Answer the following questions according to what you know
What problems are some wild animals in China facing
What has China done to solve the problem
How have things changed since China took action to protect wild animals
Some wild animals are dying out because of the loss of food, their habitats being destroyed or over hunting.
China has set up some National Natural Protection Zones, such as Wolong Nature Reserve, Sichuan for pandas, Nanhaizi Milu Park for Milu deer, and Baishanzu National Natural Protection Zone, Zhejiang for South China tigers.
Things have changed greatly. The number of the wild animals in the protection zones has increased. The number of pandas, which nearly disappeared years ago, has now risen to about 70, the number of milu deer to about 500, and the number of South China tigers about 60.

Discussion in groups
We should treat plants and animals the same as our friends and relatives. We shouldn’t cut or kill them freely. We should protect the environment around us to let them have enough food and good living conditions. We should collect money to protect the endangered animals, too.
Choose one of the the following topics to discuss with your partner.
1. Meat from animals is always the dishes on our table. Do you think human beings have the right to kill animals
2.Should animals be kept in zoos If not, what can be done with it Why
Topic1: Do human beings have the right to kill animals
For
Human beings have the right to kill other animals because we are part of the food chain.
We need food and like all animals, we sometimes have to kill other animals in order to survive.
Human beings have been killing animals since ancient times; today, we may buy our food in supermarkets, but those animals have been killed by human beings.
Killing animals is simply natural and necessary.
If we don’t kill enough animals, the number of animals will grow too large and they will die from disease or starvation.
Topic1: Do human beings have the right to kill animals
Against
All animals have the same right to live. Human beings are animals too.
The planet is not ours; it belongs to all animals and we must be responsible and careful.
It is no longer necessary for us to eat a diet based on animal meat. There are other and better things we can eat. A vegetarian diet is healthier.
Animals should be allowed to live in peace. Human beings must do what they can to make life better for all living creatures on earth.
Topic: 2.Should animals be kept in zoos
For
Animals can be taken good care of in zoos, and they won’t be hunted or killed by people.
With the development of economy, many places where animals used to live have been destroyed. Animals can’t live in such an unfriendly condition.
It is a great pleasure to see animals in the zoo in holidays, especially for children. In this way, we can know a lot about animals.
Topic2: Should animals be kept in zoos
Against
Animals should live in the wild so that they can take more exercise and keep healthy. Also, they can develop their ability to hunt for food by themselves in this way.
Animals as well as human beings should have the right to enjoy freedom. If not, animals can’t live freely and enjoy nature.
What did they say
"I am in favour of animal rights as well as human rights. That is the way of a whole human being."
Abraham Lincoln
Only if we care will we help. Only if we help shall all be saved.

Thank you for your letter. I understand why you are worried. You have a difficult problem. If you are friendly to man he will use this to attack you as you come near. If you are so fierce he must kill you. I encourage you to hide as much as possible and run away when he comes.
As for your home, I will write another letter to WWF to ask them to pay more attention or even set up a special zone for you.

A young man lives next to me. Every evening he always sings some pop songs. As he sings his voice rises. It is not beautiful at all. To me, it is in fact a noise. It affects me a lot, as I have to read some books in the evening. I think he should be concerned about the others and pay to attention to ohters’ feelings. And he should protect his throat, if he continues, I cannot help.
Last night, I went to him and suggested that he go to the rainforest for a holiday. There he will enjoy the beauty and see some endangered wildlife.
