情态动词1.will, would 与shall, should
will (构成一般将来时)将会;过去式would
There will be an end to slavery. Slaves will have their freedom.
would (过去反复发生)过去常常
He would sit for hours, deeply thinking.
shall (用于一、三人称问句中,征求意见)好 吗;否定形式为shan‘t
Shall we start the meeting now?
Shall he come and see you?
will 情态动词 意愿 If you will listen to me, I would like to tell you a story. 名词 at will 随意 Where there is a will, there is a way.
注:1.Shall 表示说话者的意图、允诺、警告、命令、决心时,用于二、三人称。
You shall get our answer this afternoon.
The enemy shall be wiped.
shall 表示义务和规定时,用于第三人称。
The new regulation shall take effect on June 1st.
Should (表示劝告、建议)应该
You should keep your promise.
2.should 常表示情理上“好不好”ought to 指道义上有责任。should 表惊讶,愤怒语气
It is surprising that he should be so foolish.
Should 用在疑问词后面

must 必须、定要;否定式needn‘t(不必)/mustn’t(不许)

must (表示推测、用于肯定句中)定是 There must be a mistake. You must be joking.
must (表示一种无可奈何的口气)偏偏

注意:在将来时当中,
will/shall have to表示将不得不
shall/will be able to表示将能够
I shall have to ask her to leave the company.

3.Need dare
这两个词既可以作为情态动词又可以作为实义动词。need /dare作为情态动词时,与其他情态动词相同。
You needn’t show your pass at the entrance unless the guard asks you for it.
If the enemy dare enter the village,we’ll fight against them to the end.
Need 作为实义动词,后接n. /to do /动名词。
接动名词时,need doing=need to be done
The garden needs watering=The garden needs to be watered.Dare 作为情态动词,过去式dared
How dare you speak to him like that?
作为实义动词,用在疑问和否定句中时,to 可以省去。
He dares to go out alone at night.
He doesn’t dare (to)go out alone at night.
Does he dare (to) go out alone at night?注意:情态动词+have done
1.表示过去已经发生的事情进行推测。 The road isn’t wet.It can’t have rained last night.
I don’t know why she didn’t call me yesterday.Could she have forgotten my telephone number?
2.表示对过去发生的事情一种责备语气 I could have done the work better.
You should have thought of that earlier.
They shouldn’t have left so soon.
You needn’t have told them about that . When you finish your works,they might have gone for miles.
She ought to have left home without telling her mother.
He needn’t have gone to the station yesterday.
