James Cleveland Owens was the son of a farmer and the grandson of black slaves. His families moved to Cleveland when he was 9.There a schoolteacher asked the youth his name.
“J.C.”he replied. She thought he had said“Jesse”,and he had a new name.
Owens ran his first race at the age of 13.After high school, he went to Ohio State University. He had to work part time so as to pay for his education. As a second-year student, in the Big Ten games in 1935,he set even more records than he would in the Olympic Games a year later.
A week before the Big Ten meet, Owens accidentally fell down a flight of stairs. His back hurt so much that he could not exercise all week, and he had to be helped in and out of the car that drove him to the meet .He refused to listen to the suggestions that he give up and said he would try, event by event. He did try, and the results are in the record book.
The stage was set for Owens’ victory at the Olympic Games in Berlin the next year, and his success would come to be regarded as not only athletic(运动的)but also political. Hitler did not congratulate any of the African-American winners.
“It was all right with me,”he said years later.“I didn’t go to Berlin to shake hands with him ,anyway.”
Having returned from Berlin, he received no telephone call from the President of his own country ,either .In fact ,he was not honored by the United States until 1976,four years before his death.
Owens’ Olympic victories made little difference to him. He earned his living by looking after a school playground and accepted money to race against cars, trucks, motorcycles, and dogs.
“Sure, it bothered me ,”he said later .“But at least it was an honest living I had to eat.”In time, however, his gold medals changed his life.“They have kept me alive over the years,” he once said .“Time has stood still for me. That golden moment dies hard.”

Global surface temperatures have increased 0.6—1.2 degrees since the late 19th century. The 20th century’s 10 warmest years all happened within the last 15 years. Of these,1998 was the warmest year on record. The snow covering the Northern Hemisphere(半球)and floating ice in the Arctic Ocean decreased. Globally, sea level has risen 4—10 inches over the past century. World-wide amount of rain and snow over land has increased by about one percent. The number of major rainfall events has increased throughout much of the United States.
Increasing concentrations(集中)of greenhouse gases are likely to make climate change faster. Scientists expect that the average global surface temperature could rise 1.6—6.3 degrees by 2100,and the climate in different areas could change differently. Evaporation(蒸发)will increase as the climate warms, which will increase average global amount of rain and snow. Soil moisture(潮湿)is likely to decrease in many areas, and strong rainstorms are likely to become more frequent(经常的).Sea level is likely to rise two feet along most of the U.S coast.
Calculations(计算)of climate change for certain areas are much less able to be trusted than global ones, and it is unclear whether the climate in different areas will become more variable(变化无常的).
65.The passage tells us the earth began to become warmer________.

C.On the whole earth, sea level has risen 4—10 inches.
D.The amount of the rain in the world has increased by about 1%.
67.According to scientists, the reason why the climate becomes warm is that________.
A.the snow covering Northern Hemisphere has decreased
B.evaporation has increased in the recent years
C.greenhouse gases concentrate increasingly
D.the floating ice in the Arctic Ocean has decreased
68.It is because______that strong rainstorms become more frequent.
A.average global little of rain and snow increases

Whether the hair is long or short, it must be regularly brushed and regularly washed .For greasy(油性的)hair, especially if the owner lives in town, it may be necessary to wash the head every few days. Those with a dry hair can usually go a little longer, but this is a matter for the individual(个人)to decide.
If a woman is not able to go to hairdressers very often, it is important that she chooses a style she can easily manage for herself, and this nearly always means that the first cut must be very standard. This should be carried out three or four times a year, so that the hair never gets out of hand.
One thing should be remembered though, that is ,whatever you apply to the head can have some effect upon the skin and therefore anything strong should be used with care. Or you may use milder products. As for style ,this must be studied according to what is the latest fashion and also to suit the individual at different time of her life.
Young people who have skin troubles on their faces ,should take particular care to ensure(确保,保证) that the hair is both clean and does not touch the affected piece of skin. Hair is very difficult to keep completely clean and therefore anyone running their hands through their hair and afterwards touching their faces, or letting their hair fall over their faces, might spread disease from one place to another .Good hair does a lot to the effect of a face, so if you want to look charming, please start with your hair.
70.According to the text, the most basic thing to do in hair care is to_______.
A.go to hairdressers very often
B.choose milder products for the hair
