48 No Fish In The Lakes
My uncle lives in New York City. His hobby is fishing. Every summer he goes fishing in the Adirondack Mountains.
One day this summer，he took me to one or the beautiful lakes there．The sun was shining in the blue sky over the lake．My uncle caught some big fish，but I could not catch any. he said, “When I was a child，I caught a lot of fish here．But now there aren't many fish．In some of the lakes there are no fish at all．”
Then one day I read an article about acid rain in a magazine．I learned many things．Gases from factories and cars go up into the sky, and the wind carries them
far away．Later they come down with the rain in other places．That is acid rain．
Fish eggs and young fish are killed by even a little acid in the water. Today there are no fish in about 200 lakes in the Adirondacks．
Acid rain is becoming a big problem all over the world today．Canada and some countries in northern Europe have the same problems．
What should we do to stop acid rain？Is it too late now No，I do not think so．All of us should work together to
stop acid rain．
