on the button “start”, then put the English words here, Are you clear now )
T: who can first finish the competition , please put up your hand!
(oh, you are so great, here is your prize, let’s congratulate her/him!)
T: Maybe some of you haven’t finished that competition, let’s finish it together. (finish the competition together “What does this sign mean ”)
II. Showing the route
I. simple instructions
T: You have known the road signs well now. but if you want to help others find the way you must know some instructions.
(please go back to Homepage, and enter the page “my route”, you will see four groups of pictures , please match the simple instruction with the correct picture )
T: Let’s check the answers.(ask some of the students to answer the questions and the teacher helps them to tell where the mistake is.)
T: Let’s see how to express other pictures in English.
II my route
T: You must know I am a teacher from Kunshan. Do you know how I came here yesterday (go to the map with the routes)Yes , it’s far from here, first I walked from my school to Kunshan Bus Station and then I took a bus here. Now I’ll show you my route.(The teacher tells the students the route.)
T: Please act as Miss Yang and try to walk from my school –Y.E.S to the bus station.
T: You know I am interested in watching TV, do you like watching TV I want to visit the TV tower here can you tell me how I can get there Now please look at the map and try to tell me the route.
(Let the students practise the route--- from Wujiang Experimental School to the TV Tower.)
(May be it is a little far , you may take a number 9 bus)
III. Giving directions
T: Now I think you can express the route in English well. Let’s listen to a dialogue.(please go back to the homepage and enter giving directions, then enter the page of questions )
(Then ask two students to answer the questions)
(check the answers with the students and then let the students read the dialogue in different roles)
T: You are inviting a classmate to your home. You need to give him/her directions. Work in pairs. Use Millie and Neil's conversation as a model to make your own dialogues.
IV. Treasure Hunt
T: Now let’s play a guessing game. You know there is a treasure in the map it may be in one of the three wooden houses, and it may be under one of the four trees, please guess where it is)
T: Take out the map I gave you , please listen to the tape and draw the route on it. And try to find the treasure.
T: listen to the tape again and try to put these sentences in the right order with the help of the route you draw.( check the answers and the route.)
T: After learning this lesson, can you show the route in English I think you can help this girl now!
T: Goodbye, class!
