I was born in Quincy.
Lesson style: reading and writing
Method: bottom-up approach
Target:
To get information from the reading meterial about one’s past life
To match photos with paragraphs ,words,with meanings and questions with answers.
To join sentences with “and,but,because,so,too”and “with”
Key vocabulary:
Bedroom,garden,kichen,living room,pond,tree,favorite,movie theater,store
Key structures:
There were lots of things to do in Quincy,with many stores,two movie theaters,and footballl and baseball teams too.
Teaching tools:
Listening meterials,OHP
Teaching steps:
Step 1( 1 minute)
Greeting,daily ask and answer:
Morning everyone! let’s warmly welcome our leaders and teachers to our school.The whole class ,are you happy now
Step 2(6 minutes)
Lead –in and come to Activity 2
Let the students see some pictures and discuss:
Let’s relax for a moment.now let ’s look at some pictures
--What can you see
--I can see a….
were you in the bedroom last night Were you comfortable in the bedroom
Were you in the kitchen to cook yesterday
Were you in the living room to watch TV /to talk to your parents last night
Do you often have a bath were you in the bathroom last night
Keeping our bodies clean every day is necessary I think.
Were you in the pond to swim and to catch fish last summer holiday
I did it many years ago .it is fun I think.
Do you like climbing a tree
It ’s dangerous.don’t do it.
When we go to a town or a city,we can do shopping at the stores/shop.and then we can go to the movie theater/go to see a film..
Step 3: match the words with their meanings(Activity2)( 2 minutes )
And now ,do you know how to finish Part2 (ask the whole class and some students.)
Step 4:guide to the passage.( 3 minutes )
And now ,the whole class,let’s look at some other pictures.
Ask:is it a city or a village
Were you born in a village or a city
Do you remember the girl Betty
Do you know where she was born
The whole class,let’s read the passage and answer the questions(Activity1):
(read the questions, then listen to the passage,and then ask them to answer ,check them at last)
Step5 listen and repeat the passage the passage( 4minutes )
Step6 ( 8 minutes )
Find out the questions with the answers in the passage(Activity3).skim and check . immagine you were Betty ,ask and answer ,do pair work , and show at last.
Step7(5minutes)
Pair work:
Ask : where were you born
Answer: I was born in …
Ask :Was anyone famous born there
Answer:Yes,there was. …was born in my hometown ./No,there wasn’t./sorry ,I don’t know.
Ask: Were you a friendly/unfriendly/well-behaved/ naughty boy /girl
Answer:Yes,I was./ N o ,I wasn’t.
Step 8(4minutes)
Come to Activity 5,complete the sentences with the correct words.
finish personly,and then check.
Step9(5minutes)
Come to Activity 4,look at these sentences and make sure the students can understand the use of “with+n.” Finish personly,and then check..
Compare:
My mother and I were in the garden yesterday.
昨天我母亲与我一起在花园里。
My mother was in the gardern with me yesterday.
昨天我跟着母亲在花园里。
Step10:Make a conclusion.(2minutes)
Where were you/they born we /They /were born in Jiangmen ./I was born in Liyue.
Where was he /she/the dog born He /She /It was born in….
The maths teacher was into the classroom with a ruler in her hand.
Step11:Write a composition of past life.(do it as a homework if necessary.)
