A
Animals seem to have the sense to eat when they are hungry and they do not eat more than their bodies need.It has been demonstrated that rats will, when given a choice over a period of time, prefer water with vitamins to water without vitamins even though there is no difference in taste or smell between the two water bottles. When a fragrant(香的) flavor was added to the vitamin-enriched water, the rats did seem to prefer it and kept drinking it ,even after the vitamins were switched to the clear water. In time, however, they broke the habit and went back to where the necessary vitamins were.
In a classic experiment, babies of 6 to 12 months old were placed in a cafeteria(自助) feeding arrangement, with a wide selection of baby food before them. They were given whatever food they pointed to or appeared interested in.We are told that at first they showed some unusual eating patterns, but that over a period of time they managed to select well-balanced diet.
So, in selecting food, rats and babies do seem to know and act on what's best for them.Apparently, there is a kind of “body wisdom”, which humans soon lose. Most of us do not eat as wisely as we could. Many of our food preferences are culturally determined and influenced by long-established habits. Some people eat fox, dog and blackbirds, while we eat cows and pigs.So what people eat and how much they eat seems to be greatly influenced by what is going on around them.
56.The expression “the habit”(para.1)refers to drinking water which_________.
A.has no smell B.is tasteless C.has vitamins D.is flavored
57.According to the passage , adults eating habits differ from those of babies because _____.
A.adults know better than babies what kind of food are good for their health
B.adults usually cannot resist the temptation of various delicious foods
C.adults' eating habits are closely related to the social and cultural customs
D.adults have more choices of food than babies in eating patterns
58.The author implied in the passage that most of us_________.
A.eat a balanced diet
B.choose the food that is of nutrition
C.have the habits influenced by the surroundings
D.like to eat the food with a fragrant flavor.
59.As far as their eating habits are concerned, babies and rats are similar in that_________.
A.both have the wisdom to choose a balanced diet
B.both prefer flavored food and drink
C.both have the same eating patterns
D.both develop a taste for the same kinds of flavors

For a clearer picture of what the student knows, most teachers use another kind of examination in addition to objective tests. They use “essay” tests, which require students to write long answers to broad, general questions such as the following: “Mention several ways in which Benjamin Franklin has influenced thinking of people in his own country and in other parts of the world.”
One advantage of the essay test is that it reduces the element of luck. The student cannot get a high score just by making a lucky guess. Another advantage is that it shows the examiner more cares about the student’s ability to put facts together into a meaningful whole. It should show how deeply he has thought about the subject. Sometimes, though, essay tests have disadvantages, too. Some students are able to write rather good answers without really knowing much about the subject, while other students who actually know the material have trouble expressing their ideas in the essay form.
Besides, in an essay test the student’s score may depend upon the examiner’s feelings at the time of reading the answer. If he is feeling tired or bored, the student may receive a lower score than he should. Another examiner reading the same answer might give it a much higher mark. Because of this, the objective test gives each student a fairer chance, and of course it is easier and quicker to score.
Whether an objective test or an essay test is used, problems arise. When some objective questions are used along with some essay questions, however, a fairly clear picture of the student’s knowledge can usually be gotten.
60. What may have been discussed in the previous paragraphs?
A. The essay test. B. How teachers test their students.
C. How students write their essays. D. The objective test.
61. The essay test is preferred because ______.
A. it shows more about the student’s understanding of the subject
B. it tests the student’s knowledge of the material as well as his expression of ideas
C. it gives each student a fairer chance
D. its scoring may be influenced by the examiner’s feelings
62. The underlined word “this” refers to the fact that ______.
A. students may receive a lower score in an essay test
B. another examiner usually gives the answer a higher mark
C. different examiners may give the same essay different scores
D. the objective test gives each student a fairer chance
63. According to the passage, which of the following statements about the objective test is NOT true?
A. It is more objective than the essay test in terms of scoring.
B. It allows the student to guess the correct answer without really knowing the material.
C. It shows the student’s ability to think about difficult problems.
D. It is easy and quick to score.
C
When a dog bites a man, it usually doesn’t make news. However, this saying changed when Beijing and several other Chinese cities announced the “Civilized Dog Raising” campaign (文明养犬活动) in November .
The government will require Beijingers to get licenses for their dogs, and will enforce the one-dog, one-family policy. Police say the “one-dog policy” is aimed at reducing the number of dog bites and lowering the risk of rabies (狂犬病). According to the Ministry of Health, rabies has become the top infectious (传染的) disease in China. Dangerous dogs and dogs taller than 35 centimetres, such as Great Danes (丹麦种大狗), have been banned (禁止) from urban areas.
Pet owners are also required to clean up their dog’s droppings and make sure dogs are leashed (拴狗链), especially in public areas. Some public areas, such as banks, are closed to dogs entirely.
Dogs are regarded as man’s best friend and the history of raising dogs can be traced back to the stone age. It therefore seems sad that dogs are unwelcome in Beijing. But it is not the case that Beijingers dislike dogs. Actually, there are many dog lovers in Beijing. The city now has more than 550,000 registered (注册的) dogs, up 20 percent from the previous year.
The problem is, actually, about living space. Different from many Westerners, most Beijingers live in urban apartment buildings, not houses in the suburbs (郊外). There is very limited open space for walking dogs. The barking, the waste, and unleashed dogs in buildings, elevators and places people gather can cause fear, fights and frustration.
Beijing is not the only city to have a dog problem. Paris, London, New York and Vienna all face similar challenges and have common rules for dogs and their owners.
64. Which of the following may be a suitable title for the story?
A. Man’s Best Friend B. Civilized Dog Raising
C. No Room For Dogs D. When A Dog Bites A Man
65. What can be inferred from the above passage?
A. If a dog bites a man, it will become an important news item.
B. Rabies is the most serious infectious disease in Beijing.
C. Soon there will be no dangerous dogs or dogs taller than 35 centimetres in Beijing.
D. Beijing has trouble accommodating so many dogs.
66. According to the passage, what should you NOT do if you are a dog owner in Beijing?
A. Walk your dog in public places.
B. Have more than one dog.
C. Raise your dog in urban apartment buildings.
D. Let your dog bark in places where people gather.
67. In the writer’s opinion, the main cause of the dog problem in Beijing is ______.
A. the limited living space in urban areas
B. its lack of rules for dogs and their owners
C. Beijingers and westerners having different lifestyles
D. the increasing number of dangerous dogs

The “non-government education" sector in China should see new development in the new year since a law passed on Saturday will mean treating private schools like government-funded schools.
The Developing Non-government Education Law has gone through four discussion periods since June.
It allows people who invest(投资) in non-public schools to get a "reasonable amount" of profit(利润)from their operation, as well as funds for future development.
Zhou Keyu, the vice-chairman of the NPC Law Committee, said at a plenary session of the Ninth NPC Standing Committee last Monday that non-public schools have to act in the public interest. But, something has to support and encourage their development, so investors should be allowed a reasonable amount of profit.
The law also says that a non-government school is the sole property of the individual owner.
In addition, non-public schools have access to preferential(优先的) tax and land-use treatment. They will also have considerably more autonomy(自治) in setting tuition(学费) and in making administrative (行政的)and course decisions.
Teachers and students at non-government institutions will have the same legal status as their counterparts at government-funded schools.
For quite some time, private college students have complained of their second-class, unequal status, the most obvious disadvantage being that they did not qualify for student loans and could not buy half-price train tickets.

C. should experience new development in the new year

D.It had four discussions in June.
74. The new law says the following EXCEPT that ______.
A. investors should be allowed a reasonable amount of profit
B. a non-government school is the sole property of the individual
C. non-public schools have access to preferential tax and land-use treatment
non-public schools will have the same tuition and course with the public schools
75. We can tell that the new law passed on Saturday means ______.
A. more equal treatments for the private sector B. more investment in private sector

1-20 C ABCA CACAB CACCA BCA CA
21-35 A C B CC DABDC CDADC
26.D
27.A
28.B
29.D
31.C
32.D 此句是get sb.to do sth./have sb.so sth.
33.A
36-40 BADAA 41-45 BBDCD 46-50 ACDBB 51-55 ACCDA
37. A 这四个选项都是英语成语,根据本段第一句an 8.2 earthquake almost flattened America判断,选择A项。
Tears fill his eyes;Tears come into his eyes;He bursts into tears。
里挖掘”;dig out “发掘出” dig into“钻研”。
44. C Come on表示劝说,不耐烦,意为“得啦!,来!”,可用Come, Come,代替。
46. A “介词+反身代词”有固定含义,for oneself独自地,亲自;by oneself单独地;of oneself自行地,自动地;to oneself 对(着)自己。
I can’t believe my first teacher is still living。
52. C 此题包含一个固定句型:There are … left. “还有……剩余下来”。
53. C 14 …out of 33 意为:33人中有14人活下来。out of “从……里面”。特别注意此题中的介词与前面的left没有任何联系。如果没有意识到这点,极可能会选错。
54. D 从意义上判断,“房屋倒塌时,自然形成的三角空隙”。而make room; make space 意为“(有意识地)为……腾出空间”。
55. A 从上下文意义判断,此句为原因状语从句。

As the College Entrance Examination is drawing near, the situation is getting worse and worse. From the picture, we can see that Li Ming is "studying hard". There are many books for him to read and many papers for him to do. How poor he is! At the same time, all his family are also busy working for him.
Nowadays, many parents expect too much of their sons or daughters. They hope that their sons or daughters study hard in order to be admitted to an ideal college or a key university. It is for this reason that parents are strict with their children. However, they don’t realize what they have become a heavy burden or a great pressure. It is the hard work or the great pressure that changes their children that much.
So I hope parents provide a proper environment for their children. Only in this way, will they try their best and succeed at last!
