About Culture Corner: According to the New English Curriculum Standard, it is beneficial to experience the culture of English-speaking countries in enhancing understanding and using English, in further understanding one’s native culture, in cultivating global awareness, and in developing cross-cultural communicative ability.
Culture Corner is a corner which can best demonstrate this idea.
Ⅰ. Analysis on the Teaching Material
1. About this topic: it covers such useful themes as different national types, and the links between personalities and nationalities .

1) to guide the students to get informed of personalities and national types.
2) to enrich their background knowledge of different cultures.

to enhance the students’ reading skills.
to encourage the students to express their own ideas.

Step 1 Lead-in
1. Talk about personalities
Get the students to talk about the teacher and an old lady.
Get the students informed of some words used to describe people’s personalities.
Get the students to talk about their own personalities in pairs.
Step 2 Pre-reading
Talk about people from different countries
Listen to the interview about communication in different cultures
Use the scale to classify people from Italy, Japan, Britain and the United States.
Listen to check the answers.
Step 3 While-reading
1. Go through the text to get a general idea of the text.
2. Read the text again to fill in the table.

Ⅳ. Self Comment
1. “learning to conduct oneself,learning to acquire knowledge” is two of our school motto ,“Four Know-hows”. Learning to acquire knowledge is very important, while learning to conduct oneself is more important. In this lesson I fully embodied this idea. For example, the task “Design a Perfect Person” gets the students to improve their personalities .
2. These principles are the basis of my design for this lesson : student orientation, interaction between teacher and student, interaction between students themselves.
3. I attach importance to encouraging the students to express themselves and lay emphasis on emotional communication with the students.
