The Chinese people is a brave and hardworking people . The police are running after the thief. / Cattle are called cattle when they are raised in the field.
The news was very exciting. / Mathematics is a difficult science.
Her family always comes first in her mind. / The family all live together.
The football team is playing well. / The football team are having baths and are then coming back for tea.
The population of China is larger than that of Japan. / One third of the population here are workers.
Fifteen miles seems like a long walk to me. / Twenty years in prison was the punishment he had to pay.
4.主语为:“this kind/pair/type of +n; a kind/pair/type of +n. This pair of trousers is too long for me。 This kind of men is dangerous。 / Men of this kind are dangerous.
如:More members than one are against your plan.) There is more than one answer to your question. / Many a man has died for the cause of the revolution.
All is going well.----All goes well.-----All are eager to reach an agreement. Half of the building was destroyed.------Half of the students are boys.
The rest of the lecture is not interesting.-----The rest of the bikes are on sale today.
7.并列主语中 each…and each…; every…and every…; no…and no…,many a … and many a … Each boy and each girl was congratulated. / Every flower and every bush is to be cut down.
Between the two windows hangs a picture. / Here are three examples.
但若与 a pair of, a kind of 等连用时,谓语用单数。
His trousers are torn into pieces in the bike accident . / This pair of trousers belongs to my sister .
The United States is in North America. / “The Arabian Nights”(《天方夜谭》)is an interesting book.

The poet and writer is popular with us . / Egg and rice is their favourite food . / Bread and butter is our daily food.
2.当主语的后面跟有with, together with, along with,as well as, like, but, except, besides, including, in addition to, rather than, more than, no less than(不亚于, 和…… Nobody but Xiao Li and Xiao Wang was there.
An expert, together with some assistants, was sent to help in this work.
Tom, more than anyone else, is anxious to go there again. / The girl, as well as the boys, has learnt to ride.

This is one of the most interesting questions that have been asked.
但是: 如果one 之前有the only, the last, the right, the first等词语来修饰时,定语从句中的动词用单数形式.

Most of the wood was used to make furniture. / Some of the sand is hard .
当 each, neither, either 以及由 every, any, no, some 与 one, body, thing 构成的不定代词做主语时,谓语动词用单数。 Each of the girls is fond of pop music in her class. / Someone is expecting you at the school gate .
None of them are / is interested in local music.
